Ultimate Freyna, Nightmare Dominator

Before getting to know which builds work the best with Ultimate Freyna in The First Descendant, knowing her backstory and what she does now is an important step in understanding her overall skills and abilities. Based on the in-game description of her, which you can see below, Freyna was tormented by the past events that resulted in the Room 0 Accident, killing many people, including her lover.

“As a member of Albion’s intel organization, Colon, she possesses the ability to manipulate toxins at will.
Due to the loss of her lover to the Vulgus, she does not hide her hatred toward them or desire for vengeance.” ― In-game Description of Freyna Leofwin

The Ultimate Descendant Project was to upgrade Ancestors tech and Arche genes to make Descendants better. Freyna was involved in this project without her consent. Her mental state was deteriorating due to past trauma and it was affecting her performance in the field. Sharen her commander was considering drastic measures to stabilize Freyna but in the end, the Ultimate Project was to upgrade her equipment and help her deal with her psychological baggage.

Freyna’s mission took a turn when intel revealed the mastermind of the “Room 0 Incident” was using Ancestors’ equipment to slow down body decay. Ordered to kill this target Freyna was forced to face her past. However, through this mission, she got an anti-decay device completed her Ultimate Project, and freed herself from her trauma. The project didn’t control her mind but empowered her to face her wounds and move on.

Ultimate Freyna’s Materials

Before you can build Ultimate Freyna properly in The First Descendant, you must finish finding all of her materials, which are locked behind the new Amorphous Material Patterns, which drop simultaneously with Ultimate Freyna, called Variant AB.

These new Amorphous Material Patterns Variant AB are readily available through many content in The First Descendant, mainly in the Infiltration Missions and Vulgus Outposts. We have listed the complete list of the necessary materials for Ultimate Freyna below:

Required Research Materials Where to Find the Materials
Enhanced Cells x1

Farming Recommendations for Ultimate Freyna

Gaining the materials for Ultimate Freyna can be challenging as you need to gather them from multiple battlefields scour many Encrypted Vaults and defeat special Elite Enemies to earn the dropped materials from them. However, the show’s stars are of course Ultimate Freyna’s materials. These items are scarce and tricky to get, which may add frustration for a player if they don’t know where the best spots to look them for in-game are.

With that in mind, we have gathered the recommended options for you to ensure that you can get as many Amorphous Material Patterns (AMPs) as fast as possible to maximize your farming efficiency below:

Ultimate Freyna Materials Associated Amorphous Material Patterns Where to Get the AMPs Reason Behind the Choices
Enhanced Cells Blueprint Amorphous Material Pattern 83 – Variant AB Echo Swamp – Derelict Covert Vulgus Outpost

Ultimate Freyna Enhanced Cells Blueprint is only available through Vulgus Outposts. To further its difficulty, you need Sharen to clear them, as the AMPs are locked behind the successful infiltration of an Outpost. Considering that, the Vulgus Outpost in Echo Swamp, which drops AMP 83 – Variant AB, is the best option to look for Ultimate Freyna’s Enhanced Cells.

Stabilizer Blueprint Amorphous Material Pattern 97 – Variant AB Agna Desert – Caligo Ossuary Ultimate Freyna Enhanced Stabilizer Blueprint is available from multiple sources, however, to cut some time for efficiency, it’s better to farm it on an Infiltration Mission, and the best spot for that is in Agna Desert, specifically the Caligo Ossuary mission.
Spiral Catalyst Blueprint Amorphous Material Pattern 54 – Variant AB Kingston – Fallen Theater Vulgus Outpost Running Kingston – Fallen Theater Vulgus Outpost should be your priority to get Ultimate Freyna Spiral Catalyst Blueprint since if you use Sharen here, you also get the chance to get Amorphous Material Pattern 55 – Mutant AA that contains Ultimate Valby Stabilizer Blueprint.
Ultimate Freyna Code Amorphous Material Pattern 67 – Variant AB Sterile Land – The Forgottense The last hurdle you need to face before getting Ultimate Freyna is obtaining her Code. While it may seem that Hagios – Neutralize Void Experiment offers a better drop rate at a 15% chance, you don’t have any guarantee to have it every mission, which is why it is better to get the AMP from Sterile Land – The Forgottense Infiltration Mission, which, albeit only gives you a 6% drop chance for Ultimate Freyna Code, you can get the associated AMP reliably per run.

