Stuck on the new easter egg in Shattered Veil in Black Ops 6 Zombies? You’re not alone. This map, released in Season 3, has caught the attention of players for its creepy atmosphere and the number of hidden steps required to unlock all its secrets. But don’t worry, in this guide we explain exactly what to do to complete it, step by step.
The first thing we will need is to find the Pack-a-Punch machine. This part is relatively simple, as there will be markers that will facilitate the journey. To access it, it is necessary to repair the mansion’s elevator, and to do so, two key items are required: a fuse and a motherboard. Both can be obtained before or after finding and interacting with the elevator, although we recommend doing it in the following order:
- Advance to the main entrance of the mansion.
- In the first room, where the dinosaur skeleton is, open the door on the right.
- Reach the library and go up the stairs next to the next door.
- At the end of the hallway, you will find a zombie leaning against the wall. Kill it and pick up the fuse.
Get the Motherboard
- Continue through the doors until you reach the Rear Patio.
- Open the door that will lead you to the Western Balcony.
- Go up the stairs and enter the Director’s Quarters.
- To the left of the bed, you will find some computers; shoot them so they drop the motherboard and pick it up.
Repair the Elevator
- Return to the Rear Patio and enter through the door in front of the Double Tap Root Beer machine.
- You will find the elevator; go to the back and interact with the fuse box to repair it.
- Now go ahead to call the elevator, but take your precautions, as doing so will spawn a horde of zombies.
- Call the elevator again; this will cause it to collapse and you can use the cable to go up and down.
As you go down the elevator, you will arrive at the Mainframe Chamber, where you can see the AI SAM. Now you just need to go up to the Security Overlook, where you will find the Pack-a-Punch machine. Now then, upgrade your weapon and we can start with the Shattered Veil easter egg.
How to Get the Ray Gun Mark II
The Ray Gun Mark II is a Wonder Weapon that can be obtained through the Mystery Box. You can increase the chances of getting it by using the Gobblegum Wonderbar!, which guarantees that the next weapon to come out of the Mystery Box will be an Wonder Weapon.
However, there is a way to get the Ray Gun Mark II for free and guaranteed in Shattered Veil, which turns out to be very useful, as this weapon is necessary to complete the easter egg of this map. To get it, just follow these steps:
Get the Floppy Disk
- Head to the Mainframe Chamber (where SAM is).
- Reach wave 10, as from this round a special zombie will appear.
- Search and eliminate the special zombie named “Lab Technician”; it wears a white coat and has purple eyes.
- Once you eliminate it, it will drop a floppy disk (also known as diskette). Take it and head to the East Foyer (the room to the right of where the dinosaur skeleton is located).
- Interact with the computer that is turned on in a corner, next to a fax machine.
- Diskette.
- Computer where the floppy disk must be used.
Fax Passwords
- As soon as the fax machine receives a message (when a sheet comes out of it), interact with the fax machine.
- Now you can read the fax message; it contains a word in uppercase that you must memorize.
- Head to the Nursery area and look for the chalkboard with letters.
- Now you must find the password using the word that came from the fax. To do this, take one by one the letters that make up the word and look for them on the blackboard.
- Count how many letters are in the set of letters where you found the letter and that will be the corresponding number.
For example, if your word is MOTH, and the M is in the group with 7 letters, then the first digit is 7. If the O is in a group with 3 letters, the second digit is 3, and so on.
- Fax keywords.
- Chalkboard to generate the code.
These words and the groups on the board change with each game, so you should not be confident if you get the same word in different games believing it will be the same password.
How to Get the Severed Arm
- Once you have deciphered your password, return to the Mainframe Chamber.
- Find a locked door that leads to the Service Tunnel and open it.
- At the back, you’ll find a special Doppelghast locked up. Prepare your weapons to face it and a couple of toxic zombies that will appear.
- Open the door using the password you decrypted.
- Defeat the Doppelghast and it will drop the Severed Arm, which you can take.
- Doppelghast containment location.
- Severed arm.
Open the Armory Door
- Head to the Supply Depot, next to the teleporter that takes you back to the starting area of Shattered Veil.
- Interact with the armory door to enter it.
- Approach the display case and interact with it to use the Severed Arm on the security scanner.
- Armory door.
- Ray Gun Mark II display case.
Now you can take the Ray Gun Mark II and continue with the Shattered Veil Easter Egg. The next step is to upgrade it.
