Throughout Palworld you’ll find a significant amount of creatures and people capable of becoming your pal. With some being easier to catch than others, it’s no surprise that there are a few tips and tricks for getting the most out of your pal spheres. So combining some early game tips and easy exploits, here are a few things you can do to make survival more of thriving! These will include tips for creating pal spheres when to use them, and what to look for when searching for the perfect team. However moreover this will be a set of exploits you can use in order to make the system work better for you, and always catch the best pals.
The main thing to keep in mind about Palworld’s catching system is that it works remarkably well when paired with status effects and environmental conditions. For instance, there are certain times of the day, certain biomes, and effects that can be used in order to increase success rates dramatically. Most of this comes down to basic logic, knowing that a sleeping pal has less chance of escaping than an awake one. Others boil down to knowing where to throw the sphere, and which pals to have available to you when you want to catch other ones. But overall each of these can be used in order to produce your base into a working ecosystem better!

Pal Sphere Type Effectiveness
The first major aspect of catching pals in Palworld is the use of pal spheres. These are widely craftable, purchasable, or just found littered throughout the map. Pal spheres come in multiple grades ranging from the basic sphere to a mega sphere, and a giga sphere. Each of these differs in their color, and overall effectiveness on certain kinds of pals you’ll find in the world. For instance, low-level pals may be easily susceptible to the basic sphere, but the larger the creature, the harder it will be to capture. Because of this reason, the mega sphere and giga sphere catch larger pals and even raid bosses with them. In general, every pal save for those related to syndicate towers can be captured, you’ll just need to keep some things in mind.
For instance, a raid boss located in a cave that’s larger than the basic variety may have a better time being caught inside of a mega sphere. However if they are a raid boss found out in the open wild like the moss mammoths, you’ll want to keep gigaspheres on hand. Like other monster-catching games, you can abuse these spheres by sending out varying levels of increasing strength to ensure capture. However, due to the manner of the capture RNG, you can increase your chances with other outside factors. For instance, a pal suffering from a status effect may be capable of capturing easier than something just at low health.
Damage Types And Status Effects
Leading on to this top, varying types of damage or status effects can greatly increase the chances of success when trying to capture pals. This can be seen easiest by sending out attacks from the opposite elemental type of itself, or by inflicting a status condition. Damage needs to be treated with a level of caution, as too much will cause the creature to faint and thus not be able to be captured. However, if you can do big damage with say the crossbow, and switch to the spear to lower the health in smaller increments, it increases the rate of capture. To this end, pals are able to fight capture based on how many life points they have left. The smaller the amount, the less likely they are to fend off capture from the sphere.
Pals like Daedream are great for keeping around your base or using in battle. – The witch hat is a schematic for dark resistance located in the small village.
Status Effects such as burn, poison, and freeze can be used to increase these rates even higher. It’s no surprise that a plant may not be so defensively capable if it’s on fire, or frozen into place. To go along with this, effects that openly stun the pal will make it significantly easier to lower their health and stay alive. You do want to be careful though, as mixing different elemental types can backfire if the sphere’s RNG is not in your favor. To deal with this, make sure you’re only using your pals to deal damage to the creature so long as you know it can take it. The moment it begins to get weakened, you should return your pal and focus on damaging or capturing it yourself.
Environment And Time
Depending on your location, and the time of day you may find pals easier or harder to deal with, relating directly to whether or not you can surprise them. Some pals will only spawn during certain times or locations to begin with, which can make this rule of thumb differ slightly. However, for the most part, if it can easily be found in the world like a roaming raid boss, or even some higher-level pals, nighttime attacks work far better. Dealing damage to the opponent while they’re asleep can cause surprise damage that when paired with a sphere can lead to quick and cheesy captures. Every creature has a set of habits they follow typically based on their type and how powerful they are. So, by catching pals while they are least expecting a confrontation, you can make a little go a long way.
Keep in mind that while this surprise attack will work for the first few attacks on a pal, over time this advantage wears away. For this reason, mixing it with another easy strategy can lead to some very satisfying results. You can extend the effects of a surprise attack if you can freeze onto the pal before they have a chance to react. So, to prolong this window of opportunity make sure to travel around with ice or water-type pals that can assist this result. Besides being effective for capture, this can make a great damage-dealing strategy for hard-to-beat areas, or enemies!
Pals like Depresso can work the quarry, and look extra moody while doing it. – This pal is notorious for their moody, and edgy look adding to their cuteness.
