This new installment takes place five years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The production will start in fall, as Disney wants to release the film on 28th May 2027. It’s not just Ryan Gosling who has been announced with Star Wars: Starfighter, but a director has been named as well. Shawn Levy will be the director this time around.

According to Variety, Jonathan Tropper is the one who wrote the screenplay for the film. This isn’t the first time Tropper collaborates Levy. They previously worked together on This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project. Fans got a look at Ryan Gosling and Levy during the announcement of Star Wars: Starfighter. Gosling also had a few words to say.

“Being here and seeing all of you [makes it] more inspiring to do it. There’s so much creativity and imagination in this room and there’s so much love. It’s such a great reminder of how much movies can mean to us, specifically how much these movies mean to us. The force is a mysterious thing, but, as I’m here, the force is the fans. All we can hope for is, ‘May the fans be with us.’”
