Quite unexpectedly, Rockstar Games has released the second official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, sending shockwaves through the gaming community. Releasing on May 6, 2025, the trailer gives fans their first glimpse of what’s in store since the record-breaking first trailer aired over a year ago.
This new trailer dives deeper into the game’s setting, namely Leonida, Rockstar’s reimagined version of Florida, home to the iconic Vice City. The trailer centers on the story of two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, who find themselves on the outside of a prison, foreshadowing a dramatic and criminal journey reminiscent of a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde. Their dynamic seems to be at the heart of the game’s story, full of action, tension and emotional stakes.
- Lucia.
- Jason.
Visually, the trailer is simply stunning. Showcasing next-gen fidelity on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, environments are richly detailed and vibrant, with dense cityscapes, sun-drenched beaches, chaotic streets and neon-lit nightlife. Character models are incredibly realistic, with facial expressions and animations that push the limits of current technology.
Despite the visual spectacle, the trailer remains cinematic and story-focused, offering only fleeting glimpses of gameplay. Nevertheless, it’s more than enough to reignite hype and speculation, not least thanks to subtle clues about the size, atmosphere and tone of the world. It’s clear that Rockstar is adopting the same marketing approach used for Red Dead Redemption 2, allowing narrative and world-building to take center stage before gameplay revelations.
- A house, probably Jason and Lucia’s one.
- Get on a jet ski and have fun!
While the game was due to launch at the end of 2025, Rockstar has officially pushed its release back to May 26, 2026. While disappointing for impatient fans, this delay is a customary move on the part of the studio, known for prioritizing quality and finish over tight deadlines.
To date, Grand Theft Auto VI has been confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S. PC gamers remain in the dark, with no mention of a release window. As speculation spreads on social networks and fans comb every image for hidden details, one thing is certain: Grand Theft Auto VI is shaping up to be Rockstar’s most ambitious project to date, and the wait may well be worth it.
- Jason working out on the beach, maybe the return of that feature?
- Jason and Lucia, our new Bonnie and Clyde.
- A new character who doesn’t look like he loves Jason.
- Some conflicts in the air.
