Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.00.03 for Crimson Desert, rolling out on PlayStation on March 23, 2026, with Xbox, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store updates to follow. A same-day PlayStation hotfix (1.00.04) also landed to fix a character-switching issue with Kliff. Together, these two patches address some of the most common frustrations players have flagged since launch.
1. Major Gameplay Improvements
This patch covers a wide range of quality-of-life changes that affect how players explore, gather, and recover throughout Pywel. From expanded storage options to faster resource collection, the adjustments here should make the early-to-mid game feel noticeably smoother.
Storage, Healing, and Gathering
- Private Storage added at the initial lodgings in Hernand and at Howling Hill Camp
- Health restored by food and ingredients has increased across the board
- New food items added to the Hernand Tavern
- Ore veins and collectibles now auto-detect when within proximity (8m for Regular Ores, 2m for Tools)
- Trees now chop with basic swings, no aiming required
- Bismuth ore can now be mined with a regular pickaxe instead of Lightning attacks
- Petrification is applied automatically when approaching bismuth ore
Fast Travel and Knowledge Progression
Abyss Nexuses have been added across the continent to expand fast travel options. Knowledge acquisition time has been reduced, and skill observation now only needs to be completed once before the skill becomes permanently available. Force Palm has also been moved earlier in the progression, so players can access it much sooner.
2. Controls and UI Overhaul
Pearl Abyss addressed several control responsiveness issues that players raised across both gamepad and keyboard/mouse setups. The studio confirmed that these are not the final control changes and that further improvements are still in progress.
New Keyboard and Mouse Shortcuts
Several dedicated shortcuts have been added for faster menu navigation:
- Inventory: [I]
- Skills: [K]
- Journal: [J]
- Map: [M]
Default bindings for Guard/Aim (Side Button 1) and Evade (Side Button 2) are now in place. Movement input is maintained when using Axiom Force, and bugs involving duplicate key assignments have been resolved.
General Control and UI Fixes
- Improved interaction UI response speed
- Faster jump input responsiveness
- Fixed aiming to center on the screen when using a Lantern or while unarmed
- Re-selecting equipped gear now stows it via the Equipment Quick Slot
- Fixed an intermittent issue where the Main Menu would not open
3. Boss Fights and Combat Adjustments
Several combat systems have been retuned to reduce early difficulty spikes. Players who found boss encounters particularly punishing will notice a clear difference, especially around stamina management and parry rewards.
Enemy and Boss Tuning
- Reduced Health and Attack on specific enemies and bosses
- Reduced Stamina consumption for blocking
- Lowered the difficulty of ambush encounters before the Reed Devil boss stage
- Adjusted attack patterns for Kearush the Slayer
- Successful parries now build the boss’s stun gauge faster
- Boss weakness effects now display without requiring prior knowledge acquisition
- Fixed fire arrows failing to ignite enemies on hit
4. Bug Fixes and Stability
This patch addresses a broad range of issues across quests, visuals, and platform performance. Several fixes address crashes and display issues that have affected players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox since launch.
Notable Quest and NPC Fixes
- Fixed the cat in Chapter 2, “Reunion,” stopping mid-escort
- Fixed “Turnali’s Request” not completing after re-refining a previously refined Bekker Shield
- Fixed NPCs catching each other cheating in the Duo minigame
- Restorative items sold by Carl at Howling Hill Camp reduced from 10 Silver to 1 Silver
- Fixed several missing English audio lines
PlayStation Hotfix 1.00.04
Later the same day, Pearl Abyss pushed a PlayStation-exclusive hotfix under Patch 1.00.04. The fix resolves an issue where switching to Kliff from another character would prevent certain interactions and actions from working correctly. No other platforms received this specific patch.
