8 Games to look out for In February 2024 As another month ends another one begins which means even more game releases. We’ll be providing our picks for February while reminiscing over what came before. Last month began our trip into 2024’s year of gaming, and it was a good start for what’s to come. We had a blast with Tekken 8 and enjoyed its new and returning characters. The remaster for The Last of Us: Part II was released with an enjoyable rogue-like mode. After years of waiting, we finally got a new Prince of Persia game and had fun using time powers once more. Then near the end of January, we got the newest Like a Dragon title with both Ichiban and Kiryu as co-protagonists. 

Now on to February where we’re getting another month of interesting titles alongside some that could go either way. We have a few cooperative games, anticipated sequels, and some fantastic exclusives. Well let’s not delay any further, here are eight games to look out for in February (2024). 

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

First on our list for February is Rocksteady’s action shooter, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Set in the world of DC Comics, play as members of the Suicide Squad as they take on an alien invasion as well as do the impossible, Kill the Justice League. The highly anticipated next entry to Rocksteady’s DC Universe releases on February 2nd for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

What We Know About Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

The creators of the Batman: Arkham series return with their newest instalment in the DC Universe. Play as newly recruited members of the Suicide Squad, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, and King Shark as they’re forced into a warzone by Amanda Waller. In this instalment, The Suicide Squad are tasked with killing the Justice League after their sudden change in heroism to carnage whilst an alien siege is underway in Metropolis. Use an arsenal of weapons and abilities to take on Brainiac’s army. Engage in exciting boss battles against Justice League members Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. Team up with other supervillains like Lex Luthor, The Penguin, Gizmo, Toyman and more.

Explore Rocksteady’s biggest environment to date in the Arkamverse’s version of Metropolis. You’ll see plenty of DC Comic easter eggs throughout your time navigating the ravaged city that Superman used to protect. Each member of the squad brings their own flavour of gameplay, from their traversal mechanics to their combat. Deadshot takes flight with a jet pack and can use his signature wrist-mounted guns. Harley Quinn will be gliding around the city thanks to some tech from Batman, she’ll be owning her skills with a baseball bat and other cooky armaments. Captain Boomerang will use custom boomerangs and be able to run almost as fast as the Flash with the speed force gauntlet. King Shark leaps into the action and brings a Death From Above approach to combat with heavy weapons and his aquatic strength. Play alone or with up to three friends through the entire story and its endgame content bringing new characters, story missions, events, weapons and more!

Next, we have another cooperative adventure, this time in space with Helldivers 2, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. Become the galaxy’s last line of offence as the newest member of the Helldivers. Join the fight for freedom in the ferocious third-person shooter that takes you across the galaxy. Helldivers 2 promises to deliver an even more intense and captivating gameplay experience. Get ready to breach hostile planets and keep the peace when Helldivers 2 releases on February 8th for PC and PS5.

What We Know About Helldivers 2

In Helldivers 2, explore a dangerous galaxy where deadly alien civilizations have formed an alliance to attack Super Earth and its ideals. As part of the Helldivers, your mission is to protect the homeworld and restore peace using any means necessary. Engage in intense battles and high-stakes missions alongside your fellow Helldivers, utilizing an impressive arsenal of weapons. Spread democracy, liberate hostile forces, and become a symbol of hope in this Galactic War. 

The main bulk of gameplay is the chaotic third-person battles on procedurally generated worlds. Customise your load-outs with overpowered weapons that allow you to tailor your playstyle to your preferences. Whether you prefer the precision of a sniper rifle or the explosive firepower of a rocket launcher, there will be a weapon to suit every playstyle. Play as a team to face the horrifying bug-like Termininds and the robotic Automaton factions using different strategies to achieve victory. Moving away from cooperative games, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a new action RPG developed by Don’t Nod Entertainment. Explore a supernatural story-driven action RPG where your decisions have dramatic consequences. Solve haunting cases and battle supernatural forces using both spiritual powers and an arsenal of weapons of the living. Explore Don’t Nod’s newest narrative adventure when Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden releases on February 13th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

What We Know About Banishers: Ghost of New Eden

Take on the role of ghost hunters Antea Duarte and Red Mac Raith who protect the living from the supernatural. It’s 1695 and our protagonists are sent to the fictionalized world of New Eden to eradicate the ghostly threats plaguing the land. However, when an investigation goes wrong and Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. The two must travel far and wide in search of a cure but how you go about this issue is up to you. Alongside the main journey, explore the lore-rich world containing interesting communities and discover ancient secrets while banishing the souls that torment the living. 

Unlike some of Don’t Nod’s previous games, Banishers will feature more of an action role-playing style of gameplay. You can play as both characters in combat by switching between them on the fly. Red can use a mix of weapons such as swords, guns and mystical abilities. When playing as Antea, she uses her newly found spiritual abilities to take on the supernatural, with both melee and long-ranged attacks. Don’t Nod has made it so that you can switch between the two fluently, allowing a fantastic combination of moves when fighting the ghostly beings of New Eden.

Time for a blast from the past in a whole new coat of paint with Tomb Raider I-II-III. Lara Croft, the gun-toting archaeologist is back for a new generation of consoles. This collection contains the first three entries with updated features alongside some additional content. Plunge into the first three Tomb Raider adventures where Lara Croft’s perilous endeavours will lead her to locals like Antarctica and Atlantis. Uncover treasures of the ancient world by solving puzzles and unravelling mysteries lost to the ravages of time. The main stories of these games will remain the same in the collection with all expansions and secret levels. The collection includes Tomb Raider 1‘s Unfinished Business expansion, Tomb Raider 2‘s Golden Mask expansion, and Tomb Raider 3‘s Lost Artifact expansion. 

