In High on Life 2, the Wiz James Stevenson bounty is a multi‑stage mission that blends traversal puzzles, environmental challenges, NPC interactions, and a unique boss fight that can’t be won with standard weapons. This is the third main campaign bounty, and you will get it after completing Senator Muppy Doo’s bounty.
1. Go to James Stevenson’s Penthouse
Reaching the penthouse is your first major obstacle, as the main entrance and elevator are blocked. You must locate an alternate path using traversal abilities and environmental interactions.
1.1 Locate the Penthouse Building
- Track the bounty in Arcadia and head toward the City Plaza.
- Use the Info Scanner and your map to locate the penthouse building.
- When you arrive, you’ll find the main door locked and the elevator on the left disabled.
2. Climb the Plant Bulbs (Green Flowers)
With the penthouse inaccessible, you must climb upward by manipulating the environment and activating plant platforms.
2.1 Lift the Truck
- Head left from the entrance and locate a truck.
- Use Travis’s Glob Shot to levitate the truck.
- Jump onto the nearby mattress to gain height and reach the upper ledge.
2.2 Reach the Upper Platforms
- Follow the path forward until you hit a dead end.
- Climb the wall on the right side to reach the upper floor.
- Hit the button here to rotate the sprinkler system.
2.3 Activate Plant Platforms
- Use your skateboard to clear the wall on the opposite side.
- Shoot nearby green plant bulbs to spawn temporary platforms.
- Use Sweezy’s Time Bubble to slow a fan and pass through safely.
- Continue shooting all plant bulbs in the courtyard to unlock the route upward.
3. Find an Alternate Path to the Penthouse
You need to manipulate parts of the environment to unlock new paths. This section focuses on chaining together traversal tools and environmental interactions to keep climbing.
3.1 Clear the Ramp Block
- Grab Pesos by breaking the nearby Luglox.
- The ramp ahead can’t be climbed normally — use the skateboard to gain speed.
- Jump onto the left ledge, then turn and leap to the next platform.
3.2 Activate Sprinklers and Platforms
- Locate another rotating sprinkler and shoot nearby green flowers.
- Enter the next room and press the button to activate another sprinkler.
- Use the Lugblob to cross a gap and slow a fan using Time Bubble.
3.3 Reach the Upper Ledge
- Shoot the green flower near the sprinkler to create a platform.
- Use Gus’s wall-creation ability to climb higher.
- Continue forward to access the upper courtyard.
4. Courtyard Puzzle
After getting inside the courtyard, you will find a spinning fan, amps, and multiple junctions. Create a connection between the junctions and amps to connect the sparking junction.
4.1 Cross the Fan Section
- Use Sweezy’s Time Bubble to slow the spinning fan.
- Collect the Lugblob from behind the column.
- Place it beneath the window near the fan.
4.2 Connect the Power
- Connect amps and junctions using Sheath’s electric spike.
- Power the sparking junction to unlock the door.
- Rotate the sprinkler once inside and grapple with the opposite side.
5. Search Clues in James Stevenson’s Penthouse
With puzzles solved and bridges active, the penthouse entrance becomes accessible. Solve the two giant paintings puzzle after getting inside James Stevenson’s Penthouse. Enter through the now-open doorway to begin the interior puzzle sequence before the boss fight.
5.1 Activate the Paintings
- Move to the right side and interact with the phone.
- Enter the first painting and retrieve the book from the bathroom rack.
- Return through the painting.
5.2 Retrieve the Second Book
- Enter the second painting and exhaust dialogue with the NPC.
- Collect the second book from the table.
5.3 Unlock the Hidden Path
- Place both books on the bookshelf near the firepit.
- A third painting appears — enter it to continue.
6. Get Inside Prisemeria
After exiting the penthouse through the final painting, the mission transitions into Prisemeria, a dark traversal and combat zone that leads directly toward James Stevenson’s execution site.
6.1 Enter the Dark Cave
- The Prisemeria sequence begins immediately after the painting puzzle.
- Pass through the third and final painting inside the penthouse.
- Continue moving straight until you reach a dark cave entrance.
