How Base Raiding Works in the Deep Desert
Base raiding in Dune: Awakening is a timed PvP feature tied to storm events and power failure in the Deep Desert. This guide answers the key question: Is there base raiding in Dune Awakening?
And explains exactly how to destroy enemy bases, breach shields, and take out Sub-Fief consoles. Learn the systems, tools, and strategies you need to dominate raids and defend your base.
1. Is There Base Raiding in Dune Awakening?
Yes, base raiding is fully implemented in Dune: Awakening, but only under specific conditions inside the Deep Desert PvP zone. Outside of this region — including Hagga Basin and safe zones — bases cannot be attacked or destroyed.
Where Raiding is Possible
- Allowed: Deep Desert PvP zone
- Not Allowed: Hagga Basin, PvE zones, safe zones
2. When Do Base Shields Drop?
Bases are protected by shields as long as they have power. Raids can only happen during moments of vulnerability caused by storms or fuel loss.
Shield Drop Conditions
- Power failure: when the Fuel Power Generator runs out or is destroyed
- Sandstorm: causes a 6-minute shield drop across affected bases
- Coriolis Storm: longer downtime before full base wipe
Important Notes
- Deep Desert bases are not taxed, so unpaid taxes do not cause shield drops
- After a storm, shields come back online automatically if power is restored
3. How to Break Into a Base
Once shields are down, you can break in using melee weapons or rocket launchers. Entry points and structural health vary by object type.
Best Entry Points
- Doors: 2,500–4,500 HP, easiest to destroy
- Walls: up to 8,000 HP, much slower
- Pent Shield tiles: 3,500 HP per segment
Tips for Breaching
- Target doors first to enter quickly
- Use rockets for fast structure damage
- Rotate base doors toward cliffs to delay attackers
4. Tools and Weapons for Raiding
Efficient raiding depends on your choice of tools. Use Lasguns and ornithopters to break shields, walls, and the Sub-Fief console.
Lasgun
- Requires 6 full charges to destroy a wall tile
- Players can rotate one Lasgun between two players to avoid cooldown
Ornithopters
- Assault Ornithopter Rocket: 248 damage per shot
- Scout Ornithopter Rocket: 164 damage per shot
- Switch between two thopters for continuous DPS
5. How to Destroy a Sub-Fief Console
The Sub-Fief console is the core of every base and has 25,500 HP. Destroying it disables all structures and transfers control of the territory.
Strategy
- Use rockets to burst down the console during storm windows
- Protect your own console with Pent Shields and elevation
- Hide exposed consoles behind walls or structures
6. Terrain and Stealth Strategies
Where you place your base — and how you build it — greatly affects your vulnerability to raids.
Smart Base Placement
- Build on cliffsides or behind rock faces to limit approach angles
- Hide doors to delay attackers from spotting entrances
- Use elevation to bury the Sub-Fief console
Use of Quicksand
Quicksand zones do not trigger Wormsign and are safe terrain. Vehicles will not sink, and shields can be safely activated in these areas.
- Safe to idle vehicles
- Can be used for temporary protection
