The Scribe Table is part of the Together Update for No Rest for the Wicked, introduced to overhaul the crafting system. The Scribe Table replaces traditional blueprint rarity drops with a system that lets players research and unlock any item using Research Papers. This system greatly expands crafting flexibility across gear, consumables, structures, and more.
1. How Scribe Table Works
The Scribe Table is a research interface where you spend Research Papers to unlock recipes for items you’ve found or want to craft. Once a recipe is unlocked, you can craft that item at the appropriate crafting station (Anvil, Sewing Table, Stove, etc.) — no more relying on blueprints.
Key Functions
- Displays all craftable items you’ve discovered or can research.
- Allows you to research items you’ve found, depending on their tier, for 1 to 3 Research Papers.
- Random Research feature allowing you to randomly research items in a chosen category for 3 Research Papers.
- Some tier 1 food items, like Mushroom and Meat Curry costs 1 Research Paper to research; similarly, gear with tier 2 costs 2 Research paper and higher-tier 3 items cost 3 Research papers and an Adept Scrible Table for Research.
After researching an item at the Scribe Table, you go to the proper crafting station and craft the item with materials. For example, higher-tier items will require upgrade stations. For high-tier weapons, you will need a Forged Anvil. You can check the sign on an item to check if it requires the Adept Scribe Table to be researched.
2. Where to Find the Scribe Table
The primary Scribe Table is located next to Maker Danos in Sacrament’s marketplace — the town hub unlocked after completing the early main quests. That’s the main location where you can interact with it to research items using Research Papers.
The Scribe Table is also available for purchase from Danos, who changes his inventory daily. This will allow you to place it directly in your home, making it easy to research items. Or you can try your luck and try to uncover it directly using the Question mark in the Structures – Crafting Tables section.
3. Novice vs Adept Scribe Table
There are two versions of the Scribe Table you can use in your player house: Novice and Adept.
Novice Scribe Table
The Novice Scribe Table is the basic crafting station you can place in your home. It allows you to research most items you discover in the world, turning them into craftable blueprints.
How to Use
- Place the Novice Scribe Table in your home.
- Open the table interface and browse items you have discovered. Items not yet researched will show a research option.
- Researching an item consumes 1-3 research papers (a basic crafting material).
- Once research is complete, the item is marked with a checkmark, meaning it is now craftable.
- Novice Scribe Tables are sufficient for early-game crafting and basic gear optimization, but they have limited access to advanced recipes and rare crafting options.
Adept Scribe Table
The Adept Scribe Table is the higher-tier crafting station, designed for mid-to-endgame players who want advanced research options and better random research outcomes. It is unlocked after completing Maker Danos’ Level 3 architecture project, making it a progression reward.
Benefits of Adept Scribe Table
- Access to rare and advanced item blueprints that are not available on the Novice Table.
- Improved research outcomes, meaning you have a higher chance of finding favorable facets and item levels when crafting.
- Ideal for crafting plagued items or preparing endgame weapons with specific stat goals.
How to Use
- Place the Adept Scribe Table in your home or base.
- Research newly discovered items just like the Novice Table.
- Because of its improved mechanics, it’s especially useful when preparing multiple copies of the same item to maximize the chances of rolling high-level, desirable facets.
Tip: Always use the Adept Scribe Table once unlocked for crafting endgame gear, especially if you plan to create plagued or exalted items. For early game, the Novice Table is sufficient to research and craft your first sets of weapons and armor.
4. How to Unlock the Adept Scribe Table
To unlock the Adept Scribe Table, you must level up Maker Danos to Level 3 by completing a building project. This requires gathering specific materials and using them in the Sacrament building projects menu.
- Go to Maker Danos in Sacrament’s marketplace.
- Open Building Projects (Architecture Study).
- Select the Level 3 upgrade project — this unlocks Adept table functionality.
- Gather and deliver the required materials: 20 Spruce Planks, 10 Iron Ingots, 5 Saltstones.
5. Where to Get Scribe Table Upgrade Materials
For upgrading Danos Architecture Study to Level 3, here are all the materials you need to find.
Spruce Planks
- Farmed by chopping down spruce trees in the Nameless Pass region.
- Nameless Pass is a high‑level area unlocked during mid‑game quests.
