Enshrouded | Best Skills for Combat, Exploration and Crafting (Skill Tree Guide)

Here are the best Skills for combat, exploration and crafting which you should spend your Skill Points on in Enshrouded. Compared to other survival titles, Enshrouded has an incredibly deep Skill system with different trees and soft classes allowing you to refine your character's build no matter how you like to play the game.

Enshrouded | Best Skills for Combat, Exploration and Crafting (Skill Tree Guide)

Skills are a really important part of Enshrouded, no matter how you like to play. By levelling up or completing certain objectives in Embervale, you’ll earn Skill Points which can be spent on Enshrouded’s expansive Skill Trees, each of which has a long list of abilities that you can pick up to make you better at combat, exploration or even crafting. Furthermore, similar skills are grouped up into trees and act as soft classes, giving you a good amount of direction for character builds. If you like playing a spell-slinging sorcerer, you can focus on magic Skill Trees like Wizard or Battlemage, whereas the melee-inclined can dip their toes into Warrior, Tank or Barbarian.

There’s so much variety in Enshrouded that it can be a little overwhelming. Skill Points are relatively hard to come by – even if you use the fastest levelling methods – and with some of the more important Skills requiring upwards of 4 SP, it can be difficult to know which ones to prioritise picking up. Fortunately, we’re here to guide you through Enshrouded’s deep Skill system and show you what kind of Skills you should consider picking up for every major discipline in the game.

Here are the best Skills for combat, exploration and crafting in Enshrouded. This guide will also include a breakdown of the most important attributes for each playstyle as well as what classes fit each role best on the Skill Tree.

Best Skills for Combat in Enshrouded

Important Attributes for Combat in Enshrouded

First off, let’s discuss the best Skills for combat in Enshrouded, with combat or action-focused abilities taking up the majority of the Skill roster. Before we can do that, though, you’ll need to know what kind of attribute nodes to go for if combat is your main goal.

If you want to focus on melee attacks and damage in Enshrouded, the main attributes you’ll want to increase are going to be Strength, Endurance, and Constitution. Strength increases melee damage by 5% per Attribute Point, whereas Endurance increases your Stamina, allowing you to roll, block and attack more often without having to back off and regenerate.

Meanwhile, if you, instead, want to make a magic-based build in Enshrouded, you’ll want to increase the Intelligence, Spirit, and Constitution attributes. Like Strength on a melee build, each point of Intelligence increases your magic damage by 5% per Attribute Point. Instead of Stamina, magic attacks cost mana, with a higher Spirit stat increasing your total mana: in general, mana takes far longer to regenerate than Stamina so a high investment in Spirit is vital for mage builds.

Finally, Dexterity is the last major damage attribute and increases your Ranged Attack damage with Bows by 5% per attribute point. Because Bows require ammo, archer-style play is likely to be less popular compared to melee (which doesn’t require ammo at all) or magic (where you can Eternal Spells to remove the spell charge requirement on Staves). Even still, there are still plenty of great Skills and abilities which can aid players looking to pick up the bow.

Best Combat Classes in Enshrouded

Just like how the majority of individual Skills in Enshrouded are, in some way shape or form, focused on combat, most of the Skill Trees are also combat-heavy. Some allow you to go all in on a single damage type, drastically improving your performance within one category of combat, whereas other allows you to take a hybrid approach and juggle multiple styles of combat at once.

Starting with melee, the best and most straightforward melee Skill Tree in Enshrouded is Warrior. With plenty of Strength and Constitution attribute nodes, Warrior is all about making your character as strong as possible with as many different weapon types as possible. Think of this like a typical Fighter from D&D: while it isn’t the flashiest class, it is one of the most brutally effective.

The most important Skills in the Warrior Skill Tree are:

  • The Warrior’s Path: When attacking with a melee weapon all damage is increased by 10%.
  • Slasher/Brute/Thrust: All melee cutting/blunt/piercing damage is increased by an additional 10%.
  • Veteran: When attacking with a melee weapon, your critical chance is increased by 10%.
  • Swift Blades: Allows you to attack faster with one-handed swords and axes.

