Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.02.00 for Crimson Desert on April 4, 2026, now live on Steam (PC and Mac) and Epic Games Store, with PlayStation already updated and Xbox still in progress. This patch introduces a major private storage expansion, a long-requested Headgear Visibility toggle, and a new movement control option for players who preferred how sprinting worked before the previous patch’s changes.
1. Private Storage Expanded Up to 1000 Slots
One of the biggest additions in this patch is a meaningful increase in how much players can store at camp. The private storage system now scales directly with how far players have developed the Greymane Camp, giving progression a more practical payoff beyond just camp aesthetics.
The expansion follows five stages in total, starting from the existing 240-slot baseline:
- Start: 240 slots
- First expansion: +100 slots
- Second expansion: +100 slots
- Third expansion: +100 slots
- Fourth expansion: +100 slots
- Final expansion: +360 slots
At full camp development, players will have access to 1000 storage slots, a substantial increase over the original cap that should significantly ease inventory pressure in the later game.
2. Movement Controls Option Added
Following the sprint overhaul introduced in Patch 1.01.00, some players found the new Basic controls less intuitive than the previous system. Pearl Abyss has responded by adding a dedicated Movement Controls setting, accessible via Main Menu > Others > Settings > Input.
Basic vs Classic Controls
Two options are now available:
- Basic: Hold the sprint key to accelerate. Stamina on mounts is consumed at set intervals while holding.
- Classic: Repeatedly press the sprint key to accelerate. Mount stamina is consumed each time the sprint key is pressed.
Players who felt the 1.01.00 movement changes disrupted their flow can switch back to Classic and retain the feel they are used to. Both options have stamina implications on mounts, so it is worth reading the in-game descriptions before committing.
Additional Control Improvements
Beyond the movement toggle, several other control issues have been resolved:
- Flight can now be activated by holding the jump key in mid-air, making aerial traversal more responsive
- Jump inputs after attacks now register more reliably
- Fixed parry failing to activate during Focus with a two-handed sword equipped
- Fixed the camera snapping toward enemies when aiming with a tool
- Fixed the Double Boost horse ability not triggering properly
- Fixed an exploit where repeatedly tapping sprint let horses reach max speed regardless of stats
- Abyss Nexus can now be used while moving slightly, except when mounted or using Flight
3. Headgear Visibility and Graphics Options
A highly requested cosmetic toggle has finally arrived. The new Headgear Visibility setting, found under Settings > Language & Gameplay, gives players direct control over when their helmet appears on screen. Four options are available:
- Always Show
- Show in Combat
- Hide in Cutscenes
- Always Hide
Pearl Abyss also confirmed that a similar option to hide weapons shown on the character’s back is planned for a future patch. On the graphics side, FSR upscaling quality has been improved across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
PC players additionally benefit from FSR SDK 2.2, improved Frame Generation quality, and fixes for GPU memory issues related to DLSS RR.
On PlayStation 5 Pro, the Upgraded PSSR Sharpen feature and Native AA in Quality Mode have been applied for sharper output. The Xbox Series X gains a new 4K upscaling option in Performance Mode.
4. Quest, NPC, and UI Fixes
This patch resolves several quest blockers that could prevent progression in later chapters, along with a round of interface improvements that refine day-to-day usability.
Quest Blockers Fixed
- Fixed a Chapter 6 progression block after defeating a boss following a save/load
- Fixed the ‘A Rumor Fueled by Greed’ quest becoming unavailable if a related item was sold before starting it
- Fixed Chapter 11’s Inserted Key disappearing from the bag, which locked related quest progress
UI and Storage Improvements
- Save and Load menus are now separated, with save slot numbers labeled for clarity
- Shop UI now prioritizes sellable items at the top
- Fixed the minimap scale resetting while riding a mount at full speed
- Fixed the mouse cursor disappearing in the storage menu on keyboard/mouse
- The item use notification in the bottom-right corner now selects the item directly when pressed
- An Abyss Nexus has been added in Pailune, further expanding fast travel coverage
