Arc Raiders – How To Upgrade Scrappy to Max Level

Want better loot returns after every raid? Upgrade Scrappy to max level in Arc Raiders using this detailed material farming guide. Learn all the required materials, locations to farm them, and tips to level up faster for better passive resource collection between raids.

Upgrade Scrappy to Max Level Arc Raiders

Scrappy in Arc Raiders is a chicken-like scavenger that passively gathers materials for you between raids in your den. The higher his level, the better quality resources he brings back, making him a valuable long-term asset. Upgrading Scrappy requires specific materials that you must extract successfully from raids—if you die, you’ll lose those items.

While upgrading Scrappy improves your passive material collection, you should also focus on enhancing your gear, skills, and extraction performance. To upgrade efficiently, target zones where the required resources commonly spawn and always prioritize safe extractions.

1. What Is Scrappy in Arc Raiders (And Why It Matters)

Scrappy is your passive income of basic mats, but it’s not just basic mats. He also brings you seeds, which are currency for all sorts of mats when you trade with Celeste. Those mats, along with the refiner, essentially mean that you have a much easier time crafting weapons, tools, consumables, weapon attachments, and bench upgrades.

How Scrappy Works

  • Passive Material Runs: After every raid, Scrappy returns with materials that scale with your performance and extraction success.
  • Seeds as Currency: In addition to mats, Scrappy brings Seeds — a key currency for trading with Celeste for rare crafting components.
  • Performance-Based Rewards: The longer you survive and the cleaner your extract, the better the loot Scrappy gathers. Failed extractions yield fewer Seeds and lower-tier mats.
  • Upgrade Path: Scrappy has five upgrade tiers. Each requires a mix of nature loot and pet-related resources to unlock higher efficiency.
  • Scaling Benefits: Each tier increases both the quantity and quality of items Scrappy retrieves, turning him into a major progression booster.

2. How to Upgrade Scrappy to Max Level

Train Scrappy

Train Scrappy

You can upgrade Scrappy through the Workshop. Open the Workshop menu, click on Scrappy’s icon, and select Train to access his upgrade options. Each new level increases the amount and quality of resources he gathers after every raid, turning him into a powerful source of passive income.

Max Level Requirements

Scrappy has five upgrade tiers. Each requires a specific set of items:

  • Level 2 – Forager Scrappy: 1× Dog Collar (Rare)
  • Level 3 – Scavenger Scrappy: 3× Lemons (Common), 3× Apricots (Common)
  • Level 4 – Treasure Hunter Scrappy: 6× Prickly Pears (Common), 6× Olives (Common), 1× Cat Bed (Common)
  • Level 5 – Master Hoarder Scrappy: 12× Apricots (Common), 12× Mushrooms (Common), 3× Very Comfortable Pillows (Common)
Once you reach the Master Hoarder tier, Scrappy’s material yield increases dramatically, helping you stockpile crafting resources for endgame raids.

3. All Scrappy Resources Locations

Below are the locations and POIs from where you can obtain the required resources for upgrading Scrappy to a max level.

3.1 Level 2 – Forager Scrappy

Search Container

Searching Container

Requirements: 1x Dog Collar

Dog collars in Arc Raiders can be found as loot in residential areas and are used to upgrade Scrappy to Forager (Level 2). However, these are not fixed locations as loot is randomized, but you still have a high chance of finding it in drawers or cabinets.

Best Locations to Find Dog Collars

Here are the best locations you can check for looting a Dog Collar for Scrappy.

  • Buried City Southern Houses – Good early spot to loot
  • Dam area – Check cabinets and drawers for the Dog Collar
  • Pale Apartments and Ruby Residence – It is Northwest in the Dam Battlegrounds map, and check all drawers.

Tips for Finding a Dog Collar

  • If you didn’t sell or recycle your items, you likely found a Dog Collar in your first few games at the Dam Battlegrounds map.
  • Make sure to search every drawer, crate, and loot container in these areas for the best chance to obtain it.

3.2 Level 3 – Scavenger Scrappy

Requirement: 3x Lemons, 3x Appricots

Upgrading Scrappy to Level 3 (Scavenger Scrappy) boosts his efficiency in gathering materials after each raid. At this stage, he begins returning with rarer mats and more Seeds, making it one of the most valuable early upgrades.

1. How to Find Lemons

Lemon Tree Arc Raiders

Lemon Tree

Lemons are a crafting material and can be found near trees in the Blue Gate Map. However, Lemons cannot be found in the Dam Battlegrounds area, so you’ll need to look elsewhere.

2. How to Find Apricots

Apricots Arc Raiders

Apricots

Make your way to the right side of the Control Tower. This place has a high density of apricots and prickly pears. It has apricot trees where you can find apricots, and then you can kick the tree to drop one more.

Best Locations For Lemons and Apricots

You will find lemons and apricots grouped on the Left of Shipping Warehouse and right of Jiang Warehouse. Here are the best locations for fruit trees to help you loot these crafting materials.

