February not only sees the release of notable sequels but also the introduction of new and original horror movies. This month has paranormal horror, slashers, psychological horror, and more. There are also more films than we can fit on this list. Some honorable mentions include Dracula, The Dreadful, and The Mortuary Assistant (based on the incredibly popular horror game). If you’re looking for even more horror than is listed below, you have plenty of options!

5. Whistle
| Release Date | February 6th |
| Director | Dusty Mancinelli, Madeleine Sims-Fewer |
| Main Cast | Grace Glowicki, Ben Petrie, Jason Issac |
| Duration | 97 minutes |
Synopsis
A group of high schoolers uncover a cursed whistle that, once blown, will summon their deaths.
Why It Makes The List
There aren’t many reviews out for Whistle yet, but the couple that are out are all very positive. It seems to be a fun teen horror film where a variety of different deaths will be shown. The director behind this film is the same one behind the original The Nun movie (a film I think is incredibly underrated). He has shown that he can bring the scares, so I’m excited to see what he brings to a film where he appears to have a ton of creative freedom.
4. The Strangers: Chapter 3
| Release Date | February 6th |
| Director | Dusty Mancinelli, Madeleine Sims-Fewer |
| Main Cast | Grace Glowicki, Ben Petrie, Jason Issac |
| Duration | 91 minutes |
Synopsis
Maya faces off with the masked killers once again, realizing the only way to get out of this nightmare is to go further in.
Why It Makes The List
So, these Stranger films have not been faring well with audience members. I haven’t seen them yet, but maybe I’ll check them out once the story is fully over. It doesn’t seem as though many people have checked the film out either, as it continues to struggle at the box office. Still, the franchise name is strong enough to attract a crowd, and if The Strangers: Chapter 3 ends well, it could potentially be a small hit. Here’s hoping that this sequel makes the trilogy worth watching.
3. Honey Bunch
| Release Date | February 13th (Shudder) |
| Director | Dusty Mancinelli, Madeleine Sims-Fewer |
| Main Cast | Grace Glowicki, Ben Petrie, Jason Issac |
| Duration | 113 minutes |
Synopsis:
After an accident places Diana in a coma, with the aid of her husband, she goes to an experimental facility but soon questions her husband’s true motives.
Why It Makes The List
I enjoy a good psychological horror as much as the next person, but I’m hoping Honey Bunch has a bit more up its sleeve than what it seems. Because of how the movie presents itself, you already suspect that the husband did something to her. I can’t imagine it’d be so straightforward, though, especially with the film’s high Rotten Tomatoes score. This one has me very intrigued.
2. Psycho Killer
| Release Date | February 20th |
| Director | Gavin Polone |
| Main Cast | Georgina Campbell, Logan Miller, James Preston Rogers |
| Duration | TBA |
Synopsis
A police officer witnesses the death of her husband and takes it upon herself to search for the killer.
Why It Makes The List
I’m incredibly excited for this one. It seems as though this is Gavin Palone’s directorial debut. As a result, I’m unsure what to expect besides what was shown in the trailer. And the trailer gave me this grim crime thriller feeling that I see relations to Se7en and the recent Longlegs. But it also seems to have a more, perhaps, spiritual aspect to it that can relate more to Longlegs. There seems to be more horror involved here as well, with some pretty disturbing scenes taking place in the trailer. I’m
1. Scream 7
| Release Date | February 27th |
| Director | Kevin Williamson |
| Main Cast | Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Isabel May |
| Duration | 114 minutes |
Synopsis
A new Ghostface killer emerges, threatening to destroy the life that Sidney Prescott built.
Why It Makes The List
The past two Scream movies were great, and although this one won’t feature the sisters (Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera’s characters), it still looks to keep that same energy with Kevin Williamson directing. He is the original writer for Scream and has been with the franchise for a while. In my opinion, changing directors like this and bringing a different perspective is always a great sign for franchises to help them stay relevant and fresh. The change in character focus could also lead to some interesting storytelling avenues.
