Where Winds Meet – All Attributes and Their Effects

Learn more about how to upgrade all the stats in Where Winds Meet that need to be upgraded for every aspect of combat and exploration to make your character better at mini games, taking down enemies, and more.

Where Winds Meet - All Attributes and Their Effects

Where Winds Meet is a open-world MMORPG with a lot of solo activities to do. In order to successfully complete quests, fight NPCs, win PvP matches, and even play some mini games, you will need to understand and raise your stats. There are two different types of these Attributes: Combat and Exploration.

1. How Combat Damage Works in Where Winds Meet

Combat Damage is calculated based on Power mostly as well as Agility and Momentum which are three of the Five Attributes, which are the five main stats on your character. These Attributes are raised by leveling your character in Solo Mode.

1.1 The Five Attributes and What They Do

  • Body: Raises Max HP.
  • Power: Raises your Physical Attack. This is how base damage is calculated.
  • Defense: Raises Physical Defense and Max HP.
  • Agility: Raises Critical Rate and Min Physical Attack
  • Momentum: Raises Affinity Rate and Max Physical Attack.
Combat Attributes include five base stats.

Combat Attributes include five base stats.

1.2 Physical Attack

Physical Attack is the amount of damage you can hit an enemy for. You can raise this by leveling and by Gear Tuning as well as some other attributes. This isn’t the only stat that will change the amount of damage you can do, but it is the main one.

How to Raise Physical Attack

  • Character upgrade in both Online and Solo Mode.
  • Gear Development and also raise your max HP.
  • Melodies of Peace upgraded with Oddities.
  • By raising the Power, Agility, and Momentum stats from the Five Attributes above.

Other Ways to Raise Attack Damage Dealt

  • Damage is also effected by Weapons and Weapon Levels.
  • There is also a Physical Damage Bonus, raised by Inner Ways Breakthroughs. This stat raises the damage you deal with physical attacks.
  • Physical Penetration raises your ability to deal damage and heal with physical attacks. This stat can be raised with Inner Way Breakthrough and Gear Attuning.

1.3 Precision Rate and Critical Hits

When you attempt to hit an enemy, the game will run several calculations to see how much damage you will deal and whether or not it is a Precision Hit or not. The Precision Rate is a percentage that determines whether you attack with your Max Attack or Min Attack rates, based on a roll. Precision Hits can trigger Critical stats while Non-Precision Hits trigger Abrasion

  • When you connect with an enemy, you roll your Precision Rate
  • Precision Rate determines whether a hit is Precise or Non-Precise.
  • Precise Hits then can roll to see if they are Critical Hits or Affinity Hits.
  • Non-Precise Hits can be Affinity Hits or Abrasion Hits.
  • If nothing is rolled, you make a Normal Hit based on your weapon and stats

How to Raise Precision Rate

  • Level Up in Solo Mode.
  • Gear Tuning.
  • Inner Way Breakthroughs.

How to Raise Critical Rate

  • Raise your Agility by leveling.
  • Gear Tuning.
  • Inner Way Breakthroughs.
  • Critical Damage Bonus is a percentage can only be raised with Inner Way Breakthroughs.

How to Raise Affinity Rate and Direct Affinity Rate

  • By raising the Momentum stat from the Five Attributes.
  • Gear tuning.
  • Inner Way Breakthroughs.
  • Direct Affinity Rate is a percentage added to your Affinity Rate percentage. It can only be raised by Inner Way Breakthroughs.

1.4 Damage Calculation Flow in Where Winds Meet

The Combat stat that adds Critical Damage.

The Combat stat that adds Critical Damage.

Before the detailed breakdown in the table, here is a simple overview of how the game decides whether your hit is strong, average, or weak.

  1. Base Attack: The game starts from your Physical Attack range (Min, Median, Max) plus bonuses from Power, weapon stats, and other damage modifiers.
  2. Hit Type Roll: It then rolls your Precision, Critical, Affinity, and Abrasion stats to decide whether the hit becomes a Critical Hit, Affinity Hit, or Abrasion Hit.
  3. Final Damage: Depending on the result, it uses Max, Median, or Min Attack and applies the right bonus (Critical Damage Bonus, Affinity Damage Bonus, or no bonus) to produce the final damage number.

The table below shows the complete step-by-step process the game uses to calculate your final damage. It starts from your base Attack stats and then follows either the Precision or Non-Precision path to determine whether the hit becomes a Critical Hit, Affinity Hit, or Abrasion Hit.

