Mysteriums are side missions created by Mysterio himself. In which, you are tasked with an objective you need to complete within a specific time frame. They come in the form of green portals that are incredibly difficult to miss if you come across them. As most missions and collectibles do in Spider-Man 2, they emit a bright beacon light in the sky to help you find them more easily. Completing all challenges results in you unlocking a Mysterio boss fight which then rewards you with a unique suit for Miles. Below is each Mysterium location and their respective challenges.

What Mysterio's Mysteriums look like in Marvel's Spider-Man 2

What Mysterio’s Mysteriums look like in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Harlem – ‘Under Construction’ Mysterium

Starting off from the top left of the map and working out way towards the bottom right, the first Mysterium is called ‘Under Construction’. It is located in the Harlem district.

  • Target Condition: Defeat 20 enemies within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 1:00 or less.

Due to the extremely tight time limit, this Mysterium proves to be incredibly challenging. The key here is to perform acts and moves that knock out your enemies quickly. For example, webbing goons to walls or throwing them off platforms. Mix in some special venom attacks that focus affect more than one enemy and you’ll beat this challenge more easily. Another good tip would be to avoid finishers or environmental attacks as they oftentimes take too long to perform.

Upper East Side – ‘Everyone’s A Critic’ Mysterium

Next up we have a Mysterium that goes by the name ‘Everyone’s A Critic’ located in the Upper East Side district. It is the first of two Upper East Side Mysteriums, each relatively close to one another.

'Everybody's A Critic' Mysterium located in the Upper East Side district

‘Everybody’s A Critic’ Mysterium located in the Upper East Side district

  • Target Condition: Defeat 30 enemies within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 1:45 or less.

Despite the amount of enemies you need to defeat increases, this Mysterium grants you a lot more time to work with than the previous one. Not only that but the main ‘danger’ of the challenge can actually be used to your benefit. Every now and then a danger zone will appear on the floor indicating Mysterio’s hand will attack. Using Web-Grabber or simply yoinking enemies into the danger zone before ultimately fleeing will result in them getting damaged by Mysterio’s hand.

There’s not much to look out for except Mysterio’s fist and the map changing mid-challenge. You’ll be able to beat this challenge fairly easily with barely any trouble. If you’re looking for a quick getaway out of the danger zone, simply press the triangle button to Web-Strike enemies that reside outside of the danger zone, taking you to their location.

Upper East Side – ‘Prison Break’ Mysterium

Also located in the Upper East Side district, this Mysterium is a bit more complicated than the previous one. However, it is still pretty easy to complete once you understand the gist of it.

  • Target Condition: Defeat 20 enemies within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 2:15 or less.

With a lot of time on your side, this challenge shouldn’t be too difficult to complete. Yet, what makes this challenge a bit jarring is Mysterio’s presence and how he appears every now and then to shield the enemies. At first, this can be a bit annoying but dealing with him is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is Web-Strike him by pressing Triangle once he appears then immediately follow it up with a finisher. Simply rinse and repeat this technique every time he appears and you’ll be done in no time.

Midtown – ‘The Invisible Enemy’ Mysterium

This Mysterium involves you dealing with enemies that turn invisible, requiring you to use a specific amount of finishers on them before the time limit ends. It is located in the Midtown district.

  • Target Condition: Perform 6 finishers within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 2:10 or less.

Seeing as how getting up close and personal with invisible enemies sounds extremely unappealing, the best option is to keep things elevated. By keeping your distance and attacking mostly in the air, your enemies can’t really get the drop on you. On top of that, ranged attacks are easier to dodge due to the intensity of their incoming attack alert indicators. This Mysterium also provides you with more than enough time to complete the task at hand so it’s quite easy to get Gold.

Downtown Queens – ‘Punch Your Ticket’ Mysterium

Located in the Downtown Queens district, you’ll find this Mysterium to be a bit different than the others so far. Instead of fighting normal enemies, your goal here is to face off against Brutes.

'Punch Your Ticket' Mysterium located in the Downtown Queens district

‘Punch Your Ticket’ Mysterium located in the Downtown Queens district

  • Target Condition: Defeat 6 Brutes within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 2:00 or less.

