Alongside the numerous secrets to unearth and tough quests to conquer, there are also a bunch of unique weapons to collect for each character in Granblue Fantasy: Relink.

With almost 20 playable characters to control, all of whom have their own special fighting style and weapons, there’s a ton of variety when it comes to weapon choice, especially once you reach the endgame. From weapons which increase Stun Power to those which boost Crit Rate, there’s a lot to choose from. If you want the best of the best, though, you’ll need to get your hands on the illusive Terminus Weapons.

The Terminus Weapons are the best weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink, with each possessing a unique Trait which increases both their ATK and DMG Cap alongside having the highest raw ATK in the game. If you can obtain and master these weapons, there’s nothing in Zegagrande which can stop you. However, thanks to their arduous acquisition path which includes multiple layers of randomness and RNG and the playstyle limitations they impose, some may see the Terminus Weapons as something out of their reach, especially when compared to the already powerful Ascension Weapons.

Here’s how to unlock the Terminus Weapons in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, as well as whether they’re worth grinding over the Ascension Weapons.

How to Get the Terminus Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink

To obtain Terminus Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink, you must complete The Tale of Bahamut’s Rage, the final quest in the release version of GBF Relink and the last Proud difficulty quest.

You will unlock Proud quests after completing all available Maniac-tier Quests, concluding with Saga Grande: Happily Ever After. Following that, Proud difficulty will become available, with quests of this toughness beginning at PWR 10,000 with The Final Report, a rematch after Bahamut Versa. We highly recommend playing online and combating all Proud mode quests – including The Tale of Bahamut’s Rage – with other players as you likely won’t have the PWR required across four different characters to get the quests done efficiently.

Eventually, after battling your way through the Proud difficulty quest log, you’ll unlock the Tale of Bahamut’s Rage. This quest tasks you with boarding the Grancypher to take on Proto Bahamut in a suped-up, endgame version of the fight from the Relink’s Prologue. With an advised PWR of 17,500, this will be the toughest challenge Granblue Fantasy Relink throws at you.

Suppose you do manage to overcome this momentous challenge. In that case, you will be awarded a ton of different rewards including Legendary Merits, Mirage Munitions, Legendary Sigils, Proto Bahamut materials and, of course, Terminus Weapons. All these items and more drop from the final set of chests which spawn after you slay Proto Bahamut.

Terminus Drops Are Random

However, the most important thing to know about Terminus Weapon drops is that they’re randomized in two ways.

Firstly, you aren’t guaranteed to get a Terminus Weapon on every Tale of Bahamut’s Rage completion. It seems that there’s roughly a 50% chance for one to drop on a successful run so prepare to farm the quest multiple times for the weapon you want and don’t be disheartened if one doesn’t drop immediately.

On top of that, when a Terminus Weapon does eventually drop, the one you get is completely random. With 19 playable characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink, you have 19 potential Terminus weapons to obtain each run. Fortunately, once you’ve obtained a Terminus Weapon it will be knocked out of the loot pool, meaning that you cannot get duplicate Terminus Weapons: if you’re willing to put in the effort and grind out The Tale of Bahamut’s Rage, you’ll eventually get all the Terminus Weapons.

Terminus Weapon Overview and Traits

So, now that you’ve gotten your hand on a few Terminus Weapons, what makes them the best of the best in Granblue Fantasy: Relink?

Terminus Weapons have a unique quirk compared to all other weapon types. Every single weapon in the game will give their character a bonus amount of HP and ATK when equipped, with higher rarity weapons like Ascension Weapons usually giving an abundant amount of both. However, while the ATK on Terminus Weapons is the highest in the game, they will only provide 99 extra HP no matter how high you level them: whether they’re level 1 or level 150, 99 health is all you’ll get. At first, this may seem a bit strange – perhaps it’s a way to balance their power – but it begins to make sense when you take a look at their Traits.