Alongside the story being kept faithful to the original games, the gameplay aspects will stay mostly true to the source. Experience the old and the new thanks to the option to change the graphics allowing you to experience the original polygon versions of the trilogy. Players will face off against deadly foes alongside dangerous myths, maybe a dinosaur or two. The remastered collection will also include two different control schemes and photo mode for the creative types. The next pick will take you to the high seas with Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones. Enter the perilous world of pirating in the new cooperative open-world action RPG experience. The game adopts the third-person perspective of other Ubisoft titles and includes both online and offline modes focused on the ship gameplay of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Explore the open seas when Skull and Bones is released on February 16th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

What We Know About Skull and Bones

Set across the Indian Ocean during the golden age of piracy, play as an up-and-coming pirate captain thirsty for riches and adventure. Set sail across the several wonders of the open sea alone or with a small crew of friends. Work under NPC’s known as Kingpins who will give you contracts to complete and as you build rapport with them, you’ll learn their stories. In terms of narrative Skull and Bones chooses to walk a similar road to its competition Sea of Thieves and other open-world games like Fallout 76. Players develop their narrative by developing their characters and choosing their way to play pirates. 

If you’ve played any Assassin’s Creed games after Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag then you most likely have experienced naval combat. Skull and Bones uses this naval combat and turns it up to 11 with updated gameplay and a deadlier arsenal. Featuring a more hands-on approach to crafting, customization, and shipbuilding, Skull and Bones allows players to create the pirate ship of their dreams. The multiplayer component allows crews of up to five to explore the vast seas and embark on epic voyages for hidden quests and plunder. Ubisoft is aiming to supply seasonal content for Skull and Bones for years to come.

For fans of management games, our next pick is for you with Corponation: The Sorting Process, developed by Canteen. Work as a lab technician in a corporately owned state. Experience a linear dystopian narrative where you organise a collection of genetic samples and remain a model employee. Get ready for another day of work when Corponation: The Sorting Process releases on February 22nd for PC.

As you dive deeper into your role, you will have the opportunity to modify genetic samples to meet specific characteristics. Additionally, you can utilize your hard-earned wages to shop for items and decorate your room, enhancing your gaming experience. For leisure and relaxation, you can climb the leaderboards on the state-approved gaming platform, immersing yourself in thrilling virtual challenges. Our next pick is the supernatural driving survival adventure that is Pacific Drive, developed by Ironwood Studios. Face the supernatural dangers of the Olympic Exclusion Zone with a car as your only lifeline. Scavenge for resources, load up your trusty station wagon and drive like hell to make it through each zone alive. Put the pedal to the metal when Pacific Drive releases on February 22nd for PC and PS5.

Set in the Pacific Northwest, explore the Olympic Exclusion Zone, an area that contains supernatural experiments from a top-secret organization. Now abandoned and infested with its own creations, you will set off on a journey to uncover its vast mysteries. How do you get through the sections of the zone you may ask? Why with your trust station wagon of course, you’ll maintain and customise it throughout your run. The journey won’t be easy, everywhere you look you’ll find anomalies and surreal forces of nature that make things both difficult and more interesting. Each run will contain otherworldly hazards like the devastating Zone Storm that will have you stomping the gas to outrun it. 

The gameplay of Pacific Drive consists of open-world exploration both on foot and in the driving seat. You’ll scavenge for materials, document your trips and then return to a garage to upgrade your vehicle to venture deeper into the OEZ. In the garage, you can make adjustments to your vehicle like adding armour, replacing car parts, and installing mods. You also plan routes there alongside pinpointing key landmarks for you to explore in the OEZ. Finally, our last pick for February is the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, developed by Square Enix Studios. The upcoming action RPG is the second part of the trilogy enhancing the experience of the original Final Fantasy VII. Continue the plight of taking on the tyranny of the Shinra Electric Power Company and legendary veteran Sephiroth. Explore the world outside of Midgar and continue Cloud’s adventure when Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth releases on February 29th for the PS5.

What We Know About Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

Experience the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake project as Cloud and the members of AVALANCHE leave Midgar in pursuit of Sephiroth. Unravel a gripping story, rich with mystery and plenty of twists for new players and old. Explore the journeys of each character in your party and learn new details regarding their backstories. Rebirth will feature a relationship meter where influencing your companions can unlock special scenes with them. One change to the story is the involvement of Zack Fair who is the main protagonist of Crisis Core. He’ll be getting his own episode giving us more time with the character than in the original game. 

In the last game, you played as a small amount of characters with many being only available to assist. This time around you can play as a large handful of new and previous characters. This includes the likes of Zack, Aerith, Barret, Tifa, Red XIII, Yufi, Cait Sith, and Sephiroth. Combat will continue similarly to the first part with the choice of Active and Classic battle modes. Explore the open world this time with locations not featured during this part of the story. Travel through these locations by riding Chocobos (which have unique abilities), swimming, and using buggies. The Golden Saucer returns featuring many mini-games from the original game. New mini-games have been added outside of the area like a card game called Queen’s Blood.