  • Buried City —Marano Park
  • Spaceport —Staff Parking
  • Blue Gate —Olive Grove

There can be a rare spawn of fruit baskets sometimes in residential areas, which can give you lemons, apricots, or other fruits, but tree spawns are overall better for your run.

3.3 Level 4 – Treasure Hunter Scrappy

Requirement: 6x Prickly Pears, 6x Olives, 1x Cat Bed

Upgrading Scrappy to Level 4 (Treasure Hunter Scrappy) greatly improves his material yield and unlocks the chance for him to bring back rare crafting items and more Seeds per raid. The Olive Grove has long sightlines and heavy ARC patrols, so approach stealthily or use ranged weapons.

1. How to Find Prickly Pears

The island near the Blue Gate map has a high cactus density, making it one of the best spots to find Prickly Pears in Arc Raiders. You can’t interact with or kick the cactus directly, but the pears spawn naturally around them in small quantities. The Buried City edge is another good farming spot, offering multiple cactus clusters — and since pear spawns are random, more clusters mean better chances.

Cactus also spawns in the Dam Battlegrounds Map, so you can get Prickly Pears in that map as well, but Buried City overall has better quantity.

2. How to Find Olives

Olive Grove location

Olives in Arc Raiders can be found across several areas, but the best farming spot is the Olive Grove in Blue Gate. This location is clearly marked on the map and offers a wide area filled with Olive trees, which are slightly thicker than other trees.

You only need about six Olives, and it’s easy to gather them in one full run. However, be cautious — this POI has long sightlines, limited cover, and a high ARC presence, making it dangerous without proper gear. For additional spawns, check the southwest area of Checkpoint and the fields at the center of the Village to complete your collection safely.

3. How to Find Cat Bed For Scrappy

Plaza Rosa Location

Plaza Rosa Location

You can find the Cat Beds in both Residential and Commercial areas. The best places to find Cat Beds are Ruby Residence and Pale Apartments in the northwest corner of Dam Battlegrounds.

More Locations for Cat Bed

  • Search thoroughly in Old Town, located in Buried City to maximize your chances of finding a Cat Bed.
  • You can also obtain one from the Village in the north of the Blue Gate map.
  • Additionally, if you’re lucky, you might come across a Cat Bed while exploring The Spaceport, making it another worthwhile location to check during your raids.

3.4 Level 5 – Master Hoarder Scrappy Scrappy

Requirement: 12x Apricot, 12x Mushroom, 3x Very Comfortable Pillow

Reaching Level 5 (Master Hoarder Scrappy) is the final and most rewarding upgrade. At this stage, Scrappy brings back the highest quantity and quality of resources, including rare materials and Seeds. This upgrade solidifies him as a major endgame asset for crafting, trading, and refining progression.

NOTE: For Apricots, use the above-mentioned loot locations, as some of these crafting materials are used more than once in an upgrade level, it’s good to know spawn locations to save time.

1. How to Find Mushrooms

Mushrooms Location

Mushrooms Location

The best place you could find Mushrooms is in the Dam. You can find them in Formicai Hills, the Swamp, and the Hydroponic Dome Complex. They’re located in those two green locations on the map. You will find them on trees, either standing trees or ones broken on the ground.

Tips for Finding Mushrooms

  • Mostly, you will find one Mushroom per location.
  • Check trees properly, as they can be hidden sometimes.
  • The only Location with two Mushrooms is inside the Domes near the water, but it’s a random spawn.
  • Collecting all 12 can be quite challenging. Make sure to bring a Safe Pocket to secure your finds and avoid losing progress during extraction.

2. How to Find Very Comfortable Pillows

Santa Maria Houses location

Santa Maria Houses location

You need to upgrade Scrappy to Master Hoarder (Level 5). Very Comfortable Pillows are late-game materials found mostly in Buried City’s residential districts. They’re used in Scrappy’s final upgrade, which increases the amount and quality of resources he brings back from raids.

Best Locations to Find Pillows

  • Buried City – Residential & Commercial Blocks: The most consistent farming areas; search desks, cabinets, and wardrobes inside intact buildings.
  • Santa Maria Houses: Dense housing cluster with multiple searchable interiors and a high chance of finding household items.
  • Plaza Rosa: Good secondary area with frequent comfort-type loot.
  • Village North of Blue Gate: Smaller but often contains rare home items in upper-floor apartments.

Tips

  • Prioritize indoor furniture like drawers, cupboards, and bedside cabinets.
  • Check every searchable container carefully, as pillows are part of random home loot pools.
  • Collect at least three pillows before upgrading — they’re also required for certain bench upgrades.
Once you’ve gathered all required materials, return to your Workshop to complete Scrappy’s Level 5 training. At max rank, he’ll consistently return higher-quality materials and better trade yields with Celeste.
