Arc Raiders – How to Get the Comet Igniter

Learn how to get the Comet Igniter in ARC Raiders’ Shrouded Sky update. Check out where to find Comets, engagement tips, and the best strategies to secure the rare Igniter drop.

Comet Ignitor Arc RaidersThe Comet Igniter is a rare, essential item in Arc Raiders required for Stage 2 of the Weather Monitoring System project in the Shrouded Sky update. It cannot be found as ground loot or crafted — the only way to obtain it is by killing a Comet ARC enemy before it detonates and then looting its core.

1. What is Comet?

Comets are large, spherical ARC enemies that patrol outdoor open areas on most maps, except Stella Montis, which is indoor and doesn’t allow them to spawn. They detect players, lock on, and roll toward you before charging up a powerful explosion.

2. Comet Spawn Locations

Look for Comets in open surface areas on maps such as:

  • Buried City: wide open square north of Plaza Rosa.
  • Dam Battlegrounds: open fields near the Control Tower and the dam exterior.
  • Blue Gate: around open terrain near the Warehouse Complex.
  • Spaceport: runways and cargo yards. They spawn outdoors and don’t appear inside buildings or enclosed spaces.

3. How to Destroy a Comet

The Comet is a powerful, armored, ground-based ARC enemy introduced in the Shrouded Sky update. Known for its self-destruct mechanics, the Comet patrols outdoor areas on most maps and can destroy the Comet Igniter if it detonates.

  1. Spot it from a distance: Comets are easy to recognize once you know the signs. Look for a rolling unit with a single front light and a glowing strip on top. The strip stays yellow while patrolling but turns red the moment it detects you, signaling an incoming charge and self-destruct.
  2. Keep your range: Engage from a safe distance before the Comet locks on. Space gives you time to break through its armor and avoid getting rushed into a forced detonation.
  3. Open with heavy damage: Start the fight aggressively using high-impact weapons. Hullcracker, Anvil, Ferro, and Bettina are all effective at stripping armor quickly and shortening the encounter.
  4. Use explosives to speed things up: Grenades like Seeker, Heavy Fuze, or Trigger ’Nade can soften the Comet early, making it easier to finish off before it reaches critical charge.
  5. Watch the detonation cues: As the Comet closes in, its lights turn fully red and a sharp, high-pitched whine begins. This indicates the final seconds before explosion, leaving little room for error.
  6. Secure the kill and loot the core: Destroy the Comet before it detonates, then loot its central core to collect the Comet Igniter, which is required for the Weather Monitoring System project.

NOTE: The core loot may occasionally not appear due to visual glitches. If you kill the Comet before detonation, the Igniter should always spawn in the core.

4. Loot the Core for the Comet

Once the Comet is destroyed before it explodes, it breaks into two parts:

  • The outer ring, which drops common loot like ARC parts.
  • The central core, which contains the Comet Igniter — the only place it will spawn.

Make sure to loot both parts and interact with the core container to add the Igniter to your inventory.
