Learn everything you need to know about one of the two new classes in Slay the Spire 2: The Regent, an aristocrat that has fallen from the stars.

Slay the Spire 2 - How to Play the Regent

Slay the Spire 2 introduced two new classes, The Regent and The Necrobinder. If you are stumped by how to build The Regent, you aren’t alone. Let’s dive into how to build this character for your best chance at taking down the Spire.

1. Different Ways to Build The Regent in Slay the Spire 2

The Regent is probably the most challenging of the five Slay the Spire 2 characters to build for. There are three main decks you can build for The Regent, which are listed below. Each can be built as a full deck or part of another.

  • The Sovereign Blade Deck
  • The Card Creation Deck
  • The Stars Deck

2. The Regent Stars Deck in Slay the Spire 2

Stars are probably one of the easier decks to build. It can ramp into some very powerful spells, tearing down enemy HP quickly. You begin your first turn with three energy and three stars; the energy comes back at the beginning of each turn, but the stars do not. This means you will need to gather cards that give you more.

5. The Best Way to Play The Regent

Overall, The Regent is the most difficult class to play well in Slay the Spire 2. When all is said and done, he feels like a character best designed for multiplayer games. However, the decks above should give you some ideas of how to climb the Spire solo with this new hero. If you want to be successful, keep these in mind:

  • The Regent is great at attacking, but less good at Block and defense. You will need to keep your HP as high as possible and Rest a lot at camps.
  • The Stars Deck is the easiest to play, and it will offer the best Block cards to help keep you alive while still dealing a lot of damage.
  • Sovereign Blade is an energy-intensive card to play, so you want to be careful with it. Thankfully, it has Retain, and you are better off saving it for next turn than taking a lot of damage.
  • The Card Creation Deck will be the hardest to play and get going. It requires a specific load out to even get off the ground, but it can be very powerful.
  • Try to stick with a theme. While a lot of other heroes can mix and match their decks, The Regent might work best if you pick a strategy at stick with it until the end.
  • Hopefully, The Regent will see some tweaking in the future.
