Stellar Blade | Abaddon Boss Fight Guide

This guide will help you learn how to tactically breach through Abaddon, Stellar Blade's first true Boss among many others, by learning its move sets, which primarily consist of two phases, alongside its attacking patterns that rely on the deadly weapons that will mow down EVE if you are not careful. You can find Abaddon quite early on in Eidos 7, specifically in the Parking Garage area.

Stellar Blade Abaddon Boss Fight Guide

Stellar Blade can be a tough game to beat, especially with how souls-like it can be at times, where even the most basic enemy type can injure or potentially kill EVE in this game.

Even smaller creatures like the Creepers can and will end your run unexpectedly if you’re not at 100% while facing them. Another enemy archetype that I personally find annoying is the Cricket Slasher, as this enemy has randomized moves that can be unpredictable at times, rendering my Health Points to drop down. However, the top dogs in Stellar Blade should be your main concern while traversing the deadly environments that are available to explore, from the starting point, Eidos 7, to the vast Great Desert, every nook and cranny has the potential to field tough enemies and Bosses, and one of them, in fact, the very first time you will encounter this type of Naytiba, is available during your early run.

Its name is Abaddon, a two-horned creature who wields two giant swords that can punish your careless moves with its lightning-imbued strikes.  With that in mind, this guide will help you masterfully defeat the first real obstacle within Stellar Blade, Abaddon, by understanding its attacking patterns, as well as looking out for its lightning attacks, which are devastating and can kill your EVE incredibly quickly if you are not careful enough to Dodge them.

Who is the Abaddon?

Abaddon is one of the first of many Elite Naytibas that we will encounter in Stellar Blade. This nasty creature will intercept EVE’s journey when she tries to traverse Eidos 7 and get to the Hall of Records, by blocking her path on the Parking Garage’s rooftop area.

Abaddon’s most recognizable feature lies in its twin rugged horns that adorn its faceless head. Alongside these terrifying features, it wields dual swords that are sometimes enhanced with thunder’s powers, rendering its attacks stronger than usual. While not necessarily the most agile Elite Naytiba that players will encounter, the Abaddon makes it up by utilizing its brute force and powerful moves.

As an Elite Naytiba, Abaddon has tremendous strength and deadly capabilities that can even kill the veterans of the Airborne Squads as well as the remaining survivors of Earth’s soldiers. As EVE, however, all Stellar Blade players must kill the Abaddon before it can kill you to progress further in the game, and this guide will help you do just that, which I will explain deeper in the next sections.

How to Counter Abaddon’s Moves

To effectively defeat Abaddon safely, you first must know the moves that Abaddon possesses. For the most part, Abaddon is relatively simple, as it only has two major phases that players need to be wary of, with the latter phase being highly dangerous and requiring more evasions than the first phase to defeat Abaddon without taking too much damage.

The First Phase

Once the initial cutscene is over, Abaddon will quickly rush into EVE’s location and try to slash her into oblivion.

In the first phase, Abaddon primarily uses two heavy attacks in quick succession. The first attack is a sweeping motion that covers a wide area in front of it, while the second attack is a downward strike that can cause significant damage if not avoided. The safest option, while it is trying to perform this combo attack, is to use Perfect Parry against them.

The reason for this is that even without the Focus Boost Skill, the time window for Parrying its attacks is quite lenient and allows all players to do so comfortably without worrying about losing a major chunk of their Health Points. I’ve noticed several times that after successfully using Perfect Parry against the Abaddon, attacking it with a Beta Skill helps stagger the Naytiba, thus I manage to chip out on its health bar substantially before it returns to its normal state.

However, Abaddon’s first phase also contains several unblockable attacks that require you to either use Perfect Dodge or Blink, as these attacks will deplete your HP quickly if you try to tank two or more attacks. When you notice this type of attack, I advise you to follow the most optimal way of countering that move (Perfect Dodge for yellow-marked attacks, and Blink for blue-marked attacks).

The rule of thumb when fighting Abaddon in the first phase is that most of its attacks come from its left side, followed by a second attack from its right side. Once you get the hang of this pattern, then the first half of Stellar Blade‘s Abaddon Boss fight will be easier to navigate.

The Second Phase

And, if you manage to deplete Abaddon’s health bar to around 60%, then it will begin to initiate the second phase, marked by the unmistakable yellow lightning bolts that now sometimes imbue its swords.

There are some stark differences between Abaddon’s second phase compared to the first one, the most notable being that it now uses three quick attacks instead of two and that those attacks deal slightly more damage due to the weapon enhancement that the Abaddon receives.

However, just like its first phase, whenever Abaddon tries to use this combo attack, it will always begin by swinging its left arm first. The swing is then followed by two fast and quite unpredictable attacks that are harder to Dodge and Parry, meaning that you will need to be more agile and aware of the slightly different timings compared to Abaddon’s first phase strings of attacks.

Perfect Parry is still your best bet against the Abaddon here, and it’s alright to get knocked down once or twice by this combo attack, as it will give you the knowledge of how this particular string works, therefore increasing your chances of being able to properly counter Abaddon’s major part of its attacking arsenal.

Another thing you should be wary of in the second phase is the Abaddon’s ability to summon lightning. You must use Perfect Dodge whenever it tries to hurl down three lightning bolts at your current location, otherwise, you’ll sustain some damage as seen in the second image below.

Also, apart from the usual combo attacks, the Abaddon in its second phase can power through most of EVE’s normal attacks to try landing a hard-hitting blow with the help of its lightning swords to her. To counter this, it’s better to wait until this string is complete by either Dodging or using Perfect Parry against it, and then land a Beta Skill right after to stagger the Abaddon momentarily, and then lay all haymakers upon it (Incursion or Onslaught Combos are perfect during this time), thus defeating it completely, and you can continue your mission in Eidos 7.

And that’s all the information you will need to successfully kill the Abaddon and advance your adventure in Stellar Blade.