Terminus Weapons Have the Highest Base ATK Stat

Terminus Weapons Have the Highest Base ATK Stat

All Terminus Weapons come with two main traits – Catastrophe at T. Lvl 25 and Regen at T. Lvl 15. Catastrophe is an interesting Trait which is only available on the Terminus Weapons which boosts your attack power and damage cap whenever your maximum health is below a certain threshold: to be more specific, you will gain ATK +50% and DMG Cap +100% when your max HP is at or below 45,000. Unless you are deliberately stacking HP Sigils, it should be very easy to keep below this threshold, especially due to the low health gain on the Terminus Weapons.

Meanwhile, Lvl 15 Regen continually regenerates 2% of your HP every second. Equipping more Regen Sigil will improve this effect. This is likely here to offset the lower HP you may have as a result of building around Catastrophe. With both of these Traits working in tandem, high-skill players can benefit from massive damage boosts, the ability to skyrocket through the DMG Cap and recover from any small bits of damage over time, so long as they can avoid any big attacks from bosses.

Lastly, you can still imbue Terminus Weapons with Wrightstones for additional Trait Levels and still outfit them with Mirage Munitions to boost their already impressive ATK even further. What’s more, you won’t even have to spend resources on uncapping them as Terminus Weapons come with their level 150 level cap already unlocked: honestly, it was the least they could do after you beat Bahamut.

Terminus Weapon Awakening

Furthermore, like Ascension Weapons, Terminus Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink can be Awakened. You unlock this option at Siero’s Knickknack Shack after you reach level 150 with either an Ascension Weapon or a Terminus Weapon. Awakening allows you to further increase the ATK and HP of your weapons beyond normal means.

To raise a weapon’s Awakening Level, you’ll need a unique crop of endgame materials and resources such as Exceptional Refinium, Legendary Merits, Silver Centrum and drops from Proud-tier bosses like Proto Bahamut and the Automagod. You can Awaken a single weapon up to 10 times, with their HP and ATK increasing with each level.

Because of the HP stat cap on Terminus Weapons, Awakening will only improve their ATK stat. Even then, though, increasing a Terminus Weapon’s Awakening Level can drastically boost their ATK, letting the best weapons in the game become even better.

Ascension Weapons vs Terminus Weapons in Granblue Fantasy Relink

The only real competition to the Terminus Weapons is the Ascension Weapons, the tools you’ve likely been using and upgrading since reaching Chapter 0. Some players may be reluctant to part with their Ascension Weapons, especially after investing so heavily in them with Wrightstones and level cap resources, while others may find the idea of grinding Rage of Bahamut to get the exact Terminus Weapon you want too much.

The real question to ask in this situation is whether the Terminus Weapons are worth the grind over the Ascension Weapons, as both have their strengths and weaknesses.

The main benefit to Ascension Weapons over the Terminus Weapons is that they’re easier to obtain while still providing you with a high amount of Traits and stats. Ascension Weapons get native ATK and HP Traits – as well as DMG Cap Traits at maximum level – while retaining their high natural HP gain. While the ATK and DMG Cap boost from Catastrophe is incredibly strong, it does limit what kind of Sigils or Wrightstones you use (even just slightly) and can prove a hindrance for those playing weaker, squishier characters – if you keep dying before you can utilise that high ATK, what’s the point? Simply put, Ascension weapons are the safer, more straightforward option.

Proto Bahamut, The Final Challenge

Proto Bahamut, The Final Challenge

However, if you’re able to work around that HP limitation, Terminus Weapons come out on top 9 times out of 10. The ATK and DMG Cap increase from Catastrophe eclipses anything you can find on even max-level Ascension weapons so long as you stay under that 45,000 HP threshold. Additionally, the raw ATK on Terminus Weapons completely outclasses Ascension Weapons, especially if you invest in Awakening. While you do have to be more mindful when using Terminus Weapons and you need to obviously grind them out from Proto Bahamut, they’re well worth the investment.

In short, players limited on time or wanting a more secure, lower-risk playstyle will find Ascension Weapons as their best choice because of their straightforward acquisition path and high set of base Traits and stats. On the other hand, if you’re both willing to put up with the restrictions imposed by the Catastrophe Trait and are okay with running Rage of Bahamut a lot to get the weapon you want, Terminus Weapons are the best option in all of Granblue Fantasy: Relink
