Keelan Ayodele and Ines Raya, The New Descendants

The first new Descendant introduced is Keelan Ayodele, a H.O.U.N.D. specialized Void unit member, and a Toxic Attribute Descendant. His standout ability is Onslaught, a dash attack that not only cuts through enemies but also applies Acidic Decay. The more Acidic Decay stacks an enemy has, the greater the damage Keelan’s skills deal. Onslaught can even be used mid-air, boosting his overall mobility. Additionally, Keelan’s skills don’t require MP to use, which gives him more flexibility in battle. He will be available to unlock right after Season 2 drops, through the new Vessel of Ancestors Dungeon.

The second new Descendant coming in The First Descendant‘s Season 2 is Ines Raya. While we don’t know everything about her just yet, we do know she’s an Electric Attribute Descendant with a sleek black bodysuit (and a similar build to Hailey) and is in the same unit as Keelan. She’s an AoE damage specialist and will be making her debut in Week 7, though she will make an appearance as an NPC during Season 2’s story.

Ultimate Sharen

The next major content that will arrive with the game’s Season 2 is Ultimate Sharen, where her personal story takes center stage. As a half-machine, she’s on a quest to rediscover her humanity and true identity. This journey will culminate in a confrontation with her nemesis, though details remain scarce for now. It’s possible this could be tied to the Void Chaser referenced in the title, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Turning to her special Transcendent Modules, here’s what we know so far:

  • Area Suppression: This module enhances Sharen’s AoE capabilities, allowing her to throw her Shortswords in a full 360-degree arc. With each use, you’ll trigger cooldown reductions, enabling you to spam the ability and clear areas with ease.

  • Ambushed: For players who prefer a Stealth approach, this module offers significant boosts. It increases movement speed while in Stealth, shortens cooldowns, and—perhaps most notably—stealth kills will reset the Stealth ability, giving you the chance to stay nearly invisible throughout battles. This will be especially useful in the new Void Vessel missions.

It is currently unknown whether you can obtain Ultimate Sharen through conventional farming methods using Amorphous Material Patterns, as the developers didn’t specify this matter during the developer commentary video, which we have linked to this news article’s end section.

New Ultimate Weapon: Hammer and Anvil

Alongside the new Descendants, Season 2 of The First Descendant will also roll out a new Ultimate Weapon: Hammer and Anvil. This Ultimate Weapon is a powerful shotgun that shines in close-range combat, especially when you’re hip-firing. This weapon has two distinct firing modes, letting you switch depending on the situation. In Hammer mode, when you’re Hip Firing, you’ll unleash a wide spread of shots, just like a classic shotgun, perfect for clearing out groups of enemies in your path.

But when you aim down sights, the weapon switches to Anvil mode, where you fire individual projectiles that explode after a short delay, sending buckshot flying in all directions. One of the unique features of the Hammer and Anvil is its ability to slow down enemies with its Movement Speed Reduction effect, making it easier to chase down or control your foes.

Keep in mind that the image below does not mean that there are two Hammer and Anvil, as one of them is just the weapon skin for it.

New Endgame Contents

With the new characters and even a new Ultimate Descendant ready to greet all players in The First Descendant‘s Season 2, Void Chaser, the developers will also introduce multiple new endgame contents designed to challenge the players’ knowledge, perseverance, and skills. They are Vessel of Ancestors Dungeon, Void Abyss Intercept Battle, Hard Special Operations, and Void Erosion Control.

Vessel of Ancestors Dungeon

A fresh dungeon experience is coming to The First Descendant with the introduction of the Vessel of the Ancestors. This dungeon will be accessible in both Normal and Hard modes, but players will need to be at least Mastery Rank 8 to dive in. Not only does this dungeon serve as the key to unlocking Keelan and Companions, but it also promises a unique challenge thanks to its randomized layouts, ensuring no two runs are ever the same. Stealth will be your best friend here—sneaking past enemies to avoid overwhelming reinforcements is essential. If you’re caught by sentries or traps, get ready for intense combat. The final boss is Dread Armor, a formidable new enemy type, and some monsters come with Anti-Void Shields, which means only Skills can bring them down.

The Void Abyss Intercept Battle

The First Descendant is also adding an exciting new endgame Void Intercept Battle. This content introduces Colossus mutations with a new ability—Void Reflux Mode. Replacing the usual Frenzied state, Void Reflux Mode brings a range of new abilities to these mutated Colossi, along with the ability to regenerate destroyed body parts. This battle mode is designed specifically for solo players, offering a unique challenge for those who prefer to tackle the toughest content on their own.

Hard Special Operations

Special Operations is about to get a lot tougher with the introduction of Hard Mode. Players can expect higher-level monsters and new layouts that increase the difficulty, making each mission more challenging. To reward the added difficulty, players will be able to earn better rewards, making this an enticing option for veterans seeking a more intense experience.

Void Erosion Control

In Week 7, the final endgame content of Season 2 will arrive in the form of Void Erosion missions. These missions will challenge four-player teams as they fight through multiple increasingly difficult stages. Teamwork will be crucial, as players take on Vulgus and other powerful bosses. With a planned maximum of 30 stages, this will be the ultimate test for any team. The rewards are well worth it, as these missions will provide essential materials for Weapon Core Unlocking, a new system that allows players to enhance their weapons by unlocking five Core slots. This system will help you optimize your weapons’ performance, boost their specs, and make them even more powerful.

New Skins Coming to The First Descendant

A new batch of skins is on the way for The First Descendant players. Among the highlights is a new evolving skin for Valby, which will feature reduced evolution requirements. The developers acknowledged that the previous system was too demanding, requiring players to use one Descendant extensively. The updated system will make the evolution process much easier, providing a more balanced experience.

Additionally, players can expect new skins for Sharen, Bunny, Viessa, Hailey, Kayle, Jayber, and Esiemo. The upcoming update will also include common skins, such as Colossus skins available as rewards, as well as casual skins like winter white outfits for both genders and a green sportswear set for male characters. Notably, skins shared across multiple characters will be transferable, allowing for greater customization options.

Event Skins for the holidays are also on the horizon. In December, Christmas-themed skins will be released for Hailey, Valby, and Bunny. Looking ahead to January, Lunar New Year skins inspired by traditional costumes from Korea, Japan, and China will be available. These skins will be shareable for all female characters.

Finally, Descendant skins that were previously exclusive to bundles will now be available as standalone items. In the future, players can also look forward to additional event skins, including Hot Spring and Valentine’s Day sets.

The First Descendant’s Season 2: Void Chaser Release Date

The new Season 2 for The First Descendant, Void Chaser, will be available for all players on December 5, 2024. While this big update brings many new things to the players, Season 2 will be split into two major updates, just like Season 1, Invasion. The second batch of updates comes on the Season’s Week 7 Update, which drops right in the middle of January, specifically on January 16, 2025. The last batch of updates will come in February 2025, when Nexon plans to bring Valentine-themed skins among many others.
