Where Winds Meet – All Wandering Tales and How To Complete Them

Wandering Tales in Where Winds Meet are the exploration quests that require you to find clues to unveil the whole truth. These are specifically tied to the scenarios and NPCs in the Jianghu. Make sure to start them once you check them out in the journal and read the clues and hints. Completing the Wandering Tales grants the Echo jade, Character EXP, Qinghe Exploration, and Coin.

These stories are designed to feel like you’re uncovering rumors or personal dramas within the Jianghu. You can finish the entire main story without doing them, but you’ll miss a lot of character-driven content.

1. True or False: Young Master (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Scammer Copying your Appearance

Speak with the Wayfarer of Moonveil Mountain to unlock this quest in Where Winds Meet. Once unlocked, choose the quest under Wandering Tales in your journal.

1. First Encounter: Heaven’s Pier

Harvestfall Village location

1. Travel north of Heaven’s Pier to confront the scammer who is copying your appearance.
2. Speak with the scammer to initiate the Gift of Gab duel. The scammer will mimic your appearance.
3. Gift of Gab Mechanics:
   • Pick cards to attack your opponent. This will damage the opponent’s bar at the top of the screen.
   • Inspirations in the upper-left corner of the cards will be consumed when used.
   • Enemies will attack you, dealing damage. Rebut their attacks to deal heavy damage.
4. Win the duel to trigger a cutscene where the scammer flees.
5. Combat Phase: Defeat the scammer’s goons who appear after the cutscene. Reward: Echo Jade x4 for exposing the scammer.
6. Proceed to Harvestfall Village and locate Celestial Ferry Crossing Shao Dongjia to complete the first stage and receive Premium Parting Tears.

2. Second Encounter: Harvestfall Village

1. Locate the scammer again at Harvestfall Village, standing in front of merchant Hao Jiu.
2. Speak with him; he will run away, completing the Wandering Tale.
3. Prerequisite: The second encounter is only available after defeating him in the Rhetoric Duel during the first encounter.

2. A Foolproof Plan (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Sha Shu’er NPC

Speak with the Wayfarer of Moonveil Mountain to unlock A Foolproof Plan. Open your journal and select it under the Exploration tab after unlocking the area map.

1. Meet Shu Shu’er

1. Travel to the north of Heaven’s Pier, in the center of the region, to locate Shu Shu’er.
2. Approach him and listen to his request. He asks for Parting Tears in exchange for a treasure map.

You can obtain Parting Tears from several nearby locations:

• Winery: Large jar on the left side of the storage area.
• Yuan Tiantian Bounty Board: Just beside the Annals of Geography.
• Yuan Tiantian’s Food Stall: On the table.

• North of Heaven’s Pier: In a box beside the wine jars near the docks.

Once collected, return to Shu Shu’er and give him the jar. He will reward you with Killerblade instead of a treasure map.

3. Rescue Shu Shu’er

Parting Tear

1. After drinking the Parting Tears, Shu Shu’er will leave for Blissful Retreat.
2. On your way, you will find him being attacked by masked soldiers near the bridge.
3. Speak to the soldiers to resolve the encounter. Saving Shu Shu’er completes the tale and the quest.

3. A Toast to Heroes (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Grandpa Zhou

Speak with the Wayfarer of Verdant Wilds to unlock A Toast to Heroes. You can initiate this Wandering Tale from the Attlecrest Slope mini-region within the Verdant Wilds.

1. Meet Grandpa Zhou

A Toast to Heroes Location

1. Locate Grandpa Zhou at the tea stall. He is an old man weeping because he has lost his bag.
2. Speak with him to begin the quest.

2. Retrieve Grandpa Zhou’s Bag

1. Head to the hill to the right of Grandpa Zhou, where a broken pot is visible.
2. Watch out for the cluster of snakes in the grass.
3. Use Wind Sense to help locate Grandpa Zhou’s bag amidst the snakes.

4. Return to Grandpa Zhou and give him the Soaked Bundle.

Tip: Use Celestial Seize to safely collect the bag.

3. Eliminate Bandits and Collect Sacrificial Wine

Sacrificial Wine Location

1. Grandpa Zhou will ask you to eliminate bandits at a nearby camp.
2. You must acquire two jars of Sacrificial Wine to complete the task:
   • Northern Jar: North of the Northern Vow Ruins.
   • Southern Jar: South of the Northern Vow Ruins.
3. Look for the wine on carts inside the bandit camps.

4. Deliver Sacrificial Wine

1. Take the Sacrificial Wine to Grandpa Zhou at the Northern Vow Ruins Boundary Stone.

2. Completing this step finishes the Wandering Tale.

4. Abyss of Desire (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Mu Bai NPC

Travel to the Heavenly Pier in the Moonveil area to initiate the Abyss of Desire Wandering Tale. Progress your journey through General’s Shrine, following the dirt road toward the bar and then deeper down to the pier.