This challenge involves you defeating 6 Brutes before the time limit expires. Luckily, environmental hazards can be used to your advantage. Every now and then, trains will pass by, knocking out anyone in their path. As a result, you are able to lure Brutes in front of the trains to take advantage of this mechanic. Ultimately, you can easily beat the Mysterium without this method, but having trains run over Brutes is definitely much more entertaining.

Chinatown – ‘Fight On Time’ Mysterium

This Mysterium is located in the Chinatown district and is a pretty easy one to complete. The objective is straightforward and the time limit is more than generous.

  • Target Condition: Perform 6 finishers within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 3:30 or less.

Realistically, you should have no problems performing six finishers within three minutes. The real threat here is the laser that targets you periodically. In order to avoid it, you should focus on fighting in the air. This is because dodging lasers whilst in the air is infinitely easier than on the ground. Keeping an eye out for the laser and dodging accordingly will help you beat this challenge quickly.

Williamsburg – ‘Road Rage’ Mysterium

The first of two Mysteriums located in the Williamsburg location, this challenge is a bit more difficult than the rest. This is due to its crowded environment, full of enemies and cars that can damage you.

  • Target Condition: Defeat 20 enemies without taking damage.
  • Gold Condition: Do not take any damage.

At first glance, this challenge seems extremely difficult. However, you play as Spider-Man who literally has a Spider-Sense that is dedicated to avoiding getting hit. Therefore, we’re pretty sure that you can coast through. The main thing to watch out for here is the speeding vehicles as getting hit by them fails the challenge. Similar to the trains in the ‘Punch Your Ticket’ Mysterium, the cars can knock out your enemies as well. Taking out any gunmen that inflict damage from afar should be the first step in your strategy as you can easily get hit with a stray bullet even after dodging. After doing so, make sure not to get greedy with your punches and dodge accordingly.

Williamsburg – ‘Grave Decision’ Mysterium

The second Mysterium is located in Williamsburg and has a challenge that is relatively more difficult than the previous one.

  • Target Condition: Defeat 3 rounds of enemies without taking damage.
  • Gold Condition: Do not take any damage.

It is worth noting that you can technically get hit and complete the challenge as Bronze but you will miss out on getting Gold. If you’re a winner and only want to aim high, then you must survive three full rounds of enemies without taking a single hit. Not only that, but you’ll also be greeted by Mysterio who has a few attacks that can mess up your flow. One of which is a skull that you can sling back at him and the other is a laser attack that is difficult to deal with. All in all, dealing with Mysterio is the same as before, simply press Triangle to Web-Strike him when he appears and follow it up with a finisher.

Downtown Brooklyn – ‘Fear of Heights’ Mysterium

The final Mysterium is located in Downtown Brooklyn and is the last step before unlocking the boss fight against Mysterio.

'Fear of Heights' Mysterium located in the Downtown Brooklyn district

‘Fear of Heights’ Mysterium located in the Downtown Brooklyn district

  • Target Condition: Knock 15 enemies off the map within the time limit.
  • Gold Condition: Complete in 1:30 or less.

Arguably one of the easiest, if not the easiest, Mysteriums available, your goal is to knock 15 enemies off the map. This is fairly simple as all you have to do is leap off the edge, yoink enemies towards you using Triangle, and then swing back to safety. You can also perform attacks that kick or launch your enemies away, throwing them off the map. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to complete this challenge extremely quickly.

Downtown Brooklyn – Mysterio Boss Fight Encounter

Only available upon completing all of the Mysteriums, the Mysterio boss fight is located in the Downtown Brooklyn district inside of Coney Island.

This multi-stage boss fight involves you defeating enemies, false Mysterios, and traversing through an obstacle course of sorts. A lot of this battle requires you to be in the air and have solid web-traversal skills. As a result, make sure you’re prepared by investing in relevant skills in the skill tree. Regardless, this battle is pretty simple, granting you plenty of time to soak in the amazing visuals all around you. After beating Mysterio, you’ll unlock the unique Smoke and Mirrors suit for Miles Morales. That and you’ll be one step closer to 100% completion and that illustrious platinum trophy. Peter Parker would be proud.