6.2 Clear Enemies and Rescue Apples
- Move through the cave and defeat all enemies along the path
- After clearing the area, you encounter Apples, who is trapped nearby
- Eliminate remaining enemies to fully free Apples
6.3 Speak With Apples
- Approach Apples once the area is clear
- Interact and exhaust all dialogue options
- Follow Apples to get out of the darkness. The correct route is: Right path, then Left path, where you encounter Apples agai
7. Move Into the Execution Area
After entering Prisemeria, the mission shifts into a traversal-heavy sequence that leads directly to the execution zone. This section combines river platforming, enemy encounters, and ability-based traversal using Sweezy, Gus, and Sheath to reach the area where James Stevenson is forced out of hiding.
7.1 Cross the River Using Time Bubble
- Approach the river and activate Sweezy’s Time Bubble
- Slow down the moving logs to create stable platforms
- Jump across the logs while the time effect is active
- Eliminate any enemies encountered while crossing
7.2 Reach the Upper Platform
- Use the Lugblob movement ability to reach the upper platform
- Collect the Luglox found along the path for extra currency
- Jump forward to pass through the waterfall opening
- Activate Sweezy’s Time Bubble again to slow additional moving logs
- Defeat enemies while advancing through the slowed platforms
- Use Sheath’s traversal ability to cross the first waterfall section
- Follow up with Gus’s ability to push forward across the next gap
7.4 Interact With the Guard
- Approach the guard at the end of the route
- Exhaust all dialogue options — any choice works
- Choose to trust Apples, which affects later story interactions
7.5 Enter the Execution Zone
- Follow the objective tracker into the town section
- Search nearby shelters to locate hidden Luglox
- Use Gus’s ability on the generator near the execution area to unlock the door
- Proceed inside to trigger the next major story event
8. Stop the Execution
After navigating the maze and platforming sections, you arrive in a city execution area where a public execution is about to take place. To progress the story and draw James Stevenson out, you must interrupt the event by interacting with key NPCs, then force your way forward using Bowie’s abilities.
8.1 Identify the Execution Supporters
The execution is being encouraged by three different NPCs holding signs.
- Move into the execution square and locate three citizens actively supporting the execution
- Each NPC must be interacted with individually to progress the objective
8.2 Convince the Three Citizens
Speak to each citizen and fully exhaust their dialogue. Use the following dialogue paths:
- First citizen: Choose “What about court?”
- Second citizen: Choose “I love it very much” → “You meant it”
- Third citizen: Choose “We’re here to stop it” → “They’re a Gatlian, like me”
Even if persuasion fails, the objective still progresses.
9. Free Bowie
Once the confrontation ends, Bowie becomes accessible. Free Bowie manually, regardless of the persuasion outcome. This action unlocks Bowie’s abilities for the upcoming traversal section.
9.1 Push Through the Blocked Path
- Follow the objective tracker across platforms
- Defeat all ghouls blocking the way
- Use Bowie’s ability to shoot the strange markings that block paths
9.2 Reach the Blue Wizard’s Castle
Continue toward the Blue Wizard’s Castle. Use Bowie’s ability on the strange marks located on:
- The top-left side of the gate
- The top-right side of the gate
Destroying both markings opens the gate and leads to the final confrontation area with James Stevenson.
10. Eliminate James Stevenson
The fight against James Stevenson is a mechanic-driven boss encounter where standard weapons are ineffective. To damage him, you must rely on Bowie’s Soul Hole ability, which reveals hidden weak points that can only be hit through portals.
10.1 Use Bowie’s Soul Hole to Reveal Weak Points
- Activate Bowie’s Soul Hole ability
- Look through the portal to reveal glowing weak-point sigils on Stevenson
- These sigils are only visible through the portal
- Line up your shots through the Soul Hole, not directly at Stevenson
10.2 Damage Stevenson Through the Portal
- Shoot through the Soul Hole to hit the glowing sigils
- The weak points shift position, forcing you to: Reposition Bowie and create new Soul Holes when needed
- Use Gus to deliver burst damage through the portal when openings appear
10.3 Survive the Aggressive Phase
At roughly 50% health, Stevenson enters a more dangerous phase. Attack speed increases, but no new attack patterns are introduced.
- Focus on Dodging first and re-placing Soul Holes during safe windows
- Use the pillars in the arena as cover to block incoming attacks
After defeating James Stevenson, multiple characters begin knocking at the door. Apples arrive and offer to take the blame, depending on your earlier choices, and this finishes the bounty mission.
