1. Investigate the Smoke

Make your way to Olivia in Town after starting the quest. You’ll also have the option to visit the campground to investigate the smoke rising from a nearby house. Since the area is close, it’s best to check it out first before proceeding.
- Locate the group of Biters around the cottage in the campground area.
- Investigate them after finding them at the campground.
- Avoid or eliminate the zombies to move through the fence blocking the main door of the cottage.
- Be cautious of the survivor who will suddenly attack you once you get close.
- Speak with the survivor after the encounter and then head toward the town hall to continue the quest.
- If you stray away from the campground or take too long, you’ll receive a radio transmission from the town hall, and your first two objectives will automatically update.
2. Get inside the Town Hall

Travel to the town hall in the center by following the new quest marker. Explore the rooftops and attics along the way before proceeding further. Investigating these areas can reward you with some early weapons in Dying Light: The Beast.
- Avoid the zombies in the town hall courtyard, as defeating them isn’t required.
- Jump over the gate and pass through the door ahead.
- After a short cutscene, you’ll receive your first gun.

2.1 How to Defeat the Defect

After you get your gun, you will reach an open area where you’ll face a Chimera named Defect. Chimera is a deadly creature with devastating attack patterns that can kill you in just a few hits. Facing this enemy is quite challenging, as it moves quickly and attacks with relentless speed.
- Pay attention to your surroundings and dodge to avoid the slam attacks from Chimera.
- Avoid wasting ammo or weapon durability on this creature.
- Collect a few bottles of alcohol from the courtyard and craft Molotov Cocktails.
- Throw the Molotovs at the Defect to set it on fire and weaken it.
- Once it’s burning, rush in to attack and deal close-range damage.
- Activate Beast Mode to unleash massive damage and stunlock the Chimera.
- Keep an eye on your Beast meter and refill it by attacking, dodging, or parrying.
- Use nearby gas canisters to inflict additional explosive damage on the Defect.
3. Climb the Tower

Move behind the double doors to speak with the survivors after defeating the undead. Talk to the NPC Jacob, who will inform you about the Sheriff. Jacob explains that the Sheriff went to the town hall’s tower to restart the power system, but hasn’t returned yet.
- Move upward through the arch past the statue after returning to the courtyard.
- You’ll find yourself at the base of the tower.
- Follow the path leading upward and take the stairs to encounter one of the Rangers from the survivor group.
- The Ranger has been bitten by zombies, but gives you a box filled with ammo before dying.
3.1. Find Sheriff

You need to find the Sheriff, who came here to reconnect the power line but hasn’t returned yet. The Sheriff is fighting off zombies at the top of the tower. After reaching her, she agrees to help you restore the power.
- Move up to the ledge after climbing.
- Use the railings along the walls of the round room to reach the upper floor.
- Find a box placed on a platform inside the room.
- Push or use the box to reach the nearby ledge using the railings.
- Follow the path marked by clothes tied to objects or painted ledges if you’re unsure where to go.
4. Climb the Clock Tower

You need to head back to the base of the tower to reconnect the power line and restore electricity to the Town Hall area.
- Use the zipline to reach the roof of the town hall.
- Head to the opposite end of the tower to find the power room.
- Locate the junction box inside and interact with it.
- Follow the long power line from the box back toward the tower.
- Exit through the small window in the room after connecting the line.
- Once you reach the base of the tower, turn toward the clock and begin climbing back up.
- Carefully use the ledges along the side to ascend without falling.
4.1 Reconnect the Power Line

Don’t cross the power line against any obstacles, as it has a limited length. If it gets tangled, you’ll need to untangle it before proceeding. Move carefully while reconnecting the power line to complete the objective efficiently.
- Move back with the Sheriff to the main group of survivors.
- A long cutscene will play, followed by a tutorial you shouldn’t skip.
- During this tutorial, you’ll learn how to mod your weapons to deal different damage types.
- Head to the workbench inside the town hall to collect the weapon blueprint and complete the objective.
