Caravan SandWitch features a hidden side quest in Chapter 4 called Forgotten Consciousnesses, where you help a group of robots recover the minds of abandoned machines scattered underground across Cigalo. This guide shows you exactly how to start the task, where to find each robot, and what tools or upgrades are required along the way.
1. How to Start the Forgotten Consciousnesses Task
You gain access to this quest in Chapter 4 after activating the first receptacle relay at the Aqueduct. This leads you to the Refuge, where Sauge meets a group of robots. Among them are Turing and Lamarr, who reveal their mission: uploading abandoned robot consciousnesses into a shared server.
Speak to them, and you’ll automatically unlock the side task Forgotten Consciousnesses in your Toaster menu. This mission is not time-limited — you can complete it across Chapters 4 to 6 as you upgrade Sauge’s tools and van.
Speak to the robots at the Refuge and they will give you a special task.
2. Where to Find All Robot Consciousnesses
There are a total of five robots to find, each located in an underground zone throughout Cigalo. You need various tools — like the antenna hacker and pulley — to access all areas. A robot icon will appear on your map whenever you enter a zone containing one. Only one robot is found per location.
Robot consciousnesses are stored on you so you can take them back to the Refuge robots.
Supervisor Robot – Refuge Cellars (Chapter 4)
- Location: Refuge Cellars (enter via Satellite Watchtower, not the Refuge)
- Tool Required: Antenna hacker
- How to Reach: Hack the door at the tower base. Once inside, follow the tunnel and look opposite the ladder leading to the receptacle.
- Notes: This is the first consciousness you can collect. Sauge has a short dialogue with the robot, which mentions Garance.

Driller Robot – Residential Basements (Chapter 5)
- Location: Basements in Residential Area N-337 (northwest Cigalo)
- Tool Required: None additional
- How to Reach: Enter the Basements zone. Look for an olive tree underground — the Driller is nearby on a platform.
- Notes: This area is accessible while working on the second receptacle.

Transporter Robot – Underground Metro (Chapter 6)
- Location: Underground Metro (near Rose’s Retreat)

- How to Reach: Go to the receptacle, then zip across to the opposite platform. The Transporter robot is there.
- Notes: This is during the Chapter 6 mission involving the final receptacle. The zone also connects to Hydropost and Logitechpost.

Transformer Robot – Docks Storehouse (Chapter 5)
- Location: Storehouse at Docks H-819
- Tool Required: Pulley
- How to Reach: Use the pulley zipline near the entrance, then open the door. Inside, search the back of the room near large machines to find the robot.
- Notes: No van access or hacking required. The robot looks like a tall vending machine.

Second Transporter Robot – Labotech Basements (Post-Chapter 5)
- Location: Labotech Basements (Labotech building, southwest Cigalo)
- Tool Required: Grapple hook + pulley + hacker
- How to Reach: Grapple to the rooftop, press both switches above the door, then hack the door platform. Inside, use the energy cable and elevator-area switches to unlock access to the robot room.
- Notes: This is the last consciousness, found in a deep isolated room. The robot will speak briefly before transferring its data.

3. How to Complete the Forgotten Consciousnesses Task
Once you’ve gathered all five consciousnesses, return to the Refuge and speak to the robots. Use the nearby terminal to upload the consciousnesses. Doing so completes the task and grants you a set of components as a reward. You may also unlock optional lore about Garance depending on how many robots you’ve found and which dialogue options you choose.
Tip: This side quest is not required for story progression, but completing it provides valuable story depth and materials for van upgrades.
