Fishing is an optional collectible side activity in High on Life 2 and is not required to complete the main story. Fishing lets you catch unique fish and special items that are permanently displayed in the Quarters Aquarium back at your base, making it a completionist-focused activity.
To fish, you must first obtain the Fishing Rod, which is unlocked early in the game through a short side interaction.
1. How To Fish in High on Life 2

Fishing in High on Life 2 is straightforward but uses a small skill-based timing mechanic that varies depending on the fish you’re trying to catch. Once you have the Fishing Rod:
- Stand near a designated fishing spot where the interactive prompt appears beside calm water.
- Press the fishing button to cast your line, just like you normally would. Fish don’t always bite instantly, so patience is required.
- You must tap the reel button in a specific rhythm. Some fish prefer slow, steady taps, while others respond to quick double-taps.
- After hooking a fish, keep the fish inside a target circle on the screen.
- Move in the opposite direction the fish pulls to maintain control and prevent losing it.
Fish with a gold glow are unique catches you haven’t collected yet. Catching all unique fish across all fishing spots is required to fully fill the Quarters Aquarium.
2. How To Get a Fishing Rod
Before you can fish anywhere, you must first unlock the Fishing Rod. Conveniently, the first fishing spot is located right next to where you receive it. Steps to unlock the Fishing Rod:
- Progress through the main story until you unlock Travis as a usable gun.
- Travel to the beach area in PinkLine Harbor.
- Look for an NPC standing near the shore beside a stuck boat.
- Use Travis’s special ability to lift the stuck boat out of the water.
- Speak to the NPC again after freeing the boat.
- The NPC rewards you with the Fishing Rod.

3. All Fishing Spots in High on Life 2
There are 8 total fishing spots scattered across the game world, spanning regions such as PinkLine Harbor, Circuit Arcadia, and the Zoo. Each fishing spot grants unique fish, meaning you’ll need to visit all locations to fully complete the aquarium.
3.1 Beach Fishing Spot

The Beach Fishing Spot is located right next to where you receive the Fishing Rod, making it the first and most natural place to start fishing. Stand close to the shoreline and watch for the interactive fishing prompt near calm water. Cast your line once the prompt appears.
This spot is ideal for learning the reeling patterns, timing taps correctly, and understanding how fish movement works. Perfect for catching your first fish and getting comfortable with the fishing mechanics before moving on to harder locations. Because of its easy access and calm conditions, this is the best beginner-friendly fishing spot in the game.
3.2 Little Island Fishing Spot

The Little Island Fishing Spot is located just off the shoreline near the main beach in PinkLine Harbor. This is the same area where you obtain the Fishing Rod, making it one of the earliest and easiest fishing spots to reach once fishing is unlocked.
- Look for a small island just off the coast, clearly visible a short distance away from the beach.
- Walk or skate across the shallow water toward the island—no special abilities are required.
- Once you reach the island, move to the edge of the land where it meets the water.
- Stand close to the water until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Cast your line outward into the water from the island’s edge to begin fishing.
3.3 Pier under the Cruise Ship Fishing Spot

The Pier Under the Cruise Ship Fishing Spot is one of the easiest spots to miss in PinkLine Harbor because it’s not on the dock itself. Instead, it’s hidden beneath the pier, directly under the large cruise ship docked at the beach. If you’re standing on top of the dock, you need to look below.
- Travel to the PinkLine Harbor beach area and locate the large cruise ship docked along the shoreline.
- Walk toward the dock connected to the cruise ship, but do not stay on top of the pier.
- Look for an opening, ramp, or support beam that allows you to move underneath the dock.
- Drop down or walk around the wooden or metal beams supporting the pier.
- Once underneath, head into the shaded area beneath the cruise ship.
- Stand close to the water’s edge under the pier until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Cast your line from this position to start fishing.
3.4 Riverside’s Circuit Arcadia Fishing Spot

The Riverside Fishing Spot is one of the two fishing locations found in Circuit Arcadia. It’s positioned along a river that runs through the district and is not far from the fast-travel point, making it easy to reach once the area is unlocked.
- Use fast travel to enter Circuit Arcadia, or arrive there naturally through story progression.
- From the fast-travel point, move toward the central part of the district.
- Look for the river that cuts through the area—this is the key landmark for this fishing spot.
- Follow the riverbank until you find a section of calm, slow-moving water.
- Stand close to the water’s edge until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Cast your line once the prompt shows to begin fishing.
NOTE: Be aware that a riverboat periodically passes through this section of the river, which can briefly disrupt your fishing attempt. If this happens, simply wait for it to pass and try again.
3.5 Rhea Pharmaceuticals Fishing Spot

The Rhea Pharmaceuticals Fishing Spot is the second fishing location in Circuit Arcadia. Unlike the Riverside spot, this one is found in a small, calm pool of water rather than a flowing river, making it easy to identify once you’re in the right place.
- Travel into Circuit Arcadia and navigate toward the Rhea Pharmaceuticals section of the district.
- Locate the staircase positioned near the Rhea Pharmaceuticals building.
- Walk down the staircase toward the lower level.
- At the bottom of the stairs, look for a small pool of calm water along the edge.
- Move close to the water until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Cast your rod while standing beside the pool to start fishing.
3.6 Center of the map Fishing Spot

The Center of the Map Fishing Spot is located in the middle of the Zoo area in High on Life 2. This fishing spot is positioned along paths you naturally pass through while completing other objectives, making it easy to reach during normal exploration.
- Travel to the Zoo region during or after the related story missions.
- Begin exploring toward the central portion of the Zoo map, following the main walkways and paths.
- As you move through the center, look for a water edge or small body of water near the paths.
- Approach the water until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Stand at the edge of the water and cast your line to begin fishing.
3.7 Big Zoo Aquarium Fishing Spot

The Big Zoo Aquarium Fishing Spot is located inside the large aquarium structure within the Zoo. Fishing here can yield special fish or even trigger Ball Guy variants, making it a unique spot for completionists.
- Travel to the Zoo region via fast travel or normal exploration.
- Locate the large aquarium building—an enclosed structure with visible water inside.
- Enter the aquarium through the main entrance.
- Explore the interior until you find the water inside the aquarium.
- Approach the water’s edge until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Cast your line from inside the aquarium to start fishing and collect unique items.
3.8 Skate Bowl Fishing Spot

The Skate Bowl Fishing Spot is located in the Zoo area of High on Life 2. It functions like a standard fishing location, but due to the terrain, you may need to adjust your casting angle so the line lands in the water rather than on rocks.
- Travel to the Zoo via fast travel or normal exploration.
- Head toward the Skate Bowl area within the Zoo. Look for a large open bowl or skate park structure surrounded by water.
- Move along the water’s edge beside the Skate Bowl until the interactive fishing prompt appears.
- Position yourself carefully so your cast lands in the water instead of hitting rocks or shallow edges.
- Once the prompt appears, cast your line to begin fishing.
