He hands you some stale wine to drink, and once you do, he’ll task you with finding a special book and impressing a tavern keeper. How to Start In Vino Veritas in Kingdom Come Deliverance II

To start the quest, head to your quest log and locate the In Vino Veritas quest. This will then cause a pointer to appear in your map. 

1. Find Casper Rudolf in Kuttenburg and talk to him.
2. Drink the stale wine (there’s no way to skip this).
3. Casper gives you two tasks:
   • Find a special book.
   • Impress Havel, the tavern keeper.

How to Steal the Book in In Vino Veritas

You need to find a specific woman in town to obtain the book. You can either talk past an NPC during the day or break into a house at night to steal it.

Daytime Approach

1. Locate the woman (check your map for her location).
2. She’s guarded by an NPC who won’t let you speak to her.
3. Choose one of the following options:
   • Convince the guard to let you through.
   • Use the “Talk to your sister” dialogue option (recommended).
4. If you prefer a stealthy route, pickpocket her.
5. Save your game before attempting any risky actions!

Nighttime Approach (Recommended)

At night, the woman moves to the weaponsmith’s house. Here, you must follow a series of steps to essentially obtain the book easier as compared to the day time approach.

1. Sneak in through the blacksmith’s entrance at the back (safest route).
2. The doors have Hard to Very Hard locks, so instead:
   • Steal the blacksmith’s keys (he’s inside—check the map).
   • Remove your armor before lockpicking to reduce noise.
3. Fast forward the time to around 3 AM when there are fewer guards.
4. Go upstairs and take the door on your right.
5. Pickpocket the red book from the sleeping woman.
6. Read the book (updates the quest) and return to Casper.

How to Impress Havel the Tavern Keeper

To increase your chances of impressing Havel, you must have charisma. Wear charisma-boosting clothing (buy from a tailor if needed).

Tailor

1. Head to the tavern and talk to Havel while wearing your finest outfit.
2. During the conversation, learn about the Monastery’s Secret.
3. Return to Casper and share what you found.
4. Give him the book to move the quest forward.

Getting a Job at the Vineyard

Getting a job at the Vineyard is essential for progressing the In Vino Veritas quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance II. You need 2 key items, Sulphur wicks, and Seedlings in a Monastery at the Vineyard. 

1. Check your map for the next quest marker.
2. Go to the vineyard and talk to an NPC that is offering you a job.
3. He tells you to speak to Custodian Jerome
4. Speaking to Custodian Jerome will allow you to do a series of more steps.
5. You can skip this part by robbing Jerome instead and cutting the chase. 

How to Steal the Monastery’s Secret (Shortcut)

Instead of completing tedious tasks, you can pickpocket Administrator Jerome to gain direct access to the Monastery.

1. Find Jerome in the vineyard.
2. Wait until he’s alone before attempting anything.
3. Pickpocket and steal his keys.

Breaking into the Monastery

1. Go to the Monastery (right of Jerome’s location).
2. Enter the building and turn left toward the wine cellar.
3. Use Jerome’s keys to unlock doors and go deeper inside.

Finding the Sulphur Wicks

To get the Sulphur Wicks inside the monastery, keep moving forward until you reach a dead end.

Open the chest and grab the Sulphur Wicks.

Gathering the Seedlings

To gather the 5 required seedlings, head to the garden (right side of the wine cellar).

1. Collect 5 seedlings.
2. Return to Casper Rudolf with everything in hand.
3. Hand over the Sulphur Wicks and Seedlings to Casper.