Ultimate Freyna Abilities

Once we get a sneak peek at how you can farm for Ultimate Freyna’s materials, it’s time to move on and take a closer look at her abilities as a Toxic Attribute Descendant, which we have curated below:

  • Contagion Links (Passive): When an enemy inflicted with Room 0 Trauma is killed, it spawns a Toxic Puddle. Enemies that step into the Toxic Puddle are inflicted with Room 0 Trauma. Room 0 Trauma deals continuous damage and applies Toxic Reactions to nearby enemies.
  • Venom Trauma (Tech): Fires a Toxic Bullet, dealing damage to hit enemies. The Toxic Bullet explodes, creating a Toxic Puddle and inflicting Room 0 Trauma on those it hits. Room 0 Trauma deals continuous damage and applies Panic to nearby enemies.
  • Defense Mechanism (Dimension): Gains Plague Bodyarmor. Inflicts Room 0 Trauma on the attacking enemy. Room 0 Trauma deals continuous damage and applies Despair to nearby enemies.
  • Putrid Venom (Tech): Throw poison to create a Toxic Swamp. Enemies that touch the Toxic Swamp are inflicted with Room 0 Trauma and Venom-Soaked. Venom-Soaked enemies leave Toxic Footprints as they move. Toxic Footprints apply Room 0 Trauma to enemies on contact. Room 0 Trauma deals continuous damage and applies Decay to nearby enemies.
  • Venom Baptism (Tech): Equips a Unique Weapon. Unequipped after all bullets are consumed or after a certain period has passed. Enemies hit by the Unique Weapon bullets are inflicted with Room 0 Trauma. Room 0 Trauma deals continuous damage and applies Nightmare to nearby enemies.

Ultimate Freyna is currently the Toxic Queen of The First Descendant, thanks to her abilities to create pools of toxins wherever she needs them through Venom Trauma and Putrid Venom, while she also gets some defense boost through Defense Mechanism. In addition to these skills, Freyna can also burst down even the toughest enemies in-game by using her Venom Baptism, which allows her to wield a Toxic Unique Weapon momentarily.

Best Ultimate Freyna Builds in The First Descendant

Now that we have seen what you will need before recruiting Ultimate Freyna in The First Descendant, as well as her true strengths as a Descendant, it’s time to dissect her best builds in this guide’s section by discussing her best-in-slot weapon, the best Modules that complement her abilities, and what Reactors work the best with her overall kit.

Best Ultimate Freyna Modules

Since Ultimate Freyna previously had a regular version of her in The First Descendant, she has some Transcendent Module options that you can immediately use if you have the Modules. In addition to that, more Module options are unlocked for her with the major update to the game on October 10, meaning that you can test and experiment more on what suits her abilities the best to ensure that she can dismantle her enemies through her Toxins.

Bearing that in mind, here are four Modules that should always be in your Ultimate Freyna load-outs, no matter what purpose you are using them for:

  1. Toxic Amplification (Rutile/Descendant): Toxic Skill Power up to +65.40%, Skill Critical Hit Damage up to -140%. This new Module, which releases at the same time as Ultimate Freyna, is one of the best Modules for her since it improves her Toxic Skill Power extensively while also removing Critical Hit Damage, which is useless for Ultimate Freyna, who has an immensely low Skill Critical Hit Rate and Damage.
  2. Maximize Range (Rutile/Descendant): Skill Effect Range up to +94.40%, Skill Power Modifier up to -20%. This Module gives an ample Skill Effect Range for Ultimate Freyna, which can tremendously increase her Skill 1 and 3’s ranges to cover an entire battlefield.
  3. Venom Synthesis (Rutile/Transcendent Module): Putrid Venom skill conversion. Leaves behind a Toxic Footprint after every step. Inflicts Room 0 Trauma on enemies coming in contact with Toxic Footprint. This is one of the best Transcendent Modules you can use on Ultimate Freyna, as this allows you to run around the battlefield using Skill 3 while also damaging any enemy that steps in your footprints. This is great for mobbing, especially in the new 400% Infiltration Dungeons.
  4. Contagion (Rutile/Transcendent Module): When an enemy inflicted with Room 0 Trauma is killed, a contagion of Room 0 Trauma surrounds it. Another excellent mobbing Transcendent Module for Ultimate Freyna, as this Module allows you to sit back and enjoy the show once you injected the battlefield with your Skill 1 and 3 since any new enemies will immediately receive Room 0 Trauma status effect and kill them shortly after.

