The First Descendant Roadmap Reveals Ultimate Yujin, Grim Reaper, and Major 2026 Updates

Nexon’s looter-shooter, The First Descendant, is getting a huge December 4 update with Ultimate Yujin, the Forbidden Sanctuary Infiltration Operation, new Grim Reaper Void Abyss boss, fresh gear, balance changes, winter events, and a packed roadmap leading into Season 4 in Summer 2026.

The First Descendant Roadmap Reveals Ultimate Yujin, Grim Reaper, and Major 2026 UpdatesNexon has laid out an ambitious future for The First Descendant, starting with a chunky December 4 update and stretching into a reworked endgame and a climactic Season 4 in summer 2026. The latest developer livestream on December 2 detailed a new Ultimate Descendant, fresh activities, trading updates, and a long-term roadmap.

Below is everything coming soon, plus what players can expect in the first half of next year.

1. Ultimate Yujin Leads The December 4 Update

The headline addition is Ultimate Yujin, a powered-up version of the game’s core support Descendant that leans harder into risk-reward healing and party buffs.

Key Ultimate Yujin highlights:

  • New story chapter that expands Yujin’s lore and unlock process.
  • Two exclusive Modules:
    • Combat Protocol turns HP into Skill Damage, then uses buffs and debuffs to heal back.
    • Battlefield Medic boosts your attack as you stay in a support role, rewarding active team play.
  • A premium skin, “Extreme Savior”, launches alongside the character.

Base Yujin is also getting a lift. His buff strength is being increased so parties feel a clearer damage spike when he is around, and he gains an extra Movement Speed buff plus smoother skill usage across the board.

2. Forbidden Sanctuary Adds A Toxic New Infiltration Operation

The new Infiltration Operation, Forbidden Sanctuary, is set in an Order of Truth lab buried under Axion and appears designed to address complaints about previous difficulty spikes.

2.1 Forbidden Sanctuary Information

  • Set inside a secret experimental facility in Axion.
  • Difficulty scaling by party size has been reworked to avoid the brutal jumps seen in Medium Facility and Supermassive Receptor.
  • Features a new boss, Abandoned Fusion Form, a hybrid of human and Vulgus that leans heavily on Toxic attack patterns.
  • Acts as the main farm for Ultimate Yujin Blueprints and new Trigger Modules.
  • Weekly clears can reward up to 10 Ancestors Modules, making it a key stop for late-game progression.

3. Grim Reaper Joins Void Abyss As A New Colossus

Void Abyss is also expanding with Grim Reaper, a variant of Death Stalker themed around Toxic damage.

All Grim Reaper details:

  • A new Void Abyss Intercept Battle set entirely in Void Space for a fresh arena feel.
  • Built around broad AoE patterns that reward tight dodging and clean attack windows.
  • Comes with Grim Reaper-themed skins and Colotoys, giving fashion hunters a reason to grind the encounter.

For players who already farm Void Abyss, Grim Reaper looks like another high-end check of survivability, pattern recognition, and team coordination.

4. New External Components, Modules, And Melee Builds

Several characters and melee builds are getting more options to play with.

Bunny players receive a new External Component set, the Sprint Accelerator, designed as an alternative to the dominant Slayer set. It focuses on mobility and flow rather than pure burst, which should open up different endgame setups.

Three new Trigger Modules target damage-over-time kits and movement:

  • Infected Weapon applies Arche Infection via continuous damage and adds extra damage when you use Unique Weapons, with clear synergy for Freyna.
  • Ground Eruption adds extra hits when Global DoT affects enemies marked by ground-based DoT skills, helping Viessa and Valby run both DoT types together.
  • Instant Acceleration gives a Movement Speed buff after you exit a movement-restricting skill, so you can quickly reposition after being locked down.

Melee builds also benefit from three new Modules:

  • Execution ramps up Critical Hit Damage when you kill enemies in a single blow, rewarding aggressive chain kills.
  • Overpower is an Impact Rounds-specific Module that increases melee Critical Hit Damage on Special Attacks.
  • Eye of Morvalde is another Impact Rounds option that heavily boosts Crit Damage on crits but has a cooldown, encouraging tempo-based burst windows.

5. Ajax Rework, Smart Casting, And System Upgrades

On the balance side, Ajax is getting meaningful tweaks to let him fight more actively with firearms and reflection damage, rather than sitting in a static wall role. His kit will:

  • Auto-reload when he shoots enemies tagged by Orbit Barrier or reflection damage.
  • Gain a much bigger taunt range on Expulsion.
  • Add enemy ATK reduction and ally DEF buffs to Hyper Cube.
  • Rework Barrier Charge into a forward dash that deals damage with the barrier.
  • Turn Mobile Fortress into a following barrier that stays usable while moving.

More minor numerical adjustments are coming to Freyna, Valby, and Viessa, with larger mechanical passes planned after higher-priority changes land. A smart cast option will arrive in January for placement skills like Viessa’s Blizzard and Valby’s Plop Plop, letting players drop them instantly instead of using a two-step target input.

Outside of combat, the game is also improving its economy and technical backbone:

  • Ancestors Module Trading starts on December 4, with a higher cap of 10,000 Caliber per transaction.
  • The Web Marketplace gets a statistics menu so players can see transaction volumes and average prices.
  • Party Finder will allow chat while queueing and a refreshed UI.
  • Extra attacks based on Additional Attack Damage/Chance will finally apply to melee Special Attacks.
  • FSR 4 support is being added for new Radeon RX 9000-series GPUs and above.

6. The First Descendant 2026 Roadmap Full Details

Looking past December, the livestream sketched out the first half of 2026 and beyond. Season 3’s remaining episodes will focus on tightening the core loop before Season 4.

6.1 Major Updates Coming in 2026

  • Breach Tracking Field (Episode 2, January), a gold-farming field that can drop extra rewards like Superconductive Cooling Units.
  • Onslaught Mode (Episode 3) is a new endgame activity where players fight increasingly stronger waves through multiple difficulty stages. A beta version will arrive first, with full launch targeted for May.
  • New Void Intercept Battles in Episode 4, built as multi-stage endgame content, while Void Abyss rotates monthly until then.
  • Two new Descendants, Dia in Episode 3 and Ultimate Esiemo in Episode 4, with more development effort shifted toward improving existing characters and weapons rather than flooding the roster with Ultimates.
  • System clean-ups for Mutant Cell Box Fragments, stat displays, and farming loops to lower the barrier to entry.
  • A Bounty Board that centralizes daily and weekly routines for Sigma Sector, Infiltration Operations, Invasions, and more.

Season 4, targeting summer 2026, is pitched as a climax: a final battle against Karel set in a “mega dungeon,” plus a full weapon system restructure that replaces the current Research, Readjustment, and Augmentation Core framework.

For Descendants already deep into Season 3, this roadmap suggests a year of more focused farming, more curated endgame, and a more straightforward path from new player to late-game raid regular.
