Finish winter off right with some terrifying looking new horrors releasing this February. This month it’s all new projects with a great diversity of settings. From the stone age to the 80s to the modern day. There’s also a whole lot of star power, with The Vampire Diaries’s Paul Wesley, Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse and Evil Dead Rise’s Lily Sullivan in different films coming out this February.
Baghead
Baghead releases on 8th February 2024 to cinemas.
The first on our list of the biggest horror movies releasing this February is supernatural horror Baghead. Originally coming out in January it appears to have been pushed back to February due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The film stars Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and Freya Allen (The Witcher).
Based on a short film with the same name, the plot asks if you could ask a dead loved one a question, even with a strong chance of something going wrong, would you? The film follows Iris and Kevin who seek answers from beyond the grave with the help of a shapeshifting being called Baghead who speaks for the deceased, although not without consequences.
Lisa Frankenstein
Lisa Frankenstein releases on 9th February 2024 to cinemas.
Upcoming Horror-Comedy Lisa Frankenstein is a murderous romance about a goth girl bringing a Victorian era man back to life. Diablo Cody, who won an Academy Award and BAFTA for the film Juno, has written the film. It stars Kathryn Newton as Lisa (Freaky, Antman and the Wasp) and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody) as the main characters.
During a storm, the misunderstood Lisa uses an old tanning machine to resurrect the handsome corpse from the Victorian era. The pair then embark on a tale of love, happiness, and murder.
Out of Darkness
Out of Darkness releases on 9th February 2024 to cinemas.
The Palaeolithic era is getting it’s time in the sun with the soon to be released Out of Darkness. Safia Oakley-Green (Requiem, The Lazarus Project), Chuku Modu (The Good Doctor, The 100), and Luna Mwezi (Needle Park Baby, School of Champions) to name just a few, star in this horror set way back in the Stone Age.
When a boat reaches the shores of the tundra, a small group of 6 stone age survivors must make the desperate journey to the distant mountains to shelter in the caves. The land may seem desolate, but when night falls they find out they are not alone in this land.
History of Evil
History of Evil releases on 23rd February 2024 to Shudder.
This upcoming horror has some great star power, with Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black) and Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries, Fallen) performing in this Horror-Thriller. The film is written and directed by Bo Mirhosseni, previously known for music videos and shorts.
A corrupt state has a family on the run. When they seek shelter in a safe house, they find that it has an evil past. Other than that, details are light at the moment. The film will release to shudder and is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Monolith
Monolith releases on 16th February 2024 to cinemas and digitally.
With Lily Sullivan, the star of Evil Dead Rise in the main role, Monolith is a horror to be excited for this February. The film is centred around one actor and one location to create a claustrophobic atmosphere. It received strong reviews at its South By Southwest festival premiere and so has to be one the biggest horror movies releasing this February.
Lily Sullivan plays a disgraced journalist who has turned to investigative podcasting. As she digs into a conspiracy surrounding a strange artifact and alien life she must uncover the lies in her story and grapple with the nature of truth.