1. Meet Mu Bai

1. At the pier, you will find Mu Bai on the left.
2. Speak with him to start the Wandering Tale about the mysterious men.

2. Provide Parting Tears

Premium Parting Tear

The main objective of this tale is to collect three different jars of Parting Tears and give them to Mu Bai.

Small Jar of Parting Tears

1. Objective: Obtain a small jar of Parting Tears.
2. Location: On a small table at a stall along the path to Mu Bai behind the tavern.
3. Instructions: Approach the table carefully, as it may be near NPCs or minor environmental obstacles. Interact with the jar to collect it.

4. Return to Mu Bai and give him the small jar. This starts unlocking additional dialogue.

Premium Parting Tears

1. Objective: Collect Premium Parting Tears to continue the quest.
2. Location: Tiantian’s stall, near the town’s marketplace or food area.
3. Instructions: Look carefully for a jar marked differently from the small jar. Pick it up and return to Mu Bai.

4. Giving him the Premium Parting Tears will prompt Mu Bai to reveal more secrets about the mysterious men and lead to the final request.

Large Jar of Parting Tears

1. Objective: Deliver the Large Jar of Parting Tears for the final part of the quest.
2. Location: Brewery under the shed. Navigate inside the brewery carefully; the shed may have crates or barrels that slightly obscure the jar.

3. Instructions: Interact with the jar to collect it. Return it to Mu Bai to unlock the final dialogue.

3. Quest Completion

After giving Mu Bai all three jars of Parting Tears, he will share the ending information, completing the Wandering Tale.

5. Meow Meow Temple (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Fortune Teller

Speak with the fortune teller Fu Lubao, located beside the General’s Shrine in Where Winds Meet. Fu Lubao will introduce the quest and hint at treasures hidden within the Meow Meow Temple.

1. Enter the Cave

1. Travel to the cave leading to the General’s Shrine, which serves as the entrance to the Meow Meow puzzle.
2. Prepare for minor environmental obstacles inside the cave.

3. Return to Fu Lubao

1. Take the Bell back to Fu Lubao.

2. Interact with him to complete the exchange.

4. Visit Meow Meow Temple

1. Fu Lubao will instruct you to visit the Meow Meow Temple to claim treasures.
2. Explore the temple area; completing the visit will finalize the quest.
3. The quest concludes once Fu Lubao drifts away, signifying the end of the Wandering Tale.

6. The Dogs Know First (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

This Wandering Tale starts at Heavenly Pier village and involves interactions in two different villages. Players begin the quest by exploring the pier area.

1. Find the Meaty Bone

1. Travel to Heavenly Pier.
2. Locate the meaty bone item near the wooden pier.
3. The bone is found close to shipping items in the tavern area.

2. Locate the Dog

1. Head north to find a dog barking at someone.

2. You need a meaty bone to interact with the dog and make it happy.

3. Obtain the Bone

1. Move past the dog and follow the path to the left side.
2. Look for a bounty poster on your right and walk past it.
3. Find a man sitting on the floor.
4. Pick up the bone from the floor just before reaching him.

4. Feed the Dog

1. Return to the barking dog.
2. Give the dog the meaty bone.
3. The dog will stop barking, and the man will leave.

4. While leaving, the man drops a token.

5. Deliver the Token

Wayfarer

Speak with the Wayfarer of Moonveil Mountain to unlock the Missing Funds Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet.

1. Speak with Jia Fu

1. Travel to the West Heaven’s Pier Boundary Stone.
2. Locate Jia Fu, the merchant, and speak with him.

3. Jia Fu will explain that thieves have stolen his bundle and ask you to retrieve it.

2. Use the Celestial Seize Mystic skill to safely acquire Jia Fu’s bundle.

3. Once obtained, return the bundle to Jia Fu.

4. Quest Completion and Reward

1. Give Jia Fu’s bundle back to the merchant.
2. Jia Fu will reward you with the Dragon Crest Token: Wind.

This Wandering Tale begins by speaking with the Strange Guest at Blissful Retreat. You will need the Dragon Crest Token: Wind obtained from the Missing Funds Wandering Tale.

2. If you have not, complete Missing Funds first to get the token.

1. Return to the Strange Guest at the dock in Blissful Retreat.

1. Locate the ladderless tower south of Rongrong’s location, near the lake.
2. Use the wagon to reach the ledge and climb to the top of the tower.
3. Pick up the Proof Tag to complete the third trial.

