Manor Lords isn’t your typical city builder, where you keep assigning your city dwellers to work in hopes of continuously expanding your settlement. Several factors are at play for your medieval town to flourish. One of the major ones is making sure there is no lack of entertainment for your peasants. Besides ensuring food supply and shelter, you also have to make sure they are enjoying their stay at your settlement.
Lack of entertainment may seem like a trivial factor, but once you start upgrading your burgage plots, the workers will start expressing their dissatisfaction. You will even start losing approval rating and production rate. The answer to keeping the commoners happy lies in a well-supplied tavern. A good mug of ale is all they need to make them forget about their long day. Let’s talk you through the process.

What is Lack of Entertainment
Once you have established a good foundation for your town, you look towards expanding it. But hastily upgrading settlements and crafting new buildings without making a sustainable condition for them will only cause you future problems in Manor Lords. One such example is the lack of ale production and supply.
Once you upgrade your burgage plots to levels 2 and 3, you will need a constant supply of ale in your tavern. Without the ale supply in the tavern, the citizens become unhappy. As a result, you encounter the “lack of entertainment” message.
Best Ways to Fix Lack of Entertainment
You have to ensure the tavern is full of ale for the citizens to have a fun evening. The ale-making process takes place in several steps, so let me start with the first one:
Buy or Cultivate Barley
The core ingredient for making ale is barley. There are two ways to get hands on the ingredient, and the easiest one is to buy it from the trading post in Manor Lords. If you are not short on Regional Wealth, than you can use it to buy it directly from the Trading post.
But buying barley may not be a viable option for the long run. So the best option here is to cultivate it. Select a fertile field through the Farmhouse and start producing the crop, setting the priority to high. Also, keep the Crop Rotation option on.
Harvest Malt from Barley
The next step includes malting the barley and preparing it for the brewing process. For this, you will need a Malthouse. It will cost you three timbers if you already haven’t built one. Choose a place close to the field and build one. The closer the building is to the fields, the less time it will take for the workers to transport the barley. Assign families to the malthouse and start malting.
Start Brewing the Malt
The final step to making ale includes brewing the malt you have already produced. Brewing is done by the families in their houses, so you will need to make extensions on some Burgage plots. You will find the brewery extension option on Level 2 and 3 Burgage plots. Each extension will cost you 5x Planks and 5 Regional Wealth. Also, remember to make extensions on plots that are close to the Malthouse.
Indulge your Peasants with Ale
This is pretty much all you need to do to fix the Lack of Entertainment issue in Manor Lords. Following the above process will make sure your tavern is well supplied with ale. As a result, you will have a town that is happy and content with your lordship.
As long as you make sure you have a constant surplus of ale, then you shouldn’t see the dreaded Lack of Entertainment status creeping up on you, saving you from the negative effects that comes with it. Just remember that once your burgage is level 2, or 3 at the latest, you should already be working on the above method.