Secret Garden, Best Weapon for Ultimate Freyna

Ultimate Freyna’s builds in The First Descendant won’t be complete without talking about the best weapon that she can use to dismantle and help her eliminate any Vulgus that dares to stand in her way. Since three of her abilities are Tech in nature, bringing Secret Garden as your weapon of choice will be beneficial, since its Unique Ability, Gardener, allows you to gain a Pest Control effect whenever you use a Tech skill, further amplifying both your Firearm ATK and Skill Power.

For Secret Garden’s sub-stats, there are four attributes that you must get to fully maximize its potential to complement Ultimate Freyna’s abilities, though getting all the desired sub-stats is not necessary to realize the weapon’s potential. We have curated all the necessary sub-stats below:

  • Bonus Firearm ATK Colossus (vs. Colossus)
  • Firearm Critical Hit Damage
  • Firearm ATK / Round per Magazine
  • Toxic ATK

Since Secret Garden will be Ultimate Freyna’s main weapon, for her secondary and tertiary options, bringing Thunder Cage and Enduring Legacy will be your go-to loadout here, thanks to their awesome mobbing and bossing capacities respectively.

Secret Garden is the perfect tool for Ultimate Freyna.

Weapon Modules

For Secret Garden’s Modules, you want to maximize the weapon’s Firearm ATK, Rounds per Magazine, and Critical Hit Damage.  Let’s take a look at the major Modules you want to have in Secret, while also seeing the reasoning behind them:

  1. Rifling Reinforcement (Malachite): The quintessential Module that you should have in any weapon, including Secret Garden, as it boosts your Firearm ATK up to +32%.
  2. Action and Reaction (Malachite): Firearm ATK up to +61%, Recoil up to +20%. This Module provides a massive Firearm ATK bonus and the additional Recoil does not affect Secret Garden very much since its Fire Rate is not that high.
  3. Concentration Priority (Almandine): Firearm Critical Hit Damage up to +47 %, Reload Time Modifier up to -30%. This Module massively improves the Secret Garden’s Critical Hit Damage and pairs well since this Ultimate Weapon has a big base Critical Hit Rate, sitting at 50% without even wearing a Module that boosts its Critical Hit Rate.

Best Reactor and External Components

To complete the Ultimate Freyna build in The First Descendant, it is also important to select the correct Reactor and External Components to enhance her Toxic Abilities.

Starting with her best Reactor, you should try finding a Toxic Mechanics Reactor, which boosts both Toxic Attribute and Tech Skill Power. A major reason why this Reactor is the best for Ultimate Freyna is thanks to its compatibility with her abilities, which are heavily Tech-based skills. Moreover, to further increase the Reactor’s strength, the optimal sub-stats for it are Toxic Skill Power Boost Ratio and Skill Effect Range. Lastly, for the Gold Toxic Mechanics Reactor, finding one with Secret Garden mounting will be optimal, though this will not be a problem when the October 30 update comes around, which practically deletes the weapon mounting restrictions.

For External Components, you should find and equip the Venom Essence Set for Ultimate Freyna, which is accessible from Swamp Walker, a Void Intercept Boss. This set grants Ultimate Freyna with additional Toxic Skill Power, and if you decide to go all in and aim for the 4-piece bonus, you can gain the following bonuses: Tactical Rifle, Assault Rifle Firearm Attribute Effect Trigger Rate +12% For each Poison stack inflicted upon enemies, Firearm ATK +2%, Skill Power Modifier +0.7% for 5s at a 30% chance (up to 10 stacks, 5s duration).

In terms of sub-stats, you should try and find Max MP, Max HP, and MP Recovery sub-stats to help negate Ultimate Freyna’s low MP pool.
