Winter Burrow is a cozy survival game developed by Pine Creek Games and published by Noodlecake Studios that released on November 12th for PC, Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch to mostly positive reviews. The game merges two different types of gameplay; cozy crafting mechanics where you gather resources and craft items such as knitted clothes and cooking food, but also survival mechanics where you must endure the harsh winter conditions and deal with danger while avoiding freezing and starving.
While Winter Burrow has been warmly received by players, they have also raised a few points for improvements. One notable complaint is the absence of an in-game map. Currently, you have to rely on yourself to remember where your home base and other key locations are to avoid getting hopelessly lost.
However, this may all be set to change as the developers have announced that they plan to implement changes and improvements based on player feedback to address these issues. While no official release date for this future update has been announced yet, they have confirmed they are currently working on these additions.
New In-Game Map
The first and possibly biggest add-on is a new in-game map in Winter Burrow. This map can be opened up and take up the whole screen for easy viewing. You’ll be able to see which areas you have unlocked so far, and which area you are currently located in.
However, at this time, the map won’t accurately pinpoint your exact location, to retain the sense of discovery and surprise. However, with the inclusion of the new map, this should mean easier navigation in the game.
Storage Improvements
Another gameplay issue raised by players in Winter Burrow regards storage for keeping items. Players have requested being able to organize storage, and storage being separated into different storage units crafted by the player.
The developers have noted that implementing these changes means restructuring how storage works in Winter Burrow, but they have reassured us that it is something they’re looking into and will hopefully put into a future update.

Storage management is important for having lots of different items, so having an efficient system is key.
Remapping Keys Option and Better Controls
The developers of Winter Burrow have also acknowledged the desire to remap key commands, allowing players to customize the controls to their preferences.
Additionally, the developers are looking into improving the keyboard and mouse support to make for smoother and more enjoyable gameplay.
Bug Fixes
The Winter Burrow team are also aware of bugs that have made their presence known in the game. They have reported that they are keeping track of bugs and are looking to fix them in a future update.
Players should note that if they encounter any bugs in Winter Burrow, they should report it so the developers can be made aware of it and add it to their list of fixes.
This doesn’t just apply to bug fixes either, but also desires for gameplay additions and improvements, such as the above mentioned map, storage improvements, and control customization.
An Extra Surprise
As an added bonus, Winter Burrow is set to get a secret surprise added into the game soon. We have no idea what it is, but it should arrive before the shortest day of the year (December 21). Also, this could be when the first big update lands in the game, so stay tuned.
A Special Thanks From the Winter Burrow Team
Lastly, the team behind Winter Burrow wished to thank everyone for their support behind the game, including posts, comments, reviews, and suggestions for improvements made by the players.