Next on our list is magic damage where the best overall Skill Tree is Wizard. Similar to how Warrior is a basic but effective way of employing melee, Wizard is a rather straightforward magic amplification class, with significant increases to both Intelligence and Spirit. Although, Wizard does have a few more interesting abilities when compared to its melee counterparts, specifically in how you can specialise into one damage type.

The best Skills in the Wizard Skill Tree are:

  • This Is The Way: When attacking with a magical weapon all damage is increased by 10%.
  • Arsonist/Thunder/Iceman: All fire/shock/ice damage is increased by 10%.
  • Frost: When receiving melee damage, the attacker will be slowed down for 3 seconds.
  • Radiant Aura: All Fell foes within 10 meters take 1 Fire damage per Intelligence per second.
  • Wizard: When attacking with a magical weapon your critical hit chance is increased by 10%.
  • Chain Hit: On a critical hit with a magical weapon, the attack will automatically hit a second enemy within 15 meters for 5 Shock damage per Intelligence point.

Lastly, the best-ranged damage class in Enshrouded is Ranger. While there is a bit of competition with Assassin, another Skill Tree focused heavily around ranged damage, the more universal buffs and bonuses in Ranger make it the better overall choice. Ranger is all about making your arrows hit harder and takes less time to shoot, allowing your archer to remain mobile and lethal no matter where they are. In line with the other classes we’ve recommended so far, Ranger doesn’t have many flashy or attractive Skills, just efficient ones.

The best Skills in the Ranger Skill Tree are:

  • Marksman: Increases damage dealt by all ranged attacks by 10%.
  • Eagle Eye: Greatly increases the zoom when aiming with a bow.
  • Sharpshooter: Increases all ranged damage by an additional 20%.
  • Counter Battery: +15% damage to ranged enemies.
  • Multi Shot: Adds a 20% chance to spawn a flurry of arrows that spread slightly.
  • Ranger: +2 Endurance, +2 Dexterity, +5 Stamina Recharge, +5 Critical Chance, and +5% Critical Damage.

Melee Skills

Aside from Warrior, Enshrouded has plenty of other powerful and impactful Skills if you want to play a melee-focused character. The main Skill Trees which will improve your melee capabilities are Barbarian and Tank, with Athlete being a Skill Tree full of useful Strength and Constitution attribute nodes.

Barbarian is a Skill Tree for those who enjoy overpowering their foes, especially with two-handed weapons like maces or large axes. Half of the Barbarian’s Skills focus on breaking enemy blocks, with Heavy Handed increasing stun damage gain against enemies whereas Breach makes any enemies take 100% more melee damage whenever you break their block. The other half of the Barbarian Skills are more about directly improving damage, such as Heavy Specialisation which allows you to attack faster with two-handed hammers.

Meanwhile, Tank is a more support-focused melee class and should only be focused on if you’re playing Enshrouded in co-op. As a Tank, your Skills mainly decrease the amount of damage you take, with Tower and Warden reducing the damage of physical and magic damage, respectively, depending on how many opponents are within 20 meters of you. These are nice in both co-op and solo play but the Skills which push this into being mainly a co-op class are Nemesis, which draws aggro whenever an ally gets it, and Earth Aura, which reduces damage against players with 10 meters by 10%. Tank is certainly strong but requires so much investment that solo players should look elsewhere.

Magic Skills

Compared to melee, the magic Skill Trees are diverse and enable a bunch of different play styles depending on if you prefer playing a pure caster, a sword-and-sorcery type mage, a helpful support and more. Aside from Wizard, your main magic damage Skill Trees are Battlemage, Trickster, and Healer.

