5 Major Game Releases Coming in April 2022

With April right around the corner, it is time to check out some of the best game releases arriving in the next month.

From a couple of exciting releases to some intriguing wildcards, let’s get right into this selection of major game releases coming in April 2022.

Nintendo Switch Sports

Firstly, we’ve got Nintendo Switch Sports.

The sports simulation game is releasing for the Nintendo Switch on April 29. Tennis, bowling, swordplay, soccer, volleyball, and badminton are the six sports featured in Nintendo Switch Sports. It is playable both locally and online, with friends or in random matchmaking.

For me, Nintendo Switch Sports has a touch of nostalgia that makes me feel this game is going to be great. Having played countless hours of Wii Sports, I can safely say that those were some of the most entertaining moments I’ve experienced in a game. If Nintendo Switch Sports follows the same trend, it has everything to be an iconic experience.

Also, it would be amazing to see some of the classics make a comeback, like the Miis and the map Wuhu Island. In my opinion that would the icing on the cake. Let’s hope Nintendo doubles down on their previous success in this entry. As an icon of sports simulation games, this game had to be present in this selection of major game releases coming in April 2022.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

One of the most iconic universes is coming to the Lego world.

Releasing on April 5, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga allows players to experience the three Skywalker saga trilogies. The game will feature a wide range of explorable iconic Star Wars planets, like Tatooine and Coruscant.

To be honest, this is the most exciting April release for me. As a big fan of Star Wars, I can’t wait to play this game. The amount of detail present in this Lego entry is one of the factors that makes me super excited for this release. It is unlike any other Lego game, and I’m all for it.

With all the great combat and map design, one of the most underrated features for me is the mumble mode. The mode that makes the characters speak like they previously did in older Lego games is a great addition, that truly shows the developer’s attention to detail. I couldn’t be more excited for Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and for that, I chose to include it in this list of major game releases.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

If the previous game is not enough, here’s more Star Wars action.

An enhanced remastered version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, originally released in 2008, is coming to the Nintendo Switch on April 20. The third-person action game acts as a bridge between the two Star Wars trilogies. The game also features the origin story of the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Civil War.

The original game is definitely one of the best Star Wars games available, so this remaster can’t go wrong. For me, the hack and slash combat make for an electric experience that leaves you full of adrenaline. One other great aspect of the game is its captivating drama, which puts you right into the Star Wars narrative.

April is going to be a great month for Star Wars fans, especially those that are into gaming. If you have not experienced Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, I highly recommend you to play this game. You won’t regret it.

MLB The Show 22

The baseball video game is back for another entry.

Releasing on April 5, MLB The Show 22 is a baseball game based on the Major League Baseball, being the first MLB entry to feature a Nintendo Switch version. The game’s cover features Los Angeles Angels’ two-way player Shohei Ohtani.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical in adding this game to the selection of major game releases coming in April 2022, because I am not the biggest basketball fan. However, if the previous entry in the MLB franchise is any indication, then we’ve got something special in our hands. Even if you’re not a die-hard baseball fan, it is most definitely a fun experience.

Although it might take some time to get used to the mechanics of MLB The Show, the overall experience is worth the adaptation period. If the developers at San Diego Studio can identify the strong points of MLB The Show 21 and upgrade those even more, I believe this will be one of the best baseball games out there.

Back 4 Blood: Tunnels of Terror

Last but not least, we’ve got the Tunnels of Terror DLC coming to Back 4 Blood, on April 12.

The new content coming to Back 4 Blood features a new PvE co-op activity, called Ridden Hives, as well as exclusive skins and all-new cleaners. The Ridden Hives mode will introduce seven different dungeons, infested with a new Ridden species, the Warped Ridden.

Back 4 Blood is a great co-op experience, specially tailored for die-hard zombie fans, like me. The FPS experience is extremely satisfying and sturdy, serving as a strong foundation for the overall solid gameplay.

Also, the new card system is a clever addition, that improves character customization and allows the player to personalize their experience. The new DLC content coming in April is just another welcomed addition to an already respectable zombie experience, and for that, I chose to include it in this selection of major game releases coming in April 2022.

Not quite rising to the levels of previous selections of major game releases, April is still a solid month when it comes to new experiences.

What do you think of April’s major game releases? Would you change anything in this selection? Do you think March’s releases top April’s selection? Let me know in the comments down below!
