HELLDIVERS 2 | Best Farm for Easy Medals, Requisition Slips and XP

Medals are one of the most important resources in HELLDIVERS 2 because they allow you to purchase new equipment from both the free and premium Warbonds. This equipment includes new sets of armour to help round out your builds, new weapons to help thin the hoards and distribute democracy more efficiently, new cosmetic options for your banner and even free Super Credits. In addition to Medals, there are also Requisition Slips, which are used to buy new Stratagems, and XP, which is used to level up, two more vital resources that you’ll need to collect plenty of in your war for liberty.

Of course, these resources will all trickle down to you naturally as you complete missions, accomplish orders and slay the foes of Super Earth. However, if you’ve been eying that SG225 Breaker in the Warbond or want to get your hands on that Eagle 500KG Bomb as soon as possible, there are ways to quickly obtain a lot of Medals, Slips and XP. If you need a sharp injection of funds to help

The best way to farm Medals, Requisition Slips and XP in HELLDIVERS 2 is to repeatedly run Eradication Missions within Operations. Eradication Ops are one of the many mission types in HD2 and, as the name suggests, they are straightforward kill missions. Both the Terminids and Automatons have their form of Eradication missions, with the former appearing on the map as two curling spikes within a crosshair while the latter will appear as a four-sided star within a crosshair.

In Eradication Missions, you typically have you defend a small chunk of land against endless waves of Automatons or Bugs, with the mission only ending after you kill a certain amount of adversaries. Generally, you’ll have a total of 15 minutes to kill between 150 and 300+ opponents, after which you must evacuate to obtain all available rewards.

Compared to most other missions in HELLDIVERS 2, Eradication missions are very quick to complete on account of their smaller map sizes and straightforward objectives that you can accelerate by simply slaying out. Competent teams are looking at sub-5-minute runs, even on the hardest difficulties, making these a prime pick for your farming needs, especially because of how well they can pay out.

Speaking of, the amount of rewards and resources you’ll receive depends on the difficulty you choose for the mission. At difficulty 5 (Hard), a successful run will net you 4 Medals, 2000 Requisition Slips and 400 XP. That increases to 5 Medals at difficulty 6 (Extreme), which eventually goes up to 8 Medals at Helldiver difficulty. If you’re consistently clearing Extreme difficulty Eradication Ops, you’re looking at over 60 Medals an hour, which will only increase as you level up and gain more equipment from the Warbond.

Thankfully, Eradication missions are incredibly easy to farm, too. Once one mission ends and you receive your stipend of Medals, Slips and XP, go back to the War Table and see if there are any other Eradication missions in your current Operation. If there is, select it and go again for even more Medals and rewards. If there isn’t, exit out of the Operation and find another one which does. This will cause you to abandon the current Operation but don’t worry, it will be worth it in the end.

While it is possible to do these missions solo (especially thanks to the Stratagems we’ll be recommending), we highly recommend finding a team to help farm these missions. Not only will having more squadmates mean a higher chance at survival, but you’ll also have access to more Stratagems and firepower which can significantly cut down the completion time on these missions. Furthermore, having more players in your team will allow you to push into the upper difficulties – including the daunting Helldiver difficulty – which equals more rewards, more Medals, more EXP and more Slips: with the right set-up and equipment, even players of a much lower level can take on these higher difficulties.

Advice and Tips for Efficient Farming in HELLDIVERS 2

Search for Eradication Missions in Planetary Defence Zones

Another thing worth noting is that you should mainly be on the lookout for Eradication missions in the current Planetary Defence zone. Active at all times in HELLDIVERS 2 are Planetary Defence Zones, specific planets in sectors where the war between Super Earth and its foes is particularly fierce, to the point where the planet may fall if enough resources aren’t dedicated to it. Planets in the Planetary Defence zone have a large red DEFEND icon as well as a timer and a percentage bar.

Usually, you’ll want to gravitate towards completing missions on the Planetary Defence Zones because they offer a big injection of rewards if players can complete the weekly Major Order. However, the main reason why you should be looking at picking up Eradication missions inside the Defence Zone is because you won’t be subject to any negative Operation Modifiers while in those missions. These modifiers can be very detrimental to your mission, making a potential clear much more difficult on account of modifiers like Orbital Fluctuations, which increases Staratgem cooldown by 50%.