Attack
Based on Physical Attack / Power / Weapon Bonuses / Physical Penetration / Physical Damage Bonus
Then rolls Precision Rate
Precision Roll
Non-Precision Roll
Rolls Critical Rate + Direct Critical Rate Rolls Abrasion Rate – Abrasion Conversion Rate – Direct Affinity Rate
If Critical and Affinity fail = Normal Attack If Affinity and Abrasion fail = Normal Attack
Critical Hit Affinity Hit Abrasion Hit
Great Hit. Great hit. Worst hit.
Deals an additional 50% damage. Deals an additional 35% damage. Abrasion Conversion Rate changes Abrasion hits to Normal Hit.
Hit based on Normal Attack. Hit based on Maximum Attack. Hit based on Minimum Attack.
Add Critical Damage Bonus Add Affinity Damage Bonus Adds no bonuses.
When Affinity and Critical hits roll = Best damage (Maximum Attack x 1.35 x 1.5)

Example Damage Roll With Simplified Stats

This example shows how one hit is calculated in Where Winds Meet using the same values as in the damage flowchart. It starts from a simple Physical Attack range and then applies Precision, Critical, Affinity, and Abrasion outcomes.

Your Combat Stats (Example)

These are the simplified stats used for the calculation below.

  • Physical Attack: 500–1000
  • Precision Hit: lets the game check for Critical and Affinity
  • Critical Damage: +50% (1.5× damage multiplier, up to 80% rate cap)
  • Affinity Damage: +35% (1.35× damage multiplier, up to 40% rate cap)
  • Abrasion Damage: 50% of the minimum roll (0.5× of Min Attack)

Step-by-Step Damage Calculation

Follow these steps to see how the game turns your stats into a final damage number for different hit types.

1. Base Attack Range

The game starts from your Physical Attack range:

  • Min Attack: 500
  • Max Attack: 1000
2. Normal Hit (No Crit, No Affinity)

First, the game rolls a value inside your attack range. In this example, it rolls a Normal Hit for 700 damage.

  • Random roll from 500 to 1000 → 700
  • No Critical and no Affinity trigger → damage stays 700
3. Critical Hit (Crit Only)

If the same roll becomes a Critical Hit, the game takes that 700-point Normal Hit and applies the +50% Critical Damage bonus.

  • Normal roll: 700
  • Critical Damage: 700 × 1.5 = 1050
  • Final Critical Hit damage: 1050
4. Affinity Hit (Affinity Only)

If the hit is Precision but Critical fails and Affinity succeeds, the game switches to your maximum possible roll and then applies the Affinity bonus.

  • Base value from Max Attack: 1000
  • Affinity bonus: 1000 × 1.35 = 1350
  • Final Affinity Hit damage: 1350
5. Critical + Affinity Hit (Best Possible Hit)

On a rare hit where both Critical and Affinity succeed together, the game again uses your max roll, applies Affinity, and then applies the Critical bonus on top.

  • Base value from Max Attack: 1000
  • Apply Affinity: 1000 × 1.35 = 1350
  • Apply Critical: 1350 × 1.5 = 2025
  • Final Critical + Affinity Hit damage: 2025
6. Abrasion Hit (Worst Possible Hit)

If the Precision check fails and the hit downgrades all the way to Abrasion, damage is based on half of your minimum roll. This represents a very weak glancing blow.

  • Minimum Attack: 500
  • Abrasion damage: 500 × 0.5 = 250
  • Final Abrasion Hit damage: 250

If Abrasion Conversion Rate succeeds instead, the Abrasion hit is converted back into a Normal Hit in the 500–1000 range rather than dealing the flat 250 damage.

Damage Comparison at a Glance

This table summarizes the main outcomes for the same attack with these example stats.

Hit Type Roll Result Damage
Normal Hit Precision succeeds, Crit and Affinity both fail 700
Critical Hit Precision succeeds → Critical succeeds 1050
Affinity Hit Precision succeeds → Critical fails → Affinity succeeds 1350
Critical + Affinity Hit Precision succeeds → Critical and Affinity both succeed 2025
Abrasion Hit Precision fails → Affinity fails → Abrasion not converted 250

With these stats, the same attack can land anywhere between 250 and 2025 damage, depending on whether the roll ends as an Abrasion Hit, Normal Hit, Affinity Hit, Critical Hit, or full Critical + Affinity Hit.

1.5 Attribute Effect

Attribute Effects are additional healing or damage based on specific Art Talents. There are currently four Arts with Attribute Attack and one with Attribute Healing.

The Bellstrike Attribute attack.

2. Defense Stats

Enemy damage is based on their level, their attack damage, etc. This is then calculated along with your personal defense, defense from armor, and bonuses. Enemies have the same stats that you do, and can attack with Precise and Non-Precise attacks, Critical Hits, and their stats will alter how much you can defend against.

2.1 Physical Defense

Just like most of the other stats in this section, Physical Defense is raised by level, gear, Oddities, and one of the Five Attributes, Defense. Physical Defense lowers the amount you take from attacks, fall, etc.

Qi is similar to poise in Dark Souls or perhaps a toughness bar in other games. When you break an enemy’s Qi or an enemy breaks yours, it makes that character Exhausted, and more damage can be dealt and some special moves can be performed. Qi is raised exclusively by gear.

4. Exploration Attributes