How to Upgrade the Ray Gun Mark II
To progress in the Shattered Veil Easter Egg, you need to upgrade the Ray Gun Mark II. This upgrade transforms it into one of its three elemental variants, but first, you must obtain three Empty Canisters. You can get them in any order you prefer. Here is how to obtain them.
First Empty Container
- Get an LT53 Kazimir grenade. You can craft it at the crafting table for 1500 salvage or find one for free in the Service Tunnel, where a zombie lying on some debris next to a truck has it.
- Head to the Rear Patio and go down the stairs, near the ammo box.
- Right under the Double Tap machine, you will see a gap where zombies appear. Throw the LT53 Kazimir grenade near that spot.
- If you did it correctly, the grenade will open a portal that will attract an empty container and you will be able to take it.
- Perfect spot to throw the LT53 Kazimir.
- First Empty Canister.
Second Empty Container
To obtain the second Empty Canister, you must shoot at some purple crystals scattered across the map. Only one of them will drop the canister, so you will have to check them one by one. The locations of the crystals are as follows:
- On the roof at the end of the Service Tunnel.
- On the roof of the Conservatory, near the Quick Revive machine.
- On the ceiling of the East Foyer, in the same room where the fax machine is located.
- On the South West Balcony facade, near the chalkboard with letters.
- Service Tunnel.
- Conservatory.
- East Foyer.
- South West Balcony.
Third Empty Container
To obtain the third Empty Container, you will need to use Combat Axes. You can craft these at a crafting table, collect them around the map, or get them from zombies that drop them when they die. Once you have them, follow these steps:
- Head to the Mainframe Chamber.
- Next to the crafting table, you will see a tube with a corpse inside and, to the left, a yellow label with a letter. Memorize it.
- Go to the Service Tunnel.
- Look towards the outskirts of the map, right behind the barbed wire railing. You will see some pipes from which gas is emitting.
- Throw the axes at the valves, being careful to aim a little higher to hit them properly. You must redirect the gas towards the pipe with the letter you memorized earlier.
- Return to the Mainframe Chamber.
- Throw a grenade or Molotov cocktail at the pipe which will now be filled with gas to make it explode and obtain the Empty Container.
- Open gas valves.
- Gas-filled tube.
Get the Ray Gun Mark II-P Shotgun
This is the most time-consuming variant of the Ray Gun Mark II to obtain, so it is recommended that it be the first one you try to get or that you progress in its steps while doing others from the Shattered Veil Easter Egg. The steps are as follows:
Destroy the multiple wooden crates scattered across the map (the same ones that can give you scraps or contain a Critter), until you find an Essence Bomb. Don’t despair, it’s rare to come by, but the crates respawn, so you have plenty of opportunities.
- Head to the Conservatory and look for a fountain next to the Quick Revive machine.
- Inside the fountain, a circular piece should be visible; this is a reflector. Interact with it to collect it.
- Head to the South West Balcony, outside the room with the blackboard, where you will find another similar fountain. Take the second reflector.
- Go to the Service Tunnel and search for some debris on the wall, next to the level 3 armor upgrade, between two ventilation grates.
- Interact with the debris to place the Essence Bomb. This will open a secret passage.
- Essence Bomb.
- First Reflector.
- Second Reflector.
- Debris to place the Essence Bomb.
Snake Mound Puzzle
Upon entering the passageway, a battle will start against three Doppelghasts, so make sure to have your weapons and armor well upgraded before proceeding. It is also recommended to reduce the number of active zombies before starting.
Enter through the tunnel until you reach a room with a huge snake statue and look for a yellow machine to place the Empty Container. Once the container is placed, a beam of light will appear from a crystal.
Now begins the puzzle and battle against the Doppelghast:
- Follow the beam to where it ends and interact with that point to place a reflector.
- The lightning will change direction. Follow its new path and place the second reflector where it ends.
- Now the beam will target a Doppelghast statue. Hit the crystal from where the beam emanates to reanimate the Doppelghast.
- Defeat the Doppelghast and go to where you placed the second reflector to collect it.
- Go to the top of the room through the tunnel. Place the reflector you took and adjust it with a melee hit until it points to another statue. If necessary, adjust the first reflector as well.
- Once the beam is correctly aimed at another Doppelghast statue, hit the crystal again to reanimate it.
- Defeat the second Doppelghast and then adjust the first reflector so that the beam points to the last statue.
- Hit the crystal once more and defeat the third Doppelghast.
- Take the container and head to the Director’s Quarters, the same place where you obtained the motherboard, there look for the workbench and interact with it to upgrade your weapon to the Ray Gun Mark II-P Shotgun.
- Reanimated Doppelghast statue.
