How to Increase Inventory Space in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert gives you 50 starting inventory slots, but the world of Pywel fills them fast. Here is every way to get more inventory bags, from vendor purchases to quest rewards and story milestones.

How to Increase Inventory Space in Crimson DesertRunning out of Inventory space is one of the first real problems you will hit in Crimson Desert. The world of Pywel is packed with weapons, armor, crafting materials, and collectibles, and your default inventory fills up faster than you might expect. Expanding your slots early and knowing where to find every bag makes the difference between smooth exploration and constant item juggling.

This guide will detail how to increase your Inventory space in Crimson Desert so that you’ll be able to slot more items as you traverse through the vast lands of Pywel easily.

1. How the Inventory System Works in Crimson Desert

Before hunting for more space, it helps to understand how Crimson Desert handles inventory at a fundamental level. The game does not use a weight system. Every item you pick up occupies a slot, so the total number of slots you have is all that matters.

You start the game as Kliff with 50 inventory slots. Stackable items like ammo, crafting materials, and food all share a single slot regardless of quantity. Non-stackable items, such as collectibles and equipment, each take their own slot, which is where inventory pressure builds up quickly.

2. How to Get More Inventory Bags

The only way to increase your inventory in Crimson Desert is by collecting Inventory Bags. These items permanently add slots the moment you obtain them, so every bag you find is a meaningful upgrade worth pursuing.

There are three bag sizes available:

  • Small Bag: +1 inventory slot
  • Medium Bag: +3 inventory slots
  • Large Bag: +5 inventory slots

The bags can be obtained in two main ways: purchasing them from vendors or earning them through quests. Each method has its own advantages depending on where you are in the story.

Buy Small Bags from Vendors

The fastest early-game method is purchasing Small Bags directly from vendors across Hernand. Several shops stock them, including the Provisioner’s Shop run by Alden, the Butchery run by Renee, and the Grocer’s Shop run by Delkin. Each Small Bag costs 50 Copper and adds one slot instantly.

Keep in mind that each vendor will only sell you one bag. Once their stock is gone, it will not restock. Make a habit of checking every new vendor you discover on the map, even in smaller settlements, to collect as many Small Bags as possible.

Complete Quests and Commissions for Medium Bags

Medium Bags are the most impactful and repeatable upgrade source throughout the mid-game. These are earned by completing side quests, Commissions, and Faction Quests across the world.

A few early-game quests confirmed to reward Medium Bags include Renee’s Request, Rhett’s Request, and Turnali’s Request. Once you progress to Chapter 3 and establish the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill, NPC Marius will send you to recruit other Greymane survivors. These recruits bring their own commissions, and completing all of them can net you 60 or more additional inventory slots.

To check if a quest rewards a bag before completing it, open the Journal tab, hover over an accepted quest, and look at the listed rewards. The Journal reliably highlights if any Inventory Bag is included in the payout.

Reach Story Milestones for Large Bags

Large Bags are the rarest upgrade available and cannot be farmed on demand. They are tied directly to story progression milestones, such as expanding the Greymane Camp or unlocking new playable characters. A handful of main story quests reward Large Bags as well.

These bags are not a reliable grind target, but they provide a meaningful jump whenever the story hands them out. Prioritizing quest completion and camp expansion will naturally earn you every Large Bag over time.

3. How to Store Items in Crimson Desert

Outside of your inventory, Crimson Desert has very limited storage options. There is no town stash or shared bank system at launch. That said, there are two ways to hold onto items you are not ready to discard.

Personal Storage at Howling Hill Camp

Once you unlock the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill during Chapter 3, a Private Storage chest becomes accessible inside your tent, just beside the beds. This chest accepts food, loot, and equipment, including legendary gear you want to hold onto without clogging your active inventory.

Using Vendors as Temporary Storage

A secondary trick involves using vendors as short-term holders of items. If you sell an item to a vendor, they will retain it for seven in-game days. You can repurchase it during that window at the original price.

This method works in a pinch but carries real risk. Missing the window means the item is permanently gone. Use it only for low-value items you are fairly confident you will retrieve quickly.

4. Best Tips for Inventory Management

Good inventory habits matter just as much as raw slot count, especially in the early game before you have accumulated many bags. Keeping your inventory lean saves you from scrambling mid-adventure.

A few practices that make a noticeable difference:

  • Sell often: Do not hold onto items hoping to use them later. Selling regularly keeps slots free for what actually matters.
  • Watch your collectibles: Insects, artifacts, and similar collectibles do not stack. Pick them up deliberately rather than out of habit.
  • Prioritize stackable loot: When looting in a pinch, stackable items like crafting materials and consumables are far more efficient than single-slot pickups.
  • Check every vendor: Since each vendor sells only one Small Bag, sweeping through every settlement as you explore is the fastest way to compound your early slot count.
