Dawn of the Hunt is the first major update for Path of Exile 2 since its early access last December. It will arrive on April 4 and will include the new class: the Huntress, five new ascendancies, over 100 support gems, new unique items, and endgame improvements.
Path of Exile 2: Dawn of the Hunt will be released simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games Store on April 4, 2025. The content will also be available in the existing Early Access leagues for those who wish to play their current characters. However, it is recommended to start anew in a fresh economy to fully enjoy the Dawn of the Hunt experience.
The Huntress: Expert in Hybrid Combat
Banished from her homeland, the Huntress stalks her prey with a combat style that combines ranged and melee attacks. Her brutal arsenal turns each encounter into a merciless hunt.
- Whirling Slash: creates a whirlwind that blinds enemies before making them explode in a catastrophic explosion that scales with the slashes made.
- Parry: blocks incoming damage and stuns enemies.
- Equip the Disengage skill gem: allows a quick backward jump, damaging enemies and cancelling other actions, such as dodges.
Stalk your prey with a series of elemental spear attacks that empower the Huntress to unleash more attack combinations, or work with your tamed beasts and equip modifiers. The possibilities are endless.
Five New Ascendancy Classes
The update also introduces five new Ascendancy Classes, each with unique mechanics.
Ritualist
The Ritualist dominates the forbidden traditions of the Azmeri, using blood sacrifices and plagues as weapons.
- Corrupted Lifeforce infects enemies with explosive sores that spread corrupted blood upon death.
- As the Whispers Ask grants the Ritual Sacrifice ability, allowing you to consume rare monster corpses to gain a powerful temporary modifier.
Amazon
The Amazon is a lethal and precise Ascendancy, dedicated to protecting the Azmeri Elders.
- Predatory Instinct marks rare and unique enemies, exposing their weaknesses for quick elimination.
- Elemental Infusion turns each projectile into a devastating explosion by consuming elemental charges.
Smith of Kitava
The Smiths of Kitava channel the power of Kitava to elevate blacksmithing to its highest form.
- Against the Anvil imbues your weapons with searing destruction and allows you to summon an animated copy of your weapon to fight alongside you.
- Players can customize their armor by adding life, resistance, or other enhancements through disconnected notable skills.
Tactician
The Tactician, former soldier of the Blackguard, combines strategy and brutality to exterminate enemies while acquiring a healthy income.
- Suppressing Fire immobilizes enemies with projectiles. With Right Where We Want Them, it also blocks their actions.
- Whoever Pays Best allows players to place multiple Banners at once.
- Watch How I Do It transfers part of their weapon damage to their allies.
- Unleash Hell orders a rain of arrows from off-screen.
Lich
The Lich embraces undeath, mastering Chaos and Curses while sacrificing their own life to enhance their Energy.
- Crystalline Phylactery binds a jewel to your soul, empowering it in exchange for a higher mana cost.
- Necromantic Conduit grants Unholy Might to you and your allies, increasing their Chaos Damage.
New Skill and Support Gems
Dawn of the Hunt introduces the long-awaited gem Raise Spectre, which allows capturing and summoning the souls of almost any monster. Spectres automatically revive and require Spirit to stay active. Summoning Rhoa allows calling a Rhoa to fight by your side or ride it to move quickly.
Additionally, over 100 new support gems are added, such as Alignment, which rewards precision in bow attacks, Haemocrystals, which turn bleeding into Vaal explosions, and Caltrops, which cover the battlefield with hazards.
Unique Items and Powerful Amulets
The update brings new unique items:
- Chernobog’s Pillar: enhances fire damage based on block chance.
- The Coming Calamity: grants the three Elemental Herald Skills for free and reduces enemy resistances.
- Waistgate: allows equipping two life or mana flasks, ideal for Blood Magic or Archmage builds.
- Beira’s Anguish: protects from Ignition and unleashes a fiery nova upon activation.

Improvements to Runes and the Endgame
Runes now scale across multiple tiers, allowing for stronger mods. In the endgame, Towers are reduced to a third of their previous number but are more powerful. Tablets now include twice as many mechanics, scaling in higher level maps.
Players can resurrect up to six times per map, with attempts decreasing as Waystone modifiers increase. Corrupted Maps have also been revised, introducing enhanced bosses and a new challenge: a boss born from corruption itself.
New Maps, Essences, and Unique Items
Five unique maps bring unprecedented challenges. The Fractured Lake alters reality with mirrored monsters and a Broken Mirror that hides a special Base Type. Phaaryl Megaliths unleashes waves of bosses in Ezomyte, granting exclusive Runes.
Essences now include four corrupted versions (Hysteria, Delirium, Horror, Insanity) with new crafting combinations. Additionally, the Twilight Order Reliquary Keys allow access to community-chosen pinnacle boss loot.
Unique pinnacle boss items can now appear at any difficulty with adjusted rarity. Dawn of the Hunt introduces Unique Tablets that modify maps with wild effects, while the Atlas Tree expands with new enhancements and mechanics.
Duel With Rogue Exiles
Players can face hostile Rogue Exiles, who use skills and items similar to those of a real player. Each Rogue Exile has its own personality, and if they manage to defeat you, they escape with their reward.
With these improvements, Dawn of the Hunt redefines the experience of Path of Exile 2, offering new challenges, more customization, and a deeper endgame.
