Blind to the World is one of Qinghe’s Jianghu Legacy side stories in Where Winds Meet, set around Moonveil Mountain. On paper, it is a simple favor for Uncle Tian and the Evercare Clinic, but in practice, you are draining a lake, feeling your way through dark caves, and solving puzzles that literally ask you to trust sound over sight. There is almost no combat here. Instead, the quest leans into atmosphere and quiet tragedy around the so-called Lunar Goddess, Li Zhenzhen, and what she left behind under the mountain.
You want to do this quest for one main reason: Blinding Mist, a Mystic Art that drops at the end. It creates a poisonous fog that blocks vision, damages regular enemies, and leaves them open to Touch of Death takedowns, which makes it one of the best crowd control tools you can get early on in Where Winds Meet. You also walk away with a big pile of Echo Jade, materials, and Qinghe Exploration points, so Blind to the World is an excellent early side stop if you are already working through Echoes of Old Battles and the rest of the Moonveil chain.
This Where Winds Meet guide covers how to start Blind to the World Side Story, how to solve the lake drainage and Blind Goddess statue puzzle, how to navigate the underwater passage, how to clear the bell puzzle at the stone gate, and what to actually offer the Lunar Goddess so you can claim Blinding Mist.
1. How to Start Blind to the World Side Story
Blind to the World is listed as Jianghu Legacy Volume IV for Qinghe, also known as Blinded by Mortalbound in some menus. You can tackle it as soon as you explore Moonveil Mountain.
Unlock steps:
- Go to Moonveil Mountain in Qinghe: Head to the eastern part of Qinghe and look for the Moonveil Mountain region. There is a deep lake tucked into the cliffs here, sometimes marked near Crimson Cliff, depending on your map.
- Find Uncle Tian by the lakeshore: Near the lake, you will see Uncle Tian (sometimes listed as Unfated Tian) standing by the water. Talk to him to hear about a hidden shrine under the lake and a client he calls the Lunar Goddess. This conversation starts Blind to the World and marks the lake for you.
- Track the Jianghu Legacy: For more straightforward navigation, open the Exploration / Jianghu Legacy menu and track Blind to the World so the quest markers appear clearly on your map.
Once the quest is active, your first task is to drain the lake and reveal the statue at the bottom.
2. How to Drain the Lake and Solve the Blind Goddess Statue Puzzle
2.1 Step 1: Open the Drainage
After talking to Uncle Tian, jump into the lake.
- Dive to the bottom: Swim straight down and use Wind Sense if you need help spotting interactable objects. Look for a large stone plate on the lakebed with three chains running out from it.
- Follow each chain: Each chain leads to a drainage mechanism on the edge of the lake. Follow one chain at a time until you find a lever or contraption, which is usually near a chest.
- Flip all three mechanisms: Interact with each mechanism to open the conduits. Between each one, surface for air if needed, so you do not drown. When all three are active, a cutscene shows the lake draining and the bottom turning into a muddy basin.
Once the water is gone, Uncle Tian joins you down below, and the real puzzle begins.
2.2 Step 2: Blind Goddess Statue Puzzle Solution (North – East – South – West)
At the bottom of the drained lake is a large statue of a blindfolded woman with pressure plates around it.
Here is how the puzzle works and how to solve it:
- Trigger the puzzle: Step on the large central disc near the statue to activate the mechanism. This causes four smaller stone plates around the statue to light up.
- Understand the clue: Uncle Tian’s riddle and nearby notes talk about directions around the statue. The solution is tied to the four cardinal directions: north, east, south, and west.
- Orient yourself: Open your map or compass to find north. You can also use the environment, but the compass is the safest method.
- Step on the plates in the following order: North, East, South, West.
Practically, do it like this:
- Step on the plate behind the statue first (usually the north one).
- From there, walk around the statue in a clockwise circle and step on each lit plate once.
If you step on a plate out of order, you will trigger the trap and need to reset by stepping off and letting the plates dim again. Once you hit all four in the correct order, a short sound plays and a hidden entrance opens nearby, leading deeper under Moonveil Mountain.
3. Explore the Passage and Cross the Broken Bridge
Go through the newly opened door and follow Uncle Tian.
3.1 Corridor with Ribbons and Traps
You enter a narrow corridor filled with hanging cloth strips or ribbon-like decorations.
- Many of these are rigged as arrow or fire traps.
- You can either weave between them carefully or shoot them with Fire Arrows to burn them away and make the path safe.
Take your time. Getting clipped repeatedly here is just wasted healing.
3.2 Reaching the Broken Bridge and the Underwater Route
At the end of the corridor is a cavern with a collapsed stone bridge.
- Loot nearby chests: There is usually a chest off to the side on the stairs, which you can grab before pushing on.
