Sects in Where Winds Meet are factions or guild-like societies that you can join. Each one has its own philosophy, weekly tasks, and a credit system that tracks how well you follow their code. You can earn points when you do things your sect likes and then lose them when you break their rules. More points mean higher status, more perks, and special rewards like exclusive outfits, weapon buffs, or reputation titles. You can quit a sect, but there is always a price to pay.
All Sects in Where Winds Meet
Each Sect offers different benefits and specializes in a different Martial Art, which you can unlock by joining their ranks. If you leave, all your points and titles will be lost. How To Join a Sect in Where Winds Meet
Joining a Sect isn’t something you do instantly—you need to explore Jianghu, complete tasks, and track down clues that lead you to each society. Here’s exactly how to get in:
- Head to the main game menu and look for the Sects tab. This is where all your progress and options are listed.
- Once inside, check the bottom-right corner for the button that moves you to the Join Sect page.
- Scroll through the available Sects and pick the one you’re aiming for. Each has its own playstyle, theme, and unique abilities.
- Look again at the lower-right corner and hit the Enter Clue button. This gives you a hint pointing toward the clue you must find in the world.
- Head out into Jianghu and track down the clue using the direction provided. Treat it like a mini exploration quest.
- Once you find the clue, a quest will trigger. Finish it and you’ll be accepted as an official member of that Sect.
Choosing to be Sectless
You can absolutely stay Sectless in Where Winds Meet if none of the Sects appeal to you. Going Sectless keeps things simple—you won’t follow any rules, deal with restrictions, or take any penalties for not joining a group.
Here’s what to expect:
- You’ll miss out on sect-exclusive items: Weapons, outfits, and special rewards tied to specific Sects won’t be available to you.
- You can get a Sectless-themed outfit: Head to the Sect Shop and use your Reputation points to buy the Sectless outfit. It’s one of the few exclusives you still get access to.
- Earn Reputation by doing Sect Commands: Open the Sects menu → Jianghu Errand section. Complete the Sect Commands listed there to build Reputation as a Sectless player.
- Ranking up still unlocks rewards: Even without joining a Sect, increasing your rank through these tasks unlocks additional items in the Sect Shop.
How To Leave a Sect
If you ever feel like switching paths or trying a different playstyle, you can leave your current Sect at any time using the Betray Master option. Here’s exactly how to do it:
- Pause the game, open the main menu, and head into the Sect tab with your active character.
- Look at the bottom-right corner of the Sect screen and hit the Betray Master button to start the process.
- A confirmation window will pop up. Choose Confirm to officially begin leaving the Sect.
- You’ll be required to go through a Severance Trial as part of breaking ties with your master.
- Participate in a match of Perception Forest to fulfill the trial requirement.
- Your master gives you a final task as recompense—complete it to finalize the separation.
- Once the trial is done, you’re free to join any other Sect except the one you just left.
If you want to skip waiting, you can also join another Sect before the Perception Forest match—the trial period ends once you complete it. Some sects, like Nine Mortal Ways, don’t require a Severance Trial to leave, but you will get a coin penalty.
Leaving Nine Mortal Ways
In order to leave the Nine Mortal Ways sect, you will get an objective to locate Ni Laoshan rather than undergoing a Severance Trial.
- Pay 50,000 coins in exchange for leaving the sect.
- A life threat will be given to you by Ni Laoshan if you refuse to pay him.
- You can’t leave the sect unless you pay him.
Leaving a Sect in Where Winds Meet comes with important consequences:
- Rank Reduction: Your standing within the Sect will decrease.
- Shop Access Lost: You may no longer be able to access the Sect shop and its exclusive items.
- Decision Weight: Make your choice carefully, as it can impact rewards, progression, and relationships with Sect NPCs.
Tip: Consider completing any ongoing Sect quests or claiming rewards before leaving to minimize losses.
