Expedition in Arc Raiders is a unique and challenging system that allows players to reset their Raiders’ progress in exchange for long-term rewards. It’s essentially a prestige mode where careful preparation, resource management, and timing are key to maximizing benefits. Expedition acts as a wipe mechanic to reset progression, but it works according to your choice.
1. What is Expedition in Arc Raiders
Expedition is the game’s voluntary reset or prestige system. Players can choose to wipe their Raiders’ progress to gain permanent rewards and temporary buffs that carry over to future runs. It helps keep the economy fresh and introduces an 8-week seasonal loop for long-term progression.
- Purpose: Offer account-wide advantages, seasonal loops, and meta-progression bonuses.
- How it works: Contribute resources over 8 weeks, build a caravan, then decide whether to commit your Raider to the Expedition.
- Solo but flexible: Expeditions are primarily solo, but friends can participate simultaneously.
- Rewards: Extra stash space, cosmetic items, skill points, and account bonuses for future runs.
- Optional: Players are not forced to participate — skipping means no reset, and contributions carry over to the next cycle.
2. How to Unlock Expedition
To access Expedition, you need to meet specific level requirements. Once unlocked, the system becomes available from the Projects menu.
- Requirement: Reach level 20 with your Raider.
- Access: Go to your Raider, open the Projects menu, and select Expedition Project.
Note: Unlocking does not start the Expedition automatically; it only allows you to begin contributing resources toward the caravan.
3. How to Prepare for the Expedition
Preparation is crucial for maximizing rewards and ensuring a smooth reset. The Expedition Project is divided into multiple stages, each requiring different resources.
- Start the Caravan Construction: Once unlocked, begin contributing required materials for each stage.
- Gather Resources: Collect and contribute items such as Metal Parts, Rubber Parts, ARC Alloy, Steel Springs, Humidifiers, Electrical Components, and coins.
- Stage Requirements: There are 5 stages for the Expedition project, and you need to collect these resources in raids and move them towards the expedition.
- Commit Resources Carefully: Once contributed, items cannot be retrieved.
- Timing: Expedition cycles run approximately 8 weeks. Use the time to prepare your caravan and accumulate stash and coins.
4. How to Start & Finalize an Expedition
Starting the Expedition involves sending your Raider on the journey, which triggers the reset.
- Finalization Window: At the end of the 8-week cycle, a limited-time window opens to confirm and send your Raider.
- Decision: You can either depart (triggering the reset and claiming rewards) or skip (caravan progress carries over).
- Reset: Departing resets your Raider’s: Level and skill tree, Inventory and stash, Blueprints, Coins and workshop upgrades, Quest progress, and Raider den progress
- Rewards: Upon departure, your Raider gains cosmetic items, extra stash space, skill points, and account-wide benefits.
5. Items You Keep vs. Lose in Expedition
When preparing for an Expedition in Arc Raiders, it’s crucial to understand exactly what progress and items will be lost and what will carry over. The game is designed so that while your current Raider undergoes a full reset, certain account-wide unlocks, cosmetics, and meta-progression remain intact.
Items Lost on Expedition
These items are tied to your current Raider and will be reset once you send them on an Expedition:
- Player level and skill points – all experience and unlocked skills are reset.
- Inventory and stash items – every item, weapon, armor piece, material, or consumable is lost.
- Blueprints – any crafting or upgrade blueprints acquired during this run.
- Coins – your in-game currency balance is cleared.
- Workshop and crafting progress – all upgrades or progress in your crafting stations.
- Quest progress – main story, side missions, and other quest completions.
- Raider Den upgrades – any progress or expansions in your home base or den.
Items Kept on Expedition
These items carry over across your account and will remain available for future Raiders:
- Cosmetics – outfits, skins, hats, and any purchased or unlocked cosmetic items.
- Account-wide unlocks – maps, workshop stations, and other permanent game-wide progress.
- Codex entries – lore, guides, and in-game encyclopedias remain unlocked.
- Raider Tokens and Cred – premium or special currencies are preserved.
- Leaderboards and Trials progress – rankings, challenges, and completed trials are maintained.
- Bonus skill points from previous Expeditions – any extra skill points earned through past Expeditions.
- Extra stash slots – permanent expansions to your inventory space.
- Temporary buffs for the next cycle – boosts like repair speed, XP gain, and material acquisition from previous Expedition participation.
6. Expedition Timeline

8. All Expedition Rewards List
Choosing not to depart with the subsequent expedition will automatically expire the temporary account buffs. Buffs enhance your next three expeditions. Expedition rewards are split into permanent and temporary benefits. Proper preparation maximizes these rewards.
- The items in your Raider’s stash are distributed toward your expedition value if the Expedition departs.
- Depending on the total value of your Stash and Coins at the time of departure, your next Raider can earn up to five skill points.
- 1 Million Coins are equal to one additional skill point for your new Raider.
- Ensure you have five million in overall Stash or coin value to gain the maximum number of rewards.
Permanent Rewards
- Patchwork Raider outfit
- Scrappy Janitor Cap
- Expeditions Indicator icon
- +12 Stash space
- Up to 5 skill points for the next Raider (based on stash/coin value)
Temporary Buffs
- 10% repair buff
- 5% XP boost
- 6% more materials from scavenging
9. When & Why to Do an Expedition
Deciding whether to embark on an Expedition is one of the most important choices in Arc Raiders. Not every player should rush into an Expedition; timing, preparation, and your current progress all affect how much you’ll gain. You should consider doing an Expedition if:
- You value meta progression: more stash space, bonus skill points, cosmetics, buffed next run. These carry forward.
- You enjoy a fresh start — maybe you got bored, want to re-roll skill build, re-experience the early game, or try a different playstyle on new Raider.
- You are willing to sacrifice current gear, blueprints, stash, etc. — and you don’t rely heavily on those to continue having fun or to complete future content.
- You’ve accumulated a good stash or coins — because stash/coin value at departure influences bonus skill points (so it’s more “worth it” if you depart with more).
