Getting Started

The first step of Player Career mode is obviously always picking a club to play for. After you’ve decided on your new home, you’re going to be spending a few minutes creating your pro player. There are some new customization options which include:

  • Tattoos – instantly improve the aura of your player’s shirtless celebration, camera men love it!
  • Face Guards – just in case you’re a certain Italian goalkeeper and see Wilfried Singo approaching…
  • Goggles – honestly, this option is solely if your name is Edgar Davids.

On top of that, there’s a new camera mode that is set as the default for Player Career mode. It is called Focus Camera and it involves zooming in on your player when there are key moments happening such as dribbling, jockeying, or goal-scoring opportunities.

Personality Type

In EA Sports FC 24 Player Career mode, the game gives you the choice of specialising in a specific personality type. There are three personalities each with their own benefits and objectives. They are Maverick, Virtuoso, and Heartbeat. Completing certain feats and tasks will help you gain points that boost your personality type.

As a result, you can increase specific stats in a skill tree depending on which personality you choose. Each personality type helps you unlock unique playstyles that elevate your game.

Maverick

The Maverick personality is all about owning the spotlight – both on and off the pitch. These are the players who thrive on individual brilliance, scoring goals and making sure everyone knows about it. By hitting personal objectives and diving into Maverick-related gear and hobbies, you’ll quickly embrace this persona. Naturally, the skill tree focuses on pace and shooting, because if you’re not speeding past defenders and firing rockets into the net, are you really living the Maverick life? Think Cristiano Ronaldo, Mbappe, and Neymar Jr. – the kind of players who aren’t just on the field, they are the field.

Virtuoso

Virtuoso is basically the yin to Maverick’s yang. While Mavericks are all about spotlight and individual glory, Virtuosos are the masters of playmaking, orchestrating the game with subtle brilliance for the benefit of the team. These players tend to be humble, letting their assists and goal contributions do the talking instead of seeking fame. It’s all about the game, no distractions. Picture Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings, Lionel Messi weaving magic, or N’Golo Kante doing his thing without a hint of ego – these are the players who make their teammates shine without asking for the limelight.

As you earn money, you are able to go shopping. Buying certain items or participating in different events and activities will help boost your personality points. Of course, this depends on the activity as each one contributes to a specific personality type. For example, buying a treadmill means that you’re focused on enhancing your football ability outside of the pitch thus granting you Virtuoso points. You aren’t out partying or buying a new suit like what Mavericks would do.

On top of that, you can see that you gain a small training boost and +1 sprint speed. Naturally, that would make sense as you are buying a treadmill after all. So, keep an eye out on what’s available to be purchased as you can increases stats and gain personality points.

Heartbeat

As the name suggests, this personality type involves you being the heart and soul of the squad. These are future captains that will put everything on the line for their club. Not only does this mean you’re a team player but you’re most likely going down a path that will lead you to captain the club you play for. This is all about loyalty, fight, and heart. Players in real life who adopt a similar mindset include: Carles Puyol, Roy Keane, and Jordan Henderson. This player is as Loyal as Marco Reus and is as dedicated as your ex is to cheating.

Playstyles

As we’ve already mentioned, your chosen personality type unlocks unique playstyles, and the more you lean into it, the more perks you get. If you’re not entirely sure what we mean by playstyles, check out our Pro Clubs builds article where we break down the best playstyles for every player type. But here’s a pro tip: don’t try to be a jack-of-all-trades. A balanced approach with a bit of everything won’t cut it. Focus on one playstyle, embrace it, and commit to your personality type – your player will thank you for it! Or, you’ll thank us… Either way, focus on playstyles!

In the end, you can create a player that’s as unique as you are by picking a personality that matches your style of play. Sure, regular playstyles will unlock as you level up, but to get those next-level playstyles+? You’ll need to double down on a personality and smash its objectives. Whether you’re a midfielder, defender, winger, striker, or goalkeeper, choosing the right personality type is key to shaping your player’s development. Play to your strengths, and let your personality shine on the pitch!

