Another Crab’s Treasure is a memorable Soulslike for many reasons, from its superb Shell-switching gimmick to its surprisingly compelling narrative around the destruction of the ocean and stepping out from your comfortable normal, but easily one of its most compelling draws are its many boss fights. Bosses are a staple of all Soulslikes and Another Crab’s Treasure is no exception, bringing bosses that are both humourous and terrifying in equal measure. There are several bosses on the beaten track to Kril to defeat and even a few hidden ones, such as The Consortium secret boss, but one early game enemy many players have missed is the Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur.
The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur is a boss with a surprisingly low amount of clears for how early in the game it is, with it having an almost equal amount of defeats as the game’s actual secret boss. This is important because defeating the Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur is required to get Another Crab’s Treasure’s Platinum Trophy, as the boss has a trophy attached to defeating it.
Here’s where to find the Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur boss in Another Crab’s Treasure.

Where to Find the Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur in Another Crab’s Treasure
Find the Oil Waterfall
The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur is a boss in the Exiled Grove region of Another Crab’s Treasure. This is one of the earliest areas you get access to in the game and is the first place you’ll go to hunt for the treasure map. The main boss of the Grove is Heikea, the Intimidation Crab, but the Connoisseur can be found before you reach him.
To quickly arrive at the Carbonara Connoisseur’s location, Shelleport to the Oil Drum Moon Shell. This Shell is roughly halfway through the Exiled Grove and is the Shell closest to the Heikea boss fight.
Once you appear, you’re going to walk forward until you reach the edge of the cliff you spawn in front of. This cliff is right next to the mouth of an oil waterfall, one formed from the oil drum that the Moon Snail Shell is named after. This waterfall is key to figuring out the Connoisseur’s location, so jump down to the ground from the cliff. Alternatively, you could just walk down the hill to the east as it will take you back to the same location, but jumping saves you from having to deal with those annoying crab archers.
At the bottom of the waterfall are a bunch of broken bottles and cans strewn about the oil, cans that you can jump to and walk on. Jump over to the cans and then jump through the oil waterfall and you’ll discover that, like all waterfalls in video games, there’s something behind it. This is the Curdled Carbonara Connoissuer’s Boss Arena.

Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur Boss Guide
The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur is similar to some other bosses in Another Crab’s Treasure such as the Polluted Platoon Pathfinder and Scuttling Sludge Steamroller. It’s a giant crab wielding some sort of kitchen utensil as a weapon – the Connoisseur’s tools of war are a pair of kitchen tongs and a broken pot lid – with a focus on close-ranged combat.
Tong Stab: The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur will block with its shield before delivering three sharp jabs with its tongs. While the tongs are capable of dealing decent damage to you if you cannot escape all three hits, the bigger issue is the shield as it will make your hits bounce off and deal no damage. The best way to deal with this is to try and manoeuvre to one of the Connoisseur’s sides and punish it while it’s guarding.
Tong Swipe: The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur will swing its tong directly in front of it. Simple parry, guard or dodge this attack and then punish the Connoisseur in the moments after the attack.
Overhead Slam: The Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur will leap into the air and then smash back down into the ground with both of its cooking utensils. This attack deals a lot of damage if you’re standing directly below the Connoisseur when it lands, so back away as far as you when you see it jump. In the seconds after it lands the attack, it will be completely immobile, opening it up for some easy damage.
Additionally, this boss, like many others, isn’t immune to status debuffs like Shock, making the Electrocute Adaptation incredibly potent here. Similarly, the Urchin Adaptation will easily punish the Connoisseur when it begins blocking, so consider bringing it along to this battle. Aside from that, we recommend using a Shield Hammer as it will chunk away the Connoiseur’s health at a great pace compared to a normal sword swing.
That was where to find, and how to defeat, the Curdled Carbonara Connoisseur in Another Crab’s Treasure.