Defence Zones

For example, as of writing, the Planetary Defence Zone is on the Automaton side of the galaxy. Because of this, any Operations you undertake on planets you’re attempting to Defend – including Eradication missions – won’t have any negative modifiers, even at the greatest difficulties HELLDIVERS 2 offers. Meanwhile, suppose you try the same kind of Operation on the Terminid side of the galaxy. In that case, you’ll be hit by a wave of negative modifiers that will make the experience much more challenging, even if the enemies themselves are easier.

As such, always be on the lookout for where the current Defence Zone is located so you can take advantage of those big beneficial buffs to make farming all the easier.

Bugs or Robots?

Outside of looking for the Planetary Defence Zones, should you prioritise going after Automaton Eradication missions or Terminid Eradication missions? Well, of the two, the former is, in most scenarios, going to be the better faction for farming purposes.

In the majority of Automaton Eradication missions, you’ll be posted at some small fortress or facility as waves of robots continually inch forward into your territory. And I do mean inch. The biggest plus of going against the Automatons is that they are really slow, allowing you to get away from them in moments of crisis far easier, especially with how many little ledges or elevated bits of cover there are in these locations. This also allows certain Stratagems or grenades to take out large groups much more consistently. Between the differences in elevations and the narrow choke points that the bots need to get through to get to you, these missions are actually much more manageable than they appear.

Slow and Deadly

Slow and Deadly

When it comes to the Terminids, however, it’s a different story, mainly due to the terrain you’re fighting in. The high ground you see in most Automaton Eradication missions has given way to wide open plains with little-to-no cover in the Terminid missions, giving you much fewer opportunities to sneak away and recover after a bad hit. Additionally, that empty space becomes especially lethal when paired with the sheer number of Terminids you’ll encounter in these missions: compared to the Automatons, the bugs are fast, allowing them to quickly swarm in on your location if you don’t have the best of the best in terms of primary weapons.

Furthermore, when we’re comparing the two deadliest foes from each faction – the Hulks and the Bile Titans – the Automaton’s elites are far easier to handle. While the Hulks and Tank will likely kill you in a single hit if they get close, they share the same slow weakness as their metal brethren, allowing you to more easily navigate around them. Additionally, the Stratagems you’ll be bringing to these missions seem to fare better against the Automaton elites. On the other hand, Bile Titans are mean, have a ton of coverage with their vomit attacks, are always surrounded by tons of smaller Terminids, and just don’t seem to die.

So, if given the choice, we highly recommend focusing on farming the Automaton Eradication missions instead of the Terminid Eradication missions.

Best Stratagems for Eradicate Operations

Compared to most other map types in HELLDIVERS 2, Eradication Operations have a very small area where you and your squad will be fighting. On one hand, this can make things much more difficult as you’re likely to be overwhelmed: however, with the right Stratagems, you can turn this disadvantage into an instant win condition.

Some of the best Stratagems for these Operations are the Sentry Stratagems from the Robotics Workshop, specifically the Mortar Sentry. Because of the small area, the Mortar Sentry’s attacks can hit practically everywhere on the field, allowing you to have insane amounts of coverage when it comes to enemies. If your entire squad can place down one Mortar Sentry each, you’ll have the entry field covered and be able to blast down even the largest targets as soon as they appear. If you don’t have access to the Mortar yet (which unlocks at level 8), the Machine Gun Sentry and Gatling Sentry still work incredibly well at chunking down everything from boss enemies to low-level fodder. You’ll just need to be more mindful of where you place them and what sight lines they cover as they won’t have the same sort of coverage as the Mortars.

Alongside the Sentry Stratagems, Support Weapons like the Autocannon or the Railgun are a real game-changer, especially against Automatons, as they allow you to chew through the heavy armour of the Hulks and even the Bot Drop Ships. Other excellent Stratagems include the Orbital Railgun as it will precisely target the most lethal foes and take them down in an instant, proving to be a massive help in Helldiver-tier content where those types of enemies come in abundance.

As for what sort of Stratagems to avoid or be more cautious of, the extremely powerful Orbital Cannon and Eagle Stratagems might prove more of a hindrance than a boon. Because of how limited walking space actually is in Eradication Operations, you run a much higher risk of getting caught in the explosions from either of these Stratagem types, especially if you get overwhelmed by enemies. These Stratagem types also run the risk of destroying your own turrets and sentries if you don’t watch where you aim them. While they are indeed powerful, consider choosing your explosive Stratagems carefully to not waste lives or screw over your team.