Battlemage is a hybrid magic Skill Tree which mainly improves Wand damage and viability. Usually, magic classes will choose to run a Staff because they have a longer range and have access to more powerful spells like Fireball. If you invest in Battlemage, though, you can increase repeated Wand damage with the Sting Skill, give Wands a 30% chance to spawn an additional projectile with Wand Master and allow Wands to recover mana on hit with the Unity Skill. If you prefer blocking with a shield instead of standing away from the action but still want to use magic damage, Battlemage is the Skill Tree for you

Trickster is an interesting magic Skill Tree. Instead of directly increasing magic damage, the Skills in this tree are about disrupting your opponents, with Counterstrike being the best example. After receiving damage, Counterstrike gives you a 20% chance to reflect 50% of the damage back as fire damage, serving as a counter to any attacks which you can’t avoid. Then there’s Begone, a Skill which replaces your unarmed attack with a magic punch which pushes enemies back, stopping them from getting near you. Picking up one or two Trickster Skills to improve your survivability is a good idea, especially because the tree doesn’t require much investment to get to the good stuff.

Lastly, Healer, like Tank, should only be considered if you’re playing Enshrouded in co-op. As you might expect, most Healer Skills simply increase the amount of health you restore to both yourself and your allies when using Heal Charges. There are also one or two abilities focused on Reviving, such as Healing Revive, but Healer’s most impactful Skill is Water Aura. With Water Aura active, all players within 15 meters will regenerate 1 health point per second for every point of Intelligence you have, essentially turning your character into a walking healing potion. In co-op environments, Healer can prove incredibly useful but there are simply more effective Skills if you’re playing solo.

Ranged Skills

As we mentioned earlier, Ranger’s biggest competition is Assassin. While Ranger is about directly improving your damage and lethality with bows, Assassin is about style. Silent Stride increases your movement speed while sneaking, allowing you to quickly get into prime sniping positions safely. In contrast, Vitality Surge and Blessed Arrows will restore health and mana, respectively, whenever you score a critical hit with an arrow. This Skill Tree also has access to several Gliding Skills, namely Airborne and Updraft.

Assassin’s main gimmick is that it greatly improves Explosive Arrows, a special kind of bow ammunition which detonates on impact. The Ricochets Skill increases the damage of Explosive Arrows for every enemy hit by the explosion, while Chain Reaction gives enemies caught in the blast of an Explosive Arrow a 20% chance to trigger a secondary explosion. Explosive Arrows are kind of hard to come by in the early game, which is why you should prioritise Ranger’s more universal buffs, but, in the endgame, Assassin’s Skills are likely to come in extremely handy.

Best Skills for Exploration in Enshrouded

Important Attributes for Exploration

For those wanting to prioritise exploration above all else, the most important attributes to increase in Enshrouded are Endurance and Constitution

As we mentioned in the combat section, each Attribute Point you have in Endurance will increase your overall Stamina by 10 points. Whether you’re gliding to a far-off vista or sprinting to cross the Shroud before your timer runs out, having high Stamina is very important for explorers, allowing them to push farther out into the world without having to pause or wait.

Then, for the few times you’ll run into a threat or fall off a cliff that’s a bit too big, investing in Consitution will improve your survivability as each point increases Health by 50.

Important Exploration Attributes

Best Exploration Classes in Enshrouded

Without a doubt, the best class tree to invest in for explorers in Enshrouded is the Survivor Skill Tree. Survivor is a green Skill tree in Enshrouded that primarily focuses on improving your Stamina regeneration, a massive boon for those looking to explore the world as thoroughly as possible. The main attribute nodes Survivor grants are Endurance and Dexterity, improving your base Stamina amount while also increasing your Ranged Attack damage.

The most important Skills from the Survivor tree are:

  • Runner: Sprinting speed increased by 10% and stamina consumption decreased by 10%.
  • Double Jump: Allows jumping a second time while airborne.
  • Inner Fires + Relentless Fires: Maximum Shroud Time increased by 2 minutes / 5 minutes, allowing you to explore for longer.
  • Rebound: Increase base stamina regeneration by 50%.
  • Arachnoid: Reduces Stamina consumption while climbing by 50%.

