The Canto SMG blueprint is one of the rare weapon drops added in the Flashpoint update. Unlike event-locked weapons such as the Dolabra, the Canto follows a loot-based blueprint system, meaning there’s no fixed spawn—only optimized farming methods.
1. What Is Canto SMG?
The Canto SMG is a Rare-tier medium ammo submachine gun added to Arc Raiders in the Flashpoint update (Patch 1.22.0). It is a fully automatic weapon designed for close-range pressure and requires a Level 3 Gunsmith Station to craft once the blueprint is unlocked.
The Canto is a pretty powerful, fully automatic SMG that is great for both PvP and Arc damage. However, its main drawback is strong recoil and control difficulty, especially during sustained fire. Short bursts and proper attachments—such as grips and recoil-control mods—are important to keep it consistent in fights.
2. Canto SMG Blueprint Location
Getting the Canto blueprint in Arc Raiders is hard. In fact, it’s harder to get than the Legendary Dolabra blueprint. The Canto SMG blueprint is a Rare-tier drop, which means no fixed spawn point exists on any map. Unlike some blueprints tied to a specific chest or room, this one can appear in containers, Security Lockers, and weapon cases.
2.1. Primary Source – Hurricane Raider Caches
The most consistent method to get the Canto SMG blueprint is during Hurricane raids. During Hurricane, a special type of container replaces some standard cache spawns. Loot First Wave Raider Caches to get your hands on this rare blueprint drop. Follow these steps to find Hurricane caches:
- Check the map rotation and queue only when Hurricane condition is active on all maps except Stella Montis
- Load into high-efficiency maps like Dam Battlegrounds or Blue Gate for better cache routing
- Move directly between Raider Cache spawn points, ignoring standard loot and unnecessary fights
- Identify upgraded caches by their distinct electrical hum, instead of normal ticking sounds
- Prioritize caches in open areas and POIs, rather than wasting time searching interiors
- Secure the blueprint instantly by placing it in your Safe Pocket
- Reset the run early if no upgraded caches appear within the first few minutes
- Repeat short runs consistently instead of committing to long raids
2.2. Secondary Source – Close Scrutiny Weapon Cases
The second most consistent source for the Canto SMG blueprint comes from Combat Supplies during the Close Scrutiny map condition. These special supplies are marked on the map during the raid. They contain weapon cases, ammo containers, Healing items, and Explosives. Follow this optimal route for farming weapon cases:
- Queue into the Close Scrutiny map condition; it’s available on all maps except Stella Montis
- Check your map during Close Scrutiny for Combat Supplies
- Mark the location on the map to get to it faster, and go to a location closer to your spawn
- Loot Weapon Cases, if spawned, to get a chance at the blueprint
- Go to Buried City, Santa Maria Houses, to loot the weapon case for Canto SMG
- Repeat if the weapon case doesn’t spawn
Tip: As Canto SMG is a rare weapon, you also have a chance to get the blueprint from weapon cases and containers. Use Night Raids to boost drop rate and loot weapon cases in Buried City, Santa Maria Houses, and Blue Gate Reinforced Reception.
3. How to Craft Canto SMG
Once the blueprint is extracted and learned in Speranza, the Canto SMG becomes permanently craftable at the Gunsmith Station. The recipe is straightforward and uses commonly farmed materials compared to other high-tier weapons.
| Material | Amount | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Advanced Mechanical Components | 2× | Recycle Rare/Epic gear, craft from components, or find in mechanical loot areas |
| Magnet | 5× | Buy from Celeste, scavenge across maps, or recycle items |
| Medium Gun Parts | 3× | Loot from lockers/containers, craft via blueprint, or purchase from Celeste |
