In Diablo II: Resurrected, there are many wonderful items that have players spending countless of hours trying to hunt them to maximize their favorite builds. These are the items that players dream in their sleep; hoping one day that they will finally get these items. Mainly because these items are simply that good, and they vastly improve your characters’ power potential.
Some of these items are Runeword based and some of them aren’t. For this list, I will be ranking the ten best items that I believe are the ones that will always be useful to use and find. It starts from the least to the absolutely best item in the game. Keep in mind, all of these items are all worthy for something because they are so useful in many situations. There is a special rule to this list. I won’t be counting class based items like the Herald of Zakarum or Death’s Fathom. I think adding this particular rule will make the list more interesting to read.
Some of these items aren’t necessarily the rarest in the game, but they will still require time and patience if you ever want to try to get these items.
Guillaume’s Face
For the first item that gets the limelight is probably a shocker. It is also the only Set item that made it to the list. It’s none other, but Guillaume’s Face; a helmet that is always useful to find for your melee builds. What makes this item so great is basically every single stat is useful, and it is by far the best helmet to use when fighting Uber bosses or Diablo Clone. It’s also fairly easy to find too which definitely adds value to the item. On top of that, it is also an endgame helmet for high end melee builds or mercenary set ups. It’s very hard to find any real flaws behind this helmet, but it’s always a great helmet to find when doing a ladder reset. You’ve basically acquired one of the most important items for the Pandemonium Event.
Bul-Kathos’ Wedding Band
This item is by far the most useful Unique ring in the game overall. It’s mostly designed to be a ring targeted for melee builds, and it is a great one. However, for melee characters that want to do more damage, there are better options when it comes to Rare rings as long you get the right rolls. For casters, this is certainly a top notch choice for survivability and damage. Skills are very important for casters, and it’s also nice to have more life at the same time. Overall, this ring is desirable for many types of characters and offering useful benefits.
Call to Arms
There’s no doubt that Call to Arms is objectively the best secondary set up for your character. The Barbarian’s Battle Orders is easily one of the best abilities due to the increased health and mana. The Battle Command is also nice to have too because it’s increasing your overall damage. It’s really just those two factors that make this weapon useful to have especially if you get a nice roll on them. For those who play the game on Hardcore mode, this should always be the Runeword you must make as soon as possible. It’s also by far the best Runeword you can make out of an Ohm Rune, and players who don’t have a decently rolled Call to Arms will always look out for them to improve their chances.
Grief
For the price of a Lo Rune, you simply get the best one handed melee weapon in the game. The Lo Rune is also by far the hardest thing to find compared to the other runes and the weapon base itself. Once you have a Grief Phase Blade in your hands, you simply don’t need any other weapons to use because the raw damage is just that good. There are some special scenarios where other weapons can be useful versus Grief like Azurewrath is excellent for undead crowd control and it’s great against physical immunes, but Grief will easily spoil players by how powerful the damage is and it is also a fast attacking weapon.

