I wonder if this will end up better than the Winnie The Pooh horror movie

I wonder if this will end up better than the Winnie The Pooh horror movie

Synopsis:

Based on the cherished cartoon character, I Heart Willie follows a group of friends who accidentally stumble upon pure evil.

Overview:

There isn’t much information on this film, but judging from the photo, this is sure to be a thrill ride. This reminds me of the horror movie based on Winnie The Pooh which did not sit too well with critics. Hopefully, this film can deliver a better experience. For now, though, the connection to Mickey Mouse and the photo have me curious to see more.

Vicious

Release Date February 28th
Director Bryan Bertino
Main Cast Dakota Fanning, Kathryn Hunter,
Duration Not Known Yet
The director has plenty of experience in this genre

The director has plenty of experience in this genre

Synopsis:

A woman fights for her life after receiving a gift from a late-night visitor.

Overview:

Originally set to come out in August of this year, Vicious has moved several months forward. The film is apparently ready. Usually, a film moving up its release date is a good sign but this is 6 months in advance. I’m not sure what that says for the film but the director and actress attached give me confidence. Little information is known yet, but the synopsis has certainly piqued my interest.

The Dead Thing

Release Date February 14th
Director Elric Kane
Main Cast Katherine Hughes, Blu Hunt, John Karna
Duration 94 mins
Love can be dangerous

Love can be dangerous

Synopsis:

A woman down her luck with relationships falls in love with a charismatic man, but his dark secret will turn their affair into a dangerous obsession.

Overview:

The synopsis doesn’t really do the film justice but I understand why they chose to word it the way they did. It’s to avoid as little as possible about the plot. I would avoid the trailer on this if possible and go in blind. The Dead Thing looks like it’s going to have some great thrills. At the center though, it looks like a mystery, and paired with horror, I can’t help but be excited.

The Monkey

Release Date February 21st
Director Osgood Perkins
Main Cast Theo James, Osgood Perkins, Elijah Woods
Duration 95 minutes
YouTube preview

Synopsis:

Twin brothers discover a toy monkey that they believe is the cause of a series of gruesome deaths. They throw it away only to discover it again years later.

Overview:

So, if you’ve seen the trailer for The Monkey, it seems ridiculous. The deaths they showed and how they occur are creative but also seem pretty silly. I haven’t read the short story this is based on so I’m curious to see how the story progresses and the creative deaths they can fit. I can’t imagine I’ll be too scared watching this but I’m hoping the surprising kills in the movie will have my jaw drop.

Heart Eyes

Release Date February 7th
Director Josh Ruben
Main Cast Jordana Brewster, Devon Sawa, Olivia Holt
Duration 90 mins
YouTube preview

Synopsis:

A serial killer known as the “Heart Eyes Killer” who strikes on Valentine’s Day is back again this year, and no couple is safe.

Overview:

Heart Eyes releases the weekend before Valentine’s Day. It’s the perfect February horror movie. The theater is most likely going to be packed for this film. The trailer looked incredibly fun and stylish. Although I’m not the biggest slasher fan, I will admit, this one piqued my interest. The killer’s design seems simple yet unique with the glowing heart eyes. I’m hoping it delivers on those scares as well as comedy. I’m also optimistic for this film with Josh Ruben at the helm. His film, Scare Me, had me on edge the entire film. If this film is as great as I think it will be, we might have the start of another horror franchise.