The final major Skill available on the Survivor tree is Dessert Stomach, an ability which gives you one additional food slot. Normally, you can have up to 3 food buffs active at one time, with different pieces of food granting different abilities or improving certain attributes: if you want more information on the food buff system, check out our 10 Enshrouded tips guide. Having access to a fourth buff in this manner is extremely useful, allowing you to use food to cover more of your weak points or just make you overpowered.

Glider Skills

Aside from Survivor, the other main Skill Tree adventurous players will want to look into is Assassin. Not because of its combat Skills, mind you, but because Assassin is where you’ll find all the major Glider skills. The Glider is your best way of traversing Embervale quickly and efficiently so improving its consistency is extremely useful.

There are two major Assassin Skills to pick up for the Glider. The first is Airborne, a Skill which makes Gliders consume 30% less stamina. Simple and sweet, having this in your repertoire will just allow you to use your Glider for longer, especially if you combine it with the generous Stamina buffs from Survivor.

The other, more important, Glider Skill is Updraft. While Gliding, if you press the jump button, you will get a small boost in height from a gust of wind. This can only be done once per flight and casts 120 mana to cast but it will quickly become a key part of your Enshrouded gameplay. That extra bit of height may just be enough to cross that vast chasm safely or get you further down the plains than you ever thought possible.

Best Skills for Base Building and Crafting in Enshrouded

Important Attributes for Crafting

The attributes that are important to exploration are the same attributes which crafters or base builders will need to take note of. If you want to focus on crafting and harvesting in Enshrouded, make sure you have high amounts of Endurance and Constitution

Because so much of the crafting and building playstyle revolves around gathering resources from the world via mining or chopping wood, having high Stamina to make those sections less tedious will be a big help in improving the overall health and fun factor of the playstyle: there’s nothing worse than having to stop mining a resource vein every 10 seconds because your Stamina isn’t high enough.

In addition to Endurance, having a high Constitution stat is similarly important for reducing the tedium of the crafter play style. Carting vast amounts of resources from a grove or ore vein back to your base will make up a large majority of your playtime: without at least some investment in health, the risk of taking an unlucky death is too high. In those situations, you’ll need to run back to your tombstone or lose all that progress. As such, putting a few Skill Points into improving the Consitution can be a massive boon.

Best Mining and Harvesting Skills

Unlike the combat and exploration Skills, the best Skills for crafting aren’t in a Skill Tree. Instead, the most impactful crafting Skills are in the starting set of Skills all players get access to at level 1.

The best way to start your journey as a crafter is to focus on picking up all of the Skills which buff resource gathering from the middle of the Skill menu. Those Skills are:

  • Well Rested: The base duration of the Rested buff is increased by 5 minutes, which you can increase further by increasing the Comfort of your base.
  • Lumberjack: Felling axes do 30% more damage against wooden objects, including trees.
  • Mason: The Pickaxe deals 30%  more damage against stone objects, including resource veins.
  • Miner: When you mine resources, you have a 10% chance to get one additional resource.
  • Quality Gear: All tools lose durability 50% slower.

Once you’ve acquired all of these, you can begin branching out into the surrounding Skill Trees to better mould your desired playstyle. We recommend picking up several Endurance and Consitution attribute nodes before committing to one class or another, as you’ll be a bit behind in terms of stats compared to players who chose one or more Skill Trees off the bat.

Some crafters may want to consider taking some Skills in the Survivor tree, with Runner’s sprinting speed and stamina consumption decrease proving very useful for transporting items back to base whereas Inner Fire will let you remain in the Shroud for longer without worry. On the other hand, other players may wish to increase their survivability or combat abilities so that they can better survive out in the wilderness for longer: if that kind of hybrid playstyle appeals to you, consider looking at the Tank or Battlemage Trees.
