Arc Raiders – How to defeat Firefly and Comet Arc Enemies

Spot, fight, and farm the Firefly and Comet in ARC Raiders with ease. Check out the exact patrol points, detection cues, and effective strategies for leaving each encounter alive and with rare drops in hand.

Firefly and Comet Arc RaidersThe Shrouded Sky update introduces two new ARC enemies — the Firefly and the Comet — that change topside combat, especially during hurricane conditions. These foes spawn outdoors on most maps and pose unique threats due to their attack styles and loot drops.

Both enemies can appear in regular raids, not just during Hurricanes, and are required to get new seasonal components like the Firefly Burner and Comet Igniter for the Weather Monitoring System project.

1. What is Firefly?

Firefly

Firefly

The Firefly is a new aerial ARC enemy that combines aspects of Hornets and Fireballs with a flamethrower attack. Here is how the Firefly arc works and the loot for destroying:

  • Armored flying drone: Stronger than standard flying ARCs like Wasps or Hornets, with 360° armor plating.
  • Flame attack: Emits a continuous flamethrower jet that deals heavy fire damage and can quickly kill Raiders caught in open areas.
  • Mobility: Flies around patrol routes and can reposition itself to keep its fire stream directed at targets.
  • Loot: Kills drop the Firefly Burner, a rare component used in the Weather Monitoring System and crafting recipes.

Fireflies don’t have fixed spawn points like static POIs, but they spawn outdoors on nearly all playable maps and tend to appear in the same open areas where flying ARC enemies like Wasps and Hornets patrol. They are visible and audible when present — look for aerial drone activity and flamethrower fire sounds overhead.

  • Dam Battlegrounds – Hydroponic Dome Complex & Swamp Zones: Fireflies spawn frequently around the large open areas near the Hydroponic Dome and the swamp to the south where flying ARC patrols are common.
  • Dam Battlegrounds – Open Topsides: Beyond the dome, they can appear in the general dam spillway area and exterior paths leading to the Control Tower and Research & Administration zones.
  • Buried City – Street Openings & Exterior Courtyards: Fireflies often hover above outdoor courtyards and wide street areas where Wasps and Hornets roam.
  • Blue Gate – Open Launch Zones & Ruined Exterior Sections: Look for them in exposed central open spaces, including between transportation corridors and abandoned building exteriors where flying ARC are active.
  • Spaceport – Runways & Cargo Yard Areas: They patrol over open runway sections and cargo yard spaces, especially around the main control buildings and outdoor corridors where aerial enemies gather.
  • Stella Montis: Unlike the Comet, Fireflies also appear on Stella Montis — particularly in more open interior areas (e.g., large halls, loading bays) where airborne ARC groups normally spawn.
  • General Outdoor Patrol Behavior: Fireflies spawn alongside Wasps and Hornets during normal raids and hurricane conditions alike, crashing into the map from orbit and joining active flying patrol routes rather than appearing at set static points.

Fireflies are tough but have weaknesses you can exploit if you plan your engagement.

  • Keep distance: Avoid close quarters; their flamethrower jet can kill quickly at short range.
  • Use heavy weapons: High‑damage weapons like Hullcracker, Anvil, or Ferro help break armor faster.
  • Aim weak points: Focus fire on rotors or visible yellow gas components to destabilize them.
  • Cover and mobility: Use a solid cover to break the fire stream and reposition to avoid sustained flame.
  • Grenade options: Seeker or Wolfpack grenades can force quick destruction from a safer range.
  • Loot the corpse: Once destroyed, loot the Firefly to obtain the Firefly Burner required for seasonal progression.

2. What is Comet?

Comet

Comet

The Comet is a new ground‑based ARC threat that behaves differently from other bots. Here is how Comet works and loot for destroying one:

  • Spherical explosive unit: Looks like a heavier, outdoor version of the Pop ARC, but with significantly more armor and lethality.
  • Lock‑on behavior: Detects nearby Raiders, switching light indicators from yellow (initial detection) to red (fully locked).
  • Charge and explosion: Rolls quickly toward the target and detonates with a seismic blast capable of knocking down or killing nearby Raiders.
  • Loot: Killing it before detonation allows access to the Comet Igniter in its core — a key component for the Weather Monitoring project.

Comets are a new outdoor ARC enemy that only appear in open surface areas where they have access to the sky — they do not spawn indoors or in enclosed spaces. They crash down from orbit or patrol wide terrain, making them visible if you know where to look.

  • Buried City – Plaza Rosa & North Square: The wide open square north of Plaza Rosa and the surrounding park areas are among the most consistent zones where Comets roam.
  • Dam Battlegrounds – Control Tower & Floodgate Vicinity: Open terrain near the Control Tower POI and between the Water Treatment Control and Floodgates frequently sees Comet patrols.
  • Blue Gate – Warehouse Complex & Open Fields: In Blue Gate, Comets are commonly seen rolling across outside areas near the Warehouse Complex and other open fields between major structures.
  • Spaceport – Open Runways and Cargo Areas: Large outdoor sections such as runways, cargo yards, and exterior corridors are natural spawn zones for Comets, especially where flying ARC drops happen.

Destroying Comet

Taking down a Comet safely requires quick damage and positioning.

  • Engage from range: Start shooting before it detects you to reduce its health before it charges.
  • Use heavy weapons: Weapons like Anvil, Ferro, or Hullcracker or heavy grenades (e.g., Seeker, Heavy Fuze) break armor fast.
  • Prevent explosion: If a Comet detonates, its Igniter core is destroyed — you must kill it before self‑destruct to loot.
  • Use cover: If it charges you, break line of sight and hide to reset its lock or lure it away.
  • Bait tactics: Some players use grenades or terrain features to funnel Comets into predictable paths, damaging them before they reach you.
  • Loot core: After killing it pre‑explosion, loot the central core to obtain the Comet Igniter needed for progression.
