Nades are grenades in video gaming terminology, and utilizing them more effectively can give you an edge in Counter-Strike 2. Many CS2 beginners probably overlook grenades because most kills are inflicted with guns. However, tossing high-explosive, smoke, Molotov, decoy, and flash grenades can significantly impact the outcome of rounds when done effectively. Aside from inflicting damage, you can utilize nades to obscure vision, temporarily stun, and confuse opponents. So, it’s worth setting aside some time to practice grenade throwing. This is how you can practice throwing CS2 nades in Counter-Strike 2.

How to Practice CS2 Nades on Standard Maps
Counter-Strike 2 includes a Practice mode that enables players to play against bots on standard maps. This game mode provides a suitable arena to practice throwing and killing enemies with CS2 nades. However, it’s best to configure the practice mode for grenade throwing.
To start a practice session for CS2 nades, launch Counter-Strike 2 and select Play. Click Practice > Casual to view map selection. Turn on the Grenade Camera and Infinite Ammo options on the left map selection. Press Go to start your practice session. Then you can start lobbing CS2 nades at bots to your heart’s content!
Turning on the Grenade Camera option activates a small window that shows the trajectory and landing point of your CS2 nades when you chuck grenades in your practice. It effectively shows where your grenades land after chucking them, enabling you to see the results of your grenade throws. The Infinite Ammo setting selected gives you unlimited gun bullets and grenades for your practice rounds.
You can configure your practice sessions for CS2 nades much more extensively with the command console. To do so, click the Settings menu and select Yes for the Enable Developer Console setting on the Game tab. Press the ` to activate the console, input sv_cheats 1, and press Enter. The sv_cheats 1 command enables cheats for your practice mode. These are some handy cheat commands for customizing your grenade practice:
- give weapon_hegrenade: Gives you free explosive grenades
- give weapon_molotov: Gives you free Molotov grenades
- give weapon_decoy: Gives you free decoy grenades
- give weapon_smokegrenade: Gives you free decoy grenades
- mp_roundtime_defuse 60: Sets a 60-minute bomb defusal time
- sv_regeneration_force_on true: Enables your health to regenerate
- endround: Ends current round
- mp_buy_anywhere 1: Enables purchasing of weapons anywhere on a map
You can execute these commands before you start a practice session for CS2 nades or during it. Alternatively, you can create a CS2 config file that executes multiple commands in it when run. Doing this will save you from manually executing the commands for every practice session. Check out our guide to setting up a CS2 config file that provides instructions for how to create one.
How to Practice CS2 Nades With Workshop Maps
However, chucking CS2 nades at bots won’t show what the best Counter-Strike 2 grenade lineups on maps are. If you want to see and practice some of the best lineups for grenade throws, check out the Mirage Utility map. That’s a workshop map that shows you the best CS2 nade lineups for Mirage and enables you to practice them. This is how you can add the Mirage Utility map to CS2 and select to play it.
- Open this Mirage Utility page on Steam.
- Click Subscribe to add the map.
- Start Steam and your Counter-Strike 2 game.
- Click Play and select Workshop Maps.
- Next, click Mirage Utility to select it.
- Press Go to enter the workshop map.
You will now enter a Mirage map that includes numerous dummies for highlighting the start positions of the best CS2 nade lineups. Those dummies are color-coded green for smoke, red for Molotov or explosive, blue for mixed combo, and yellow for flash grenade throws.
To practice a throw, walk up to a dummy and press E. You will then see a round target for aiming the grenade throw from a set position. Throw your grenade toward the target to practice the throw. You’ll also see where your CS2 nades land because this map has the grenade camera enabled.
There are also a couple of similar grenade practice maps for Vertigo and Inferno. Open the Inferno Utility and Vertigo Utility pages from which to download them. Click Subscribe on their pages to add them to your workshop map collection alongside Mirage Utility.
