The new game Split Fiction has managed to sell one million copies in just 48 hours. This is surely good news for the game’s studio Hazelight who has now set a new record for number of sales for one of their games. This record is different than that of It Takes Two which was released by the same studio. While Split Fiction sold one million copies quickly, It Takes Two needed one month after its launch to reach the million copies mark.
The news of this new record was announced by Hazelight themselves through BlueSky, X’s newest competitor, as they said:
“SPLIT FICTION sold 1 MILLION units in its first 48 hours!!!
The love you all show for our game is overwhelming!
Everyone here at Hazelight are beyond happy – and we can’t stop enjoying your amazing reactions!”–Hazelight
What Is Next After Split Fiction Selling One Million Copies
Now that Split Fiction reached one million copies, the future is bright for the co-op title. Since the game can’t be played solo, this achievement might mean that the game has been played by two million players. Since its launch on March 6, the game has been met with praise. Therefore, Split Fiction selling one million copies this quickly doesn’t come across as a surprise.
The game’s success doesn’t stop here. It has also managed to pass Monster Hunter Wilds in Steam’s Top Sellers Chart. Split Fiction is now in the second position. Hazelight are probably hoping that Split Fiction’s success will continue for a long time. Another game of theirs that found success is It Take Two which won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2021. Since its launch, the game sold 23 million copies.
We have previously named Split Fiction as one of 8 games you should look out for in March. Split Fiction is now available on:
- PC (through Steam and Epic Games Store)
- PS5
- Xbox Series S/X.
