Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown | All Moon Gatherer Locations Guide

Alongside the main story in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, there are several special Side Quests that you can complete for the people trapped in Mount Qaf. These quests include everything from uncovering the hidden Prophecy of Mount Qaf, one which has seemingly predicted the game’s main narrative beat by beat, to helping a soldier find his dead friend to taking revenge for an old woman’s family. The rewards from these quests are usually very worthwhile, too, awarding successful players with new Amulets, Time Crystals, Soma Tree Petals and more. One of the most important Side Quests is the Moon Gatherer Side Quest in The Lost Crown.

The Moon Gatherer is an odd fellow you’ll first encounter in the Sacred Archives. After speaking to him, he’ll reveal his goal to find the shattered pieces of the true moon and return them to the skies above Mount Qaf, a quest that you can help him with. Completing the Moon Gatherer Side Quest is a required part of getting 100% completion in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown as it contributes to the Charitable Soul trophy and achievement, but the final reward it offers for completion is good enough reason to go out and help the Gatherer on his journey.

How to Start the Moon Gatherer Side Quest in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Before you can start the Moon Gatherer quest in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you’ll need to find the eponymous Moon Gatherer, first, who can be found in the Sacred Archives. While wandering around the starting section of the Archives, you may have fallen down one of its many holes to find a strange sight: a glowing blue moon will be in the middle of a hallway that you cannot interact with, pick up or damage. As such, many players may wander off, unsure of what this moon signifies.

In reality, it’s actually a clue to the location of the Moon Gatherer. One of these glowing blue moons will appear on the map whenever this NPC is in the nearby area. In this first instance, head left from where you found this first moon into a small closed-off room. At first glance, it appears to be completely empty but, on the opposite side of the room, you should notice a flimsy wooden door which can be knocked down, revealing a hidden section where the Moon Gatherer is hiding away.

After allaying his fears that the Jailer is coming to get him, the Moon Gatherer will ask you to aid him in his quest to, well, recover the true moon. He tells Sargon that he thinks thieves have stolen and shattered the true moon and that the one currently hanging above Mount Qaf is an illusion. He also says that he knows where to find these shards of the moon and wants Sargon’s help in securing them.

Accepting his request will begin the aptly named Moon Gatherer Side Quest. Then, he’ll scamper off to find that first shard, asking you to find him whenever you have the time. As a token of his thanks, he’ll also give you the Dragon King Amulet, a three-socket cost Amulet which lets you negate one killing blow, which may prove useful to players finding certain bosses or enemies particularly challenging.

With the Moon Gatherer’s quest accepted, you now need to track him down. In total, he’ll pop in four different areas across Mount Qaf.

The Depths Moon Gatherer Location

The first place you’ll find the Moon Gatherer after talking to him in the Sacred Archives is in The Depths, the vast underground labyrinth beneath the Lower City. As a hint, the Moon Gatherer Side Quest will tell you to search for him in a flooded area of The Depths.

The flooded area in question is beneath an elevator shaft close to a Wak-Wak Tree. However, you can’t just ride the elevator down to the bottom as it only stops at two different levels, with the exit you need to take below the lowest level. To get around this, once you’re standing on the elevator, create a Shadow using the Shadow of the Smirugh Time Power. Then, activate the elevator and return to your Shadow once the elevator has ascended: this will allow you to fall down the previously filled elevator shaft and reach the bottom, revealing a hidden tunnel which goes deeper into The Depths.

Following this path will take you to an optional traversal section, one where you must swing from beam to beam while pulling on levers to lower the water level. If you’re in search of the Moon Gatherer, you should hear his shrill voice calling out for help when you reach this area. He’s trapped behind some easy-to-break rubble and debris which you reveal once you drain all of the water. Break the rubble, free the Moon Gatherer and he’ll be on his way to his next location.

Sunken Harbor Moon Gatherer Location

After exploring the Depths, the next location the Moon Gatherer will visit in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is the Sunken Harbor. The Sunken Harbor clue talks about how the Moon Gatherer has been held captive by a giant crustacean, needing your help to free him.

The easiest way to reach the Moon Gather’s location in the Sunken Harbor is to head east from the entrance to the Pit of Eternal Sand. After crossing a traversal puzzle with a spiked floor, you’ll reach a rather barren stretch of village with a rickety bridge.

If you get underneath that bridge, you’ll find the Moon Gatherer himself stuck at the top of a ship’s mast, once again begging for your aid. This time, you need to dispatch a nearby giant grab before the Moon Gatherer will come down from his hiding spot.

Pit of Eternal Sand Moon Gatherer Location

The Moon Gatherer’s third stop in Mount Qaf is the Pit of Eternal Sand. This area is massive and expansive, covered in dunes and sharp red crystals that will try and impede you at all turns. The Moon Gatherer’s clue this time is that he is stuck, somehow, inside of a jar.

To find him, progress through the Pit until you arrive in the area of the map signified by a set of buildings. Then, begin making your way south to where you descend to fight Azdaha. However, before going below to the next stage transition, pause and look to your left: there should be a wall there and, if you hit it with your weapons, it will collapse to reveal a hidden doorway which was previously kept out of sight.

Inside, you will find the unlucky Moon Gatherer trapped inside a regular jar, as well as one of the coveted Sand Jars you’ll need to complete the Prophecy of Mount Qaf Side Quest. From here, simply break the pot open using your swords to free the Moon Gatherer and send him on his way to his final destination.

Tower of Silence Moon Gatherer Location

Last, but not least, the Moon Gatherer’s final location in The Lost Crown is the Tower of Silence, the final major area of the game as well as its most demanding in terms of both combat and traversal. Your hint for this area will reveal that the Moon Gatherer has got himself caught by a Gravedigger, one of the large hammer-wielding enemies who spawn additional opponents from the casket on their back.

To find the Moon Gatherer for the final time, make your way to the area in the Tower of Silence marked by two falling boulders on the map. The main gimmick of this location (and the Tower of Silence as a whole) are these icy rocks that fall from the sky, dealing heavy damage whenever you run into them. This area is also full of Gravediggers but the one you’re looking for is near the bottom of the map, near the precarious holes that the ice rocks fall into. Just like the last times you’ve rescued the Moon Gatherer, you’ll hear him before you see him, with his cries for help echoing throughout the whole Tower.

Defeat the Gravedigger and you’ll release the Moon Gatherer from his imprisonment. As a reward for helping him recover and restore the true moon to its rightful place, the Moon Gatherer will give you a bountiful reward in the form of another Healing Potion: if you’ve already bought all of the available Healing Potion upgrades from the Haven, this will allow you to carry up to 5 Potions at once, which will prove extremely handy when it comes to the games final few bosses.

That was where to find all Moon Gatherer locations for his unique Side Quest in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