- Find the real path: Instead of trying to jump the broken bridge, hug the cave wall and look for a side passage that slopes down into a flooded tunnel. This is the intended route forward.
- Swim through the waterway: Dive into the water and follow the tunnel. Here you will see clusters of blue or Moonlit Flowers. Touching them temporarily blinds your screen, but they also highlight currents or air paths that guide you toward the exit.
- Use light beams for air: Look for rays of light shining down from the surface. These indicate spots where you can resurface for air. The first is near the entrance, and another sits deeper in the cavern near the bottom.
Keep following the objective marker and the flow of the tunnel until you eventually emerge in a new section of the cave, facing a sealed stone gate with four bells above it.
4. How to Solve the Bell Puzzle and Open the Stone Gate
This is the second central puzzle in Blind to the World, and it trips up a lot of players.
4.1 Find the Contraption
From the stone gate:
- Turn around and climb the stairs leading up behind you.
- At the top is a pedestal contraption that you can interact with.
- Facing forward, you can see the row of four large bells mounted above the gate, each with a target or slab above it.
Interacting with the pedestal causes the bells to ring in a sequence, and glowing symbols appear above them.
4.2 Use the Moonlit Flowers to See the Real Order
If you copy what you see on the screen, the door often won’t unlock. That is because Blind to the World wants you to rely on the gimmick of being blind.
- Nearby, you will find more blue Moonlit Flowers.
- Touch one to darken your screen temporarily.
- With your vision reduced, activate the contraption again and listen carefully to the bell order.
If you do not feel like experimenting, you can skip straight to the solution below.
4.3 Bell Puzzle Solution (3 – 4 – 1 – 2)
Whether you figure it out yourself or not, the bell puzzle solution seems to be fixed for everyone.
- Number the bells from left to right as 1, 2, 3, 4.
- Stand at a distance where you can see all four targets above them.
- Pull out your bow and shoot the slabs above the bells in this order:
3rd bell – 4th bell – 1st bell – 2nd bell
Make sure you are hitting the plates above the bells, not the bells themselves. Doing it correctly triggers the mechanism and unlocks the stone gate so you can finally enter the Lunar Goddess’s inner chamber.
5. Meet the Lunar Goddess and Find Her Offering
Go back down the stairs and push through the open stone gate. Ahead is a vast cavern with a still lake and an altar on a raised ledge.
5.1 Speak With Uncle Tian and Take the Eye Box
- Approach the woman seated on the high platform. Uncle Tian calls her the Lunar Goddess, though her real name is Li Zhenzhen.
- After the cutscene, examine the box on the nearby table. Different guides call this the Frost-Laced Box or Ice Jade Box, but functionally, it is the container for her eyes.
- Pick it up, then talk to Uncle Tian again so he can examine it. He quickly realizes simply restoring her eyes is not the real solution.
The quest log now pushes you to “find what the Lunar Goddess really wants.”
5.2 Go Down To Her Dwelling
Behind the altar is a staircase that leads down into Li Zhenzhen’s old living quarters.
As you explore the lower level, look out for:
- Small Blade
- Found on a table in the dwelling.
- Represents the pain, sacrifice, or unfinished business tied to her past.
- Moonlit Flower
- A single glowing blue flower growing not far from the table.
- It is the same kind of flower that blinds you in the cave, but here it is clearly set up as a special item.
Along the way, you can loot several chests and optional letters. Some versions of the quest let you combine all the letters into a book that fleshes out Li Zhenzhen’s story, but this is strictly bonus lore and not required for completion.
Once you have both the Small Blade and the Moonlit Flower, return to the Lunar Goddess upstairs.
5.3 What to Offer the Lunar Goddess
When you interact with the Lunar Goddess again, the game lets you present items as an offering to settle her old vow.
In practice, if you want to follow the most widely repeated solution:
- Talk to the Lunar Goddess.
- Select the option to offer the Moonlit Flower.
- Watch the final cutscene that plays out as Uncle Tian and Li Zhenzhen’s story reaches its conclusion.
After the scene, the quest flag switches to completed, and your objectives update to leaving the dwelling and exiting the cave.
6. How to Leave the Goddess’s Dwelling
You are not done until you actually get back outside.
- Go back down the stairs to Li Zhenzhen’s lower quarters.
- This time, look for a narrow opening in the wall behind a clothes rack or similar structure.
- Squeeze through the gap to reach a small underground dock with a raft
- Interact with the raft to ride out of the cavern and return to the surface.
Once you emerge back in Qinghe, Blind to the World Side Story will be fully completed, and all rewards will be granted to you.
Clearing Blind to the World gives you one of the strongest support Mystic Arts in the early game, plus a sizable chunk of progression resources. Exact numbers are consistent across multiple guides.