- Mark resource nodes on your map to return later.
Iron Ingots
- Found by mining iron ore in higher‑level map regions.
- Iron ore nodes cluster around Nameless Pass and other elevated biomes.
- Collect ore and smelt it at a Furnace to convert ore into Iron Ingots.
Saltstones
- Dropped from mining iron or copper ore.
- Also found in treasure chests across high‑tier areas.
- Rarely via fishing in specific ponds in Nameless Pass or other upper-tier regions.
Farming Strategy
- Start with Spruce and Iron together in Nameless Pass to save travel time.
- While exploring, collect any Soul Stones found in the same areas.
- Place markers on all resources for repeat farming.
- Stockpile materials before attempting Danos’ Level 3 upgrade — you’ll need multiple sets for other crafting projects too.
6. How Research Works
The Scribe Table in No Rest for the Wicked allows you to unlock crafting recipes for weapons, armor, furniture, food, and other useful items. Understanding the research workflow ensures you make the most of your resources.
Research Papers
- Found as loot throughout Isola Sacra (in chests, from enemies).
- Used exclusively at the Scribe Table to unlock recipes.
- Recipes for items you’ve found cost fewer Research Papers than random category rolls.
Steps to Research an Item
- Interact with the Scribe Table next to Danos or in your house.
- Open the category for the item you want (Weapons, Armor, Furniture, Food, etc.).
- Select an item you’ve acquired — research it with 1 Research Papers.
- Random Roll for any type of item or weapon can be done for 3 Research Papers.
- Optionally choose random research within a category for a chance to unlock unknown recipes (costs more)
Tips
- Research items you already found first — it’s cheaper.
- Random research is useful for items you haven’t encountered or can’t find easily.
7. How to Craft Items
After you’ve researched a recipe:
- Go to the appropriate crafting station (Anvil, Sewing Table, Stove, Workbench, Furnace, etc.).
- Make sure you have the required materials for crafting.
- Select the item in the crafting station and craft it as many times as you want.
Crafting your Blueprints Example:
- After researching a two‑handed staff, go to an Anvil (weapon crafting station) to craft it.
- After researching a Builder’s Workbench, go to a Workbench to build it in your home or realm.
8. How to Use Scribe Table in Home
You can purchase the Scribe Table from Danos to use it in your home base. Once you purchase and place either the Novice or Adept Scribe Table in your home:
- You can research and unlock recipes by using it in your base.
- Placing the Scribe Table doesn’t automatically upgrade it — you must unlock the Adept version via Danos first.
- Use the table to prepare items before ventures or crafting sessions.
9. What to Research First
Mastering the Scribe Table isn’t just about having it — it’s about knowing what to research first and how to plan efficiently. Follow these tips to maximize your crafting potential in No Rest for the Wicked:
Storage & Crafting Stations First
Build or unlock these early for immediate benefits:
- Storage chests – expand inventory and reduce backtracking.
- Workbench – so you can craft basic items you’ve researched.
- Upgrade your crafting bench so advanced items you research can be built.
- House Scribe Table – to save time, not running back to Danos.
The earlier you unlock storage and crafting stations, the less time you waste hauling loot or traveling.
Food & Consumables
Once storage/crafting are set up:
- Unlock all food recipes you’ve found — even early staples — for meaningful buffs.
- Food buffs are useful across every fight and don’t expire once researched.
- If you haven’t found a food yet, you can random‑roll for tier 1 food recipes for 1 Research Paper to fill gaps.
Weapons & Armor
- Research the weapons you enjoy using first. This allows you to craft multiple copies and experiment with different stats or rune setups.
- Armor sets can be researched piece by piece, so prioritize helmets, chestplates, and boots that suit your preferred build.
- Example: If you love dual-wield setups, research daggers or gauntlets first to craft backups for challenging fights.
Check Vendors For Rare Items
- Check vendors daily or after upgrading their stall — stock improves and may include higher‑end items.
- Visit Finley’s secret shop from 8:00 PM until 12:00 AM — the clock is based on the real time on your pc/console. He can offer rare weapons and armor that can be hard to find otherwise.
- Use vendor purchases to fill gaps in your research categories (gear, food, utility items) so you can unlock them without doing random rolls on the Scribe Table.