Stab In The Back
Important to the idea of catching pals quickly, or even dealing a lot more damage than usual is to focus on attacking from behind. Besides head shots which deal a lot of critical damage, trying to catch a pal from behind will give you an additional bonus. Keep in mind that this will not be as effective if the pal is high in health, but weakening them down, and catching them behind is a potent method. To maximize this effect during situations like boss raids and powerful pals just roaming in the world, make sure you make them engage outside opponents. Usually, this can easily happen if a group like the syndicate starts attacking the creature you want to capture. So mixing this with the last tip can lead to some extraordinary results.
Beyond being useful for catching certain pals who are super tough, this will also negate the sphere-blocking feature some have. You’ll want to make sure that when you hit them from behind they aren’t trying to focus on you or make an attack as this can mess up the maneuver. Finally, if you were wondering how to catch humans like syndicate members, this is the best overall strategy. Ordinarily, you will get your spheres blocked by them in any other circumstance, but catching them behind can win you a smart pal. Of course, since humans are catchable pals, they are mostly useful for base building and other strategies related to catching better pals.
Automated Sphere Production
Probably one of the best tips to keep in mind when you want to capture pals is to create a sphere production area. Simply put, even if it’s basic spheres all you need is stone, wood, and crystal ore, all of which can be gotten from a base really early on. Due to this simplistic method of creating an automated base, you could easily set yourself up with a situation where near-infinite spheres are crafted. While Palworld has been made popular for these factories and other supposedly cruel conditions, remember that if you fill them with syndicate members they don’t really care. Keep in mind to maximize this effort you’ll need things like food production, hot tubs, and other stress relievers so your pals don’t lose sanity.
Syndicate members are great pals to capture for your base, but make sure you aim at them from behind!
Despite what you might hear about the game and its ties to slave labor antics, you’ll find this isn’t so easily accomplished. For instance, unless you have means of making sure your pals are happy, they just openly won’t work for you, or do their tasks. Because of this, it’s almost instrumental that you create an environment that’s conducive to a happy pal, especially for higher-quality items. To go along with this automated production of spheres, you should make sure to stock up on ammunition and healing materials. Additionally, always make sure to upgrade your base so that you can unlock higher tier, and better crafting properties.
Pal Sphere Bench
One of these items instrumental for making this process easier is stuff like the pal Sphere Bench. This will allow you and your pals to produce spheres at a much higher rate of production than you would with a normal workbench. Of course, this also allows you to create more varieties of spheres like the before-mentioned mega and giga spheres. Along with your pal Sphere Bench, it’s a good idea to make sure the pal you assign to it has the handiwork perk. Besides this, finding another pal that has the production foreman perk can make factory production of these spheres quicker and more efficient. Ultimately though, this one item can make the production of pal spheres so much easier than it otherwise would have been.
Grinder
Another item that’ll make the production of pal spheres even better is building the grinder onto your base. This simple item is powered by a water pal and can allow your stone to be transmuted into the crystals required to make all types of spheres. This isn’t a necessary means of producing them, as of course, you can go around and mine deposits that have a bluish hue to them. However, by doing this you can make sure the production of pal spheres is completely self-sufficient, coming from your base without other outside help. Of course, there is one more improvement that can greatly increase the production of your pal spheres from your base, this being the smelter to go along with your ore deposit quarry.
Smelters/ Quarries
Adding a smelter and ore quarry can make sure that no matter what level of sphere you want, it’ll be easily produced. The only difference between the basic pal Sphere and a mega or giga is the use of iron ingots in production. The mega sphere will only require one of these ingots, but the giga requires two. So by collecting both of these base options, you can easily make sure that you have a firm collection of green and gold pal spheres. It’s important to note that in order to make the most of your smelter, you’ll need to have access to a fire-type pal so it can operate. On top of this, smelters generally slow down the production process, so make sure to build up resources between production batches.
Effigy Collecting
Perhaps the most important thing you can do to increase your chances of catching a pal is collecting the effigies around the map. These take the form of a glowing green statue and can be traded into your statue of power for increases to your capture rate. These are spread out throughout every biome, and have the ability to be seen from high places very easily. If you are looking around while exploring and notice a green light in the distance, it may be one of these worthwhile collectibles. With every power level you increase, you’ll get a five percent increase in your basic capture rate potential. This means that if you were to collect them all, you’d be able to capture raid bosses with simple methods like the basic pal Sphere.
To collect these, you’ll need to explore every part of the map, with every available biome. So to make this process easier, make sure you travel to as many fast travel points as possible and have the right clothing to quicken things. If not, you risk just running around aimlessly until you run into something much stronger than you looking to pick a fight. It’s also wise to keep in mind that effigies will find themselves closer to these spawn/ fast travel points than anywhere else. It’s also notable that effigies can’t be found in caves, or syndicate towers, acting as a reward for exploring the world.