- Ray Gun Mark II-F Shotgun.
Important: During the confrontation with the Doppelghasts, do not leave the room. If you kill one outside of that area, it will not count towards the challenge and you will have to wait for the next round to try again.
Get the Ray Gun Mark II-W Explosive
You must head to the Shem’s Henge. In front of the Speed Cola machine, you will see a yellow machine: this will be key to initiating a special battle against an abomination. This fight has particular mechanics, so it’s not just about eliminating it like any other.
Before activating the yellow machine, make sure to have upgraded your weapons and armor. It is also advisable to eliminate most of the zombies, leaving only a few to prevent the round from advancing during combat.
- Interact with the yellow machine in the Shem’s Henge to place the Empty Container and make the abomination appear.
- Use the small rocks around the combat area as cover. Position yourself so that the beam the abomination fires hits one of them.
- When lightning strikes a rock, it will start glowing with a blue glow. At that moment, make the abomination charge at it.
- If you do it correctly, the rock will start to float. Repeat this same process until all three rocks are floating.
- Once achieved, return and interact with the yellow machine to take the container.
- Head to the Supply Depot, find the workbench and interact with it to use the container and create the Explosive Mark II-W Ray Gun.
- Rock struck by the Abomination’s ray.
- Platform to defend.
Get the Ray Gun Mark II-R Toxic
To obtain the Toxic upgrade for the Ray Gun, you need to destroy some spores that appear scattered throughout the map. You can do this with explosives or with the basic Ray Gun (without upgrades) to obtain a seed.
The location of these spores varies in each game, but they always appear at fixed points, so you will need to search for them each time. Keep this in mind before you start.
- Get four seeds.
- Head to the Conservatory and interact with the yellow machine to place the Empty Container.
- Interact with one of the yellow incubators to place a seed.
- Protect the seed from the zombies until it fully matures. Repeat this process with the four incubators.
- Upon completing the defenses, all spores will explode and you will be able to take the container.
- Head to the Garden Pond, the same place where the game starts.
- Look for the workbench and interact with it to use the container and create the Toxic Mark II-R Ray Gun.
- Incubator to defend.
- Workbench in the Garden Pond.
Important: While you are defending a seed, you must not leave the Conservatory, otherwise you will have to repeat that defense. However, you can leave between each seed defense, so it is not mandatory to do them all consecutively. You can take advantage of this break to complete other steps of the Shattered Veil easter egg.
The Three Summons
Now that you have all the upgrades for the Ray Gun Mark II, you can switch between them by interacting with the respective workbenches at any time. You will need to use each of the variants to continue with the Shattered Veil Easter Egg. The following summons can be done in the order you prefer.
Purple Portal Summon
To perform this ritual, you need the Mark II-P Ray Gun Shotgun (the purple one), which you can obtain at the workbench in the Director’s Quarters. Once you have it, head to the Banquet Hall.
Interact with the computer next to the large portrait on the wall. A horde of zombies will appear which you must eliminate using only the Ray Gun Mark II-P. If done correctly, the portrait will turn into a portal, go through it to reach the Liminal Banquet Hall and follow the steps below:
- Search for and take the only red bottle in the room.
- Head to the Bottlery and look for a metal cup on a table. Interact with it to summon an Elder Disciple and defeat it.
- Head to the Overlook and look for another metal cup on a bench next to a green box. Defeat the Elder Disciple.
- In the Garden Pond, find the last metal cup next to the bridge, on a stone bench. Interact with it and defeat the Elder Disciple.
- Return to the Banquet Hall and memorize the series of digits that will appear on the walls around the elevator.
- Head to the West Hallways and search for the safe. Enter the numbers you memorized and take the artifact it contains.
- Return to the Liminal Banquet Hall and place the Sentinel Artifact on the pedestal.
- A special Elder Disciple will appear whose defense can only be destroyed with the Mark II-P Ray Gun. After defeating him, take the artifact again and continue with the next summon.
- Red Bottle.
- First Chalice.
- Second Chalice.
- Third Chalice.
Blue Portal Summon
For this ritual, you need the Mark II-W Ray Gun (the blue one), which you can obtain at the workbench in the Supply Depot. Once you have it, head to the Banquet Hall where the elevator is, and follow these steps. (If you have already completed the purple ritual, you can perform the first step before obtaining the Mark II-W Ray Gun).
- In the Banquet Hall, go towards where the deer heads are, near the Gobblegum machine. On a cardboard box on a small table, you will find a lamp. Take it.