4. Return to Rongrong

1. Go back to Rongrong at the shrine.

2. Give her all three collected Tags to complete the Wandering Tale.

10. Sips Of Serenity (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Merchant Liu

Travel to the Riverside Station fast travel point in the southwest of the map. Head north to find a shop where two men are sitting at a table. Speak with Merchant Liu to begin the Wandering Tale.

1. Understand the Problem

1. Merchant Liu explains that shop owners keep increasing the prices of tea.

2. He asks you to find grounds for haggling to convince the shop owner to lower prices.

2. Collect Grounds for Haggling

Spoiled Mik Curd

1. Interact with the Rickety Stool near the merchant’s table.
2. Go to the left of the shop to find a white fabric called Tattered Cloak and interact with it.
3. Move to the stand in the shop and pick up the Spoiled Milk Curd.

3. Confront the Shop Owner

1. Approach Zhang, the shop owner.
2. Select the items you collected to initiate the haggling.
3. Start with Spoiled Milk Curd and the Rickety Stool. Use the Tattered Cloak as the main item to persuade him to stop increasing the tea prices.
4. Successfully convincing the shop owner completes the Sips of Serenity Wandering Tale.

11. Child’s Play (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Yan Ming NPC

Travel to Harvestfall Village in the west of the Qinghe region (north of the map) to initiate Child’s Play.

1. Speak with Yan Ming

1. Go south after entering the village.
2. Approach the kids along the way and speak with Yan Ming.
3. She explains that her doll is missing and accuses another child.

2. Retrieve the Puppet

1. Head to the stage where the puppet booth is located.
2. Look on one of the benches on the right side to find the item.
3. Approach it and discover that it is an actual puppet.

4. Pick up the puppet.

3. Return the Puppet

1. Give the puppet to Yan Ming.
2. Select the option to give her the Shadow Puppet.

3. The kids will start a conversation, completing the Child’s Play Wandering Tale.

12. The Long Road Home (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Crazy Beggar

Travel to Harvestfall Village in the west of the Qinghe region to begin The Long Road Home.

1. Speak with the Crazy Beggar

1. Locate the Crazy Beggar standing on one leg in the village.
2. Approach him and speak with him.

3. He explains that someone has been making strange posters and that he wants to go back home.

2. Acquire the Weapon

1. The Crazy Beggar requests his gun, but no gun exists in the game. You need to find a spear instead.
2. Head west from the beggar’s location and continue until you reach a memorial under a big tree.

Open the door to the Granary to unlock the Eternal Flame Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet. Interacting with the door prompts you to locate the key.

Bring the letter from the table in Aunt Han’s Room at Blissful Retreat to unlock the Mysterious Letter Wandering Tale. You can also complete this after Chapter 1 by finding Yi Dao’s sword and finishing Worldly Affair, which unlocks Dreamscape Blissful Retreat.

1. Receive the Task

Listen to Yan Hui as she explains that you need to find a God Statue.

3. Return the Statue

Bring the God of Fortune Statue back to Yan Hui. Giving it to her completes The God of Wealth Returns Wandering Tale.

17. The Stolen First-Jar Wine (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Pei Niang NPC

Find Pei Niang and speak with him to unlock The Stolen First-Jar Wine Wandering Tale. You can locate this NPC in the central part of Blissful Retreat. Make your way to the tree on the left of the building where Pei Niang is to find the first clue.

Hiding to Eavesdrop

Eavesdrop on Yan Qiqiao and Yan Dazhi in their house to unlock the Breaking from Tradition Wandering Tale in Where Winds Meet. The Memorial Tablet from Yan Dazhi’s family is missing.

Speak with Xiao the Healer near the edge of the cliff, north of Crimson Cliff, to initiate the quest. You need to locate all three of Xiao the Healer’s vials to fully cure his laughter.

2. Find the Second Vial

1. Go to the northeast of Crimson Cliff, near where you first see Xiao the Healer.

3. Find the Third Vial

1. Travel near a bear and a breakable wall on the west side of Crimson Cliff, near the border with Peace Tower Bell.
2. Defeat the bear to obtain the third vial.

4. Return All Vials

1. Bring all three vials back to Xiao the Healer.
2. Giving him the vials completes A Cure for Hollow Joy Wandering Tale.

20. Encircling Lake’s Treasure (Step-by-Step Walkthrough)

Hong Yang NPC

Talk to Hong Yang at the Encircling Lake to initiate the quest. He can be found near the waterfall area, close to the teleport waypoint. You need to find the keys to open the chest behind the waterfall. Paying Hong Yang 50 coins will reveal the exact locations of the keys.

1. Acquire the First Key

1. Go to the house south of Twinbeast Ridge to obtain the first key.
2. Solve the Meow Meow puzzle inside the house to collect the key.

2. Acquire the Second Key

Travel to the Tiger Fort north of Twinbeast Ridge to get the second key.

1. Move to the back of the house inside the fort.