Agents

A new feature in Player Career mode is the arrival of agents. Think of them as your personal career GPS. Throughout your journey, your agent will guide you to potential clubs, handle negotiations, and weigh in on your wins and losses with plenty of commentary. They’re like the helpful tour guide you never knew you needed.

While managers focus on tactical knowledge and match prep, your agent’s job is all about managing your career path. The system is refreshingly simple—you just kick the ball, and your agent takes care of the rest. You set the expectations and targets, and they handle the details. Having an agent is basically like having this EA Sports FC 24 Player Career mode guide in your pocket!

Negotiations and Objectives

Your agent plays a pivotal role in ensuring you get where you want to go. At the end of each season, your progress is reviewed as the board decide what’s next for you and your role at the club. Having an agent helps you plan accordingly, offering numerous options and back up plans in case things go south. Therefore, when it comes to negotiations and planning, we’re glad someone’s got our back.

If you’re going to leave, you can join your target team (if they are interested) or join one of the clubs recommended to you by your agent. Furthermore, there are a set of mandatory and optional objectives determined by the prestigiousness of the club and league you play in. Mandatory objectives MUST be met in order for you to negotiate a new contract with the club. On the other hand, optional objectives do not have to be met but you will find that the club compensates you well if you do succeed in fulfilling them.

Target Team and Recommendations

Your target team is basically your next move. If you play for a smaller club, giants such as Manchester United and Liverpool might not be interested in signing players from your squad. Therefore, you’ll have to make a smaller leap to another club before reaching your ultimate goal. For example, you can go from Paris FC, to Monaco, to Dortmund, to Manchester City.

You do not have to worry about thinking where you could go before you reach the big clubs. This is because your agent already recommends stepping-stone clubs you can play for until you’re ready to sign for your dream club. Of course, you’re only allowed to have one target team active at a time, but you can change it whenever. The most important thing to note is you must meet your target club’s seasonal objectives in order for them to be interested in signing you.

How to Level Up Fast

With everything covered in this guide, you’re in prime position to level up fast. Pair solid form with smart purchases that align with your chosen personality type, and you’ll be unlocking incredible playstyles and stat boosts in no time. This will not only elevate your performance but also help you nail those all-important objectives. It’s all about the grind – so lace up those boots and get training!

And speaking of training, it’s still a core feature in Player Career mode. You can activate training plans just before a match, ensuring you never miss out on those essential stat boosts and XP. Plus, training drills reward you with personality points, which you can spend to push your player’s development even further. The grind is real, and it’s all part of becoming the next big thing!

One last thing to note is that depending on your position, your overall rating will increase based on your highest stats. For example, RB and LB (right backs and left backs) will benefit from having well rounded stats with high pace and defending. For a CB, you’ll find that pace doesn’t matter as much as physicality. A CDM would follow a similar path whilst CAM or CM benefits more from having solid short passing and dribbling.

If you combine everything you’ve learned, you’ll find that you’ll quickly become a household name in your club’s city. If you’re looking to be a legend, icon, or even win the Ballon d’Or, then you know what to do! (Yes, you can actually win the Ballon d’Or or Player of the Year in your league thanks to the new dynamic moments feature).

Hello Mauricio, hope all is well! In real life, players do not improve infinitely. Instead, they improve up until they reach their maximum potential. In EA FC 24, players follow this exact same rule not only for realism purposes but also to keep the game balanced. In short – pretend that level 50 is that Messi/Cristiano level of GOAT status that you cannot surpass. It is your players peak.

Hello! That is quite odd because usually to get the captain’s armband you just need to play a few seasons for the club and have a high enough rating, which you already have done. You could try playing in the same position as the captain so you can eventually bench him. Having consistent form is key regardless of high rating, as well. Finally, it is important to remember that sometimes the in-game AI is a bit random in its decision-making and could be holding onto the current captain because it is unable to detect that you are a better fit for the role. In this case, simply wait for the captain to be sold or retire. Nevertheless, good luck and sorry that you are experiencing this odd situation, they definitely should have given you the captains armband by now! -Yuri.
