The Sims rival and life simulator inZOI has received not one, but two major updates, both of them totally free. One is for the base game, adding new features and fixing several issues. The other is in the form of free DLC, titled Island Getaway. The DLC adds a brand-new world, Cahaya, plus lots more goodies such as new gameplay, Buy/Build objects, and character customization. Let’s look at what’s included in both updates and see what’s new.
inZOI is available in Early Access on Steam for PC and now Mac for $39.99. Island Getaway DLC has its own store page but is completely free to download with inZOI.

Island Getaway DLC Overview
When inZOI was first launched, it came with two different worlds: Bliss Bay and Dowan. With the Island Getaway DLC, a third world is added: Cahaya, a beautiful tropical island getaway complete with sparkling waters, sprawling beaches, luxurious resorts, and colorful coral reefs. However, while it can be fun in the sun, life in Cahaya isn’t without its share of hard work. Let’s take a deeper look at what’s new with the Island Getaway DLC, including a closer look at Cahaya.
New Cahaya Gameplay
Cahaya features the following activities:
- Boating – Rent a selection of 6 different boats to jet across the seas.
- Resorts – There are 3 resorts available in Cahaya: Garden Villa, Premier Ocean View Villa, and Private Water Villa. Relax at the sauna, enjoy a massage at the spa, and take part in activities such as lucky draws and turtle races.
- Temple – At Cahaya’s own temple, draw fortunes, make wishes, and interact with the cats.
- Snorkeling – Dive into the waters of Cahaya at the designated snorkeling spots, where exclusive collectibles can be found.
- Heavy Rain Natural Disaster – Experience the wild weather of heavy rain in Cahaya, where lightning strikes, and in which it can put a stop to cars driving around.
- Making Money – Earn a living on Cahaya by fishing, mining, and farming.
New Character Customization and Buy/Build Items
Give your Zois and their homes that Cahaya look with a bunch of new hair, clothes, and accessories, as well as new furniture, decorations, and construction items. There are also 4 pre-built homes available to place down Cahaya-style.

Base Game Update Overview
Now let’s look at the base game update for inZOI, which includes several gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and even new gameplay.
inZOI Now Available on Mac
When inZOI first launched, it was only available on PC. Now it’s become available on Mac devices as well.
If you bought inZOI on Steam for PC, you’ll get it on Mac for free. However, if you purchase inZOI via the Mac App Store, you’ll have to pay for the game. You will get the Island Getaway DLC included.
Zoi’s Emotion and Personality Improvements
The following has been updated regarding the Zoi’s emotions and personalities in the game:
- Zois now express emotions more naturally and interact more smoothly.
- Zois can now eat and play together.
- The emotion UI for Zois has been improved to make it clearer what emotion they are currently experiencing.
- Thought bubbles now appear about Zois’ heads to show what they are currently thinking during conversations.
- It should now be easier to start a conversation with Zois passing by.
- New romantic relationship statuses such as one-sided crush, love confession, obsession, and divorce.
Zois get a more realistic update in terms of how they behave, interact, and react with the world and others.
New Gameplay
Lots of new gameplay additions have been made to inZOI, now just for Cahaya, but applying to Bliss Bay and Dowan as well. They include:
- City Travel – You can now travel between cities! No longer are you stuck with the world you chose after creating your household. You can use the smartphone or computer and select “How to Travel to Another City“, or use the airport shuttle or seaplane.
- Swimming – Zois now have the ability to swim in pools and the ocean, complete with a new Swimming skill. Just watch out that your Zoi’s Energy level doesn’t get too low, or they may fall in danger of drowning.
- Snorkeling – Diving spots are also available in Bliss Bay and Dowan, where they can encounter marine life and find collectibles.
- Fishing – Fishing is now a new skill in inZOI. Zois can fish at rivers and the ocean, and upgrade their rods for the chance of catching rarer fish. Fish can be displayed in tanks.
- Farming – You can place farm lots from Build Mode to start farming. Zois can tend to crops and grow and harvest them for cooking or profit.
- Dust Storms and Heatwaves – Heavy Rain isn’t the only new Natural Disaster to hit inZOI. Zois may also have to deal with dust storms and heatwaves. Watch out as these natural events can cancel scheduled events, harm crops, or lead to unexpected outdoor accidents.
- Mining and Jewel Crafting – New skills include Handiwork and Collecting. Zois can collect raw gemstones and then cut them at crafting tables.
- Family Collection Log – Everything your household of Zois collect over time, such as fish, crops, gemstones, jewels, and more, will now be put into one Family Collection Log.
- Market Stand – Sell off your Zoi’s wares by setting up your own market stand.
- Resale Store – Here is where you can sell fish, crops, minerals, and more, or buy items.
- Loans – You can take loans out when you first purchase a new home. Just watch out for forced collections if you fail to pay up on time!
- Insurance – Zois can now invest in insurance for themselves, natural disasters, and their home.
- Budget – With this new smartphone app, you can keep track of your Zoi’s spending and income.
- New Vehicles – 14 vehicles have been added into inZOI, including motorbikes and scooters. Used cars are also available for purchase at reduced prices.
- City Updates – You can find new interactable facilities around the city such as swimming pools, gyms, movie theaters, and hospitals. Pre-existing areas have also been updated and improved.
- Cooking Updates – You’ll find 9 new recipes to cook in inZOI, some with harvested ingredients.
- Smartphone Updates – You can now Adopt a Child from the smartphone, not just the computer. Also, look out for the new City Travel, Loans, and Insurance apps.
Snorkeling is a new activity available in inZOI, alongside swimming.
Simulation Updates
There are plenty more updates to be found in inZOI, including the following:
- Food can be stored in the fridge with the “Store in Fridge” interaction. Stored food can also be taken out with the “Take Out” interaction.
- You can now select dining tables to be set for 1 person, 4 people, or events.
- With the Edit Public Property Info, you can change a property’s name, description, and assign up to 8 Zois.
- Objects can now get dirty and break over time. You can also clean objects such as bookcases and wardrobes, and rummage through trash.
- Time will automatically speed up by 30x when all household members are sleeping.
- Unpaid utility bills will result in a visit from the collector, as well as shut down stages such as water and electricity.
Control Updates
New control updates and improvements include:
- The intro video for inZOI can now be disabled via Options > Gameplay > Skip Intro by Default.
- Holding the Left Alt key slows down the game to 0.3x speed.
- Gamepad controller support for Steam. Partial support for most Xbox controllers.
- Player-chosen interactions are now prioritized.
New Character Customization and Buy/Build Items
inZOI‘s base game also includes a bunch of new items for the character creator and Buy/Build Mode. In the character creator, look out for 56 fresh new summer threads. For Buy/Build Mode, 104 new items have been added.
You can now also build swimming pools in inZOI.
Pools are a new feature of inZOI’s base game.
Animation and Audio Updates
New animations have been added to inZOI, as well as improved. You can also find 90+ new music tracks to listen to.