It’s possible to make Grief in a Berserker Axe, but a Grief Phase Blade will render it indestructable.
It’s also a weapon that has Ignore Target’s Defense which means you will always hit trash mobs like it’s no tomorrow. Weapons like Death and Breath of the Dying are also fantastic choices over Grief, but they don’t quite come close to the damage of Grief, and also they are much harder to craft especially when players want to find an ethereal base to make these weapons truly shine.
Harlequin Crest
This item is certainly one of my personal favorites, and it’s the one item that I believe every Diablo II fanatic always want to find as soon as possible during a fresh start. The Harlequin Crest offers so many useful stats like allowing your character to have more Life, Mana, Damage Reduction, but it also boosts your stats and gives you a respectable amount of Magic Find to help you find even cooler stuff within the game. It is also an item you should consider socketing too because there isn’t a single bad stat on this helmet. With all that mentioned, the Harlequin Crest is not only one of the most iconic items within the game, but also one of the best too.
Crown of Ages
It should be noted that this item needs to roll in spectacular condition to be considered one of the best items in Diablo II: Resurrected. If you happen to have a nice roll on the Sockets, Damage Reduction, and Resistance, the Crown of Ages should be used. Its overall stats make it an excellent endgame defensive helm. It’s certainly the item that you want to use while running an area that has a lot of highly threatening mobs.
The fact it can have two sockets means the player will have to brainstorm the many valuable runes and jewels you can use in this helmet. I’d suggest two Ber Runes for the massive Damage Reduction or you can take two Increased Attack Speed jewels with Enhanced Damage to help your melee characters being able to counter Decrepify and Holy Freeze slowdown. Hardcore players will certainly want to find this item during their magic find runs, and when used, your character will become very tough to kill.
Mara’s Kaleidoscope
This amulet is by far the simplest Unique amulet in the game. It only gives you three beneficial stats, but they are certainly excellent for their uses. The 2 plus Skills is excellent for caster builds, and it also adds more Skills to your Call to Arms which will increase its value. It also gives you some attributes which can be beneficial for various things like hitting max block or getting towards the strength gear requirement. Last, but not least, its Resistance is the only thing that can vary from 20 to 30 Resistances. These benefits make the Mara’s Kaleidoscope by far the most valuable Unique amulet you can use for endgame.

Spirit
This is by far the most overpowered Runeword in all of Diablo II: Resurrected. For such incredibly cheap and easy to find runes, you have an item that is easily one of the best endgame caster shields due to so many useful mods like 35% Faster Cast Rate, 55% Hit Recovery, and reasonable Resistances. It’s also easily obtainable too. Finding a white Monarch is very common in level 85 areas, but finding the Paladin based shields is actually easier.
It’s definitely possible to spot a decent shield base with four sockets in the later stages on Nightmare difficulty and various areas on Hell difficulty. Alternatively, you can make it into a weapon, and it is easily one of the best early game caster based weapons. There are times I wondered why Blizzard made this Runeword so powerful and why they thought it was a good idea to make it this cheap. But due to the existence of Spirit, it certainly belongs to be ranked this high on the list.
Infinity
This item has always been the big chase items for those who enjoy caster builds in Diablo II: Resurrected. When playing caster builds, Infinity is the best in slot weapon for Act II mercenaries and it’s because of that juicy Conviction Aura. The aura will always be at level 12, and at that level you will do additional bonus damage to various mobs, but it is mostly beneficial towards lightning builds because it will break a lot of the lightning immune mobs.

Ever since Sundering Charms has been introduced in the game, Infinity is actually much stronger than it was compared to the legacy version. These charms will further reduce the resistance of the mobs within the game, and when you combine it with your level 12 Conviction Aura, your damage will simply go off the charts!
It also comes with other additional stats like 40% Crushing Blow and 35% Faster Run/Walk which are certainly nice to have on your mercenary.
Enigma
Not only this Runeword is absolutely iconic for many Diablo II players, but it is easily the best one too. There isn’t a single bad thing that Enigma gives the player, and it is memorable for being the armor that allows you to teleport freely. This armor definitely benefits many caster oriented builds like the Hammerdin or Wind Druid, but it can also be beneficial for the Sorceress and even melee builds.
This armor gives the player both offensive and defensive capabilities, but it also provides them a ton of Magic Find. Not only you will be dishing out massive damage and being durable, but you can find some interesting stuff while you’re at it. Since this Runeword is so heavily sought after for many Diablo II players, finding that first Jah Rune or Ber Rune will always unleash a huge dopamine rush because you’re simply one step closer to making an Enigma.
That is my ten picks of the best items in Diablo II: Resurrected. I hope you found the list entertaining and insightful while reading it. Now, it’s time for me to get back to playing the game and hopefully, I’ll find some cool stuff. I also hope you’ll end up finding something valuable along the way!