- Head to the Grand Foyer, beside a bookcase near the corner of Juggernugg. You will see a hole in the wall with which you must interact to place the lamp.
- Now, this lamp and the one next to it will light up in a specific order. You must interact with them in that same order. Repeat this process three times to open the secret passage to the Distillery.
- Once in the Distillery, you will find a computer next to a portrait on the wall. Interact with it and eliminate zombies using only the Ray Gun Mark II-W to open the portal.
- Wall lamp.
- Hole in the wall.
Now that the portal has been opened, you can enter it, although it is not yet necessary to do so. In this case, you must leave the Distillery and do the following:
- Head to the Study to look for the Service Bell. Its position changes each game, but it is generally found in the display cases behind glass. I recommend destroying all the glass by shooting them or with an explosive, and then search the room by holding down the interaction button as it is very hard to see.
- Equip the Brain Rot ammo mod on one of your weapons.
- Head to the Overlook, to the part where the minibar is, and interact with the counter to place the Service Bell.
- Now, try to make the Brain Rot effect affect a zombie in this area, and immediately after interact with the bell.
- The zombie will prepare a drink for you, take it and head back to the Distillery portal. Place the Sentinel Artifact on the pedestal to start a battle against a Special Mangler.
- The Mangler will have a shield that can only be broken with the Ray Gun Mark II-W. Once the armor is broken, it will be vulnerable to any attack until it regenerates its defense.
- Once the Mangler is defeated, take the Sentinel Artifact again.
- Blue Portal Portrait.
- Display cases where the Service Bell can be found.
- Service Bell on the counter.
- Zombie making a drink.
Green Portal Summon
For this final ritual, you need the Aether Shroud and the Mark II-R Ray Gun (the green one), which you can obtain at the workbench in the Garden Pond.
During this section of the Shattered Veil Easter egg, some tubes will appear in the Mainframe Chamber and its adjacent rooms, which will give you an Aether Shroud charge.
Once you have everything ready, head to the Library, to the right of the room with the dinosaur skeleton, and follow these steps:
- Interact with the computer next to the portrait on the wall.
- Eliminate zombies with the Ray Gun Mark II-R until the portal opens, then enter it.
- Upon exiting the portal, look for three objects that are only visible while using the Aether Shroud. Their locations vary in each game, but they can be the following:
- On the briefcase located on the couch next to the portal in the Library.
- On the briefcase in the East Foyer.
- On the desk in the East Foyer.
- On the desk in the Study.
- In the fireplace of the Study.
- In the fireplace of the East Foyer.
- In the fireplace of the Banquet Hall.
- On the desk of the Overlook, next to the minibar.
Once you have collected the three artifacts, return to the Library. On the bookshelf, you will find three books glowing with symbols on them. You must interact with them in the following order, in quick succession:
- Rotated ‘6’ symbol.
- Circle symbol with a line through the middle.
- Three small circles.
If you do it correctly, a secret door will open to the left of the bookshelves. Enter, collect the documents on the table, and return to the portal to place the Sentinel Artifact on the pedestal that will appear.
This will initiate a battle against the Special Amalgam. Just like with previous rituals, its armor can only be destroyed with the Ray Gun Mark II-R. Once defeated, take the Sentinel Artifact and continue towards the last part of the Shattered Veil Easter egg.
How to Face and Defeat Z-Rex, the Secret Boss of Shattered Veil
The final part of the Shattered Veil Easter egg consists of a battle against the secret boss Z-Rex, a Zombie T-Rex. To face it, it is mandatory to have completed all the previous steps. Additionally, we recommend upgrading your weapons and armor, and stocking up on grenades, sodas, and Gobblegums.
Once you have everything ready, follow these steps:
- Head to the Mainframe Chamber.
- Activate the main computer.
- You will be transported to the final battle against Z-Rex.
- Z-Rex will advance devouring toxic zombies. Wait for its stomach to glow green and shoot there to cancel its toxic attacks and cause a lot of damage. Shooting inside its mouth is also very effective.
- Every so often, Z-Rex will jump out of the area to spit toxic fluids. During this stage, it will be invulnerable to damage and zombies will continue to appear, so be very careful and do not waste bullets on it.
- When Z-Rex’s health is reduced to half, it will become more aggressive and faster. This will be a good time to make use of the helicopter attack (if you have it) or the Aether Shroud.
In reality, Z-Rex is a fairly simple boss and the easiest part of the whole process. Once you defeat him, you will have completed the Shattered Veil Easter egg. Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is available to play on Xbox, Playstation, and PC.
