Crimson Desert hides its witches across several regions, and finding all of them takes more than simply following one road. Some are tied to the story, while others only appear after you help a disguised stranger, rescue someone in trouble, or track down a hidden cave or cabin.
Unlocking them matters because witches handle important Abyss Core and Abyss Gear services, and most of them also open up Sanctum questlines in their region. This guide covers all witch locations in Crimson Desert, including where to find each witch the first time, which region they belong to, and the sanctums they are tied to.
1. Witch Tokens and Sanctum Quests
Witches are more than hidden NPCs. They act as special merchants tied to Abyss Core socketing, Abyss Gear functions, and regional Sanctum progress. In practice, that means finding witches is part of both character progression and exploration. Some witches can be met naturally through the story, while others require a two-step unlock where you first find them in disguise and then travel to their actual home.
Most witches also give you a request tied to cleansing nearby sanctums. After finishing those sanctum objectives, each witch gives you a Witch’s Token. Those tokens are then used later at the hidden door in the Wayward Woods Witch Hideout.

2. Hermit Witch Location in Crimson Desert
The Hermit Witch, also identified as Sylvia, is one of the earliest witches you can unlock. Unlike the region-based witches, she is mainly important for her workshop functions rather than for a larger sanctum questline.

Where to Find the Hermit Witch
The Hermit Witch is found north of Hernand in a hidden cave on the mountainside. She is easy to miss because the entrance is tucked into the rock face instead of being placed on a main road or in a visible settlement.
Once you reach the marked mountain area, look for an opening in the mountainside. Head inside the cave and you will find Sylvia in her lair.

Hermit Witch Function
The Hermit Witch does not function like the other witches that send you across a region to cleanse multiple sanctums. Her main role is handling workshop functions tied to your build. At her lair, she can help with:
- Embedding Abyss Gear
- Extracting Abyss Gear
- Creating sockets
If you are trying to strengthen gear early, this is one of the first witch locations worth unlocking because it gives you access to core build utility without needing to wait for later regional witches.
3. Witch of Wisdom Location in Crimson Desert
The Witch of Wisdom is Elowen, and she is tied to the Hernand region. She is one of the more important witches because meeting her opens a full sanctum questline in the area and gives you access to a more complete witch workshop.

Elowen’s first encounter begins at a small house southeast of the Witchwoods in Hernand. When you approach, you hear a woman calling for help, but the area is blocked and the door is locked.
To get inside, follow these steps:
- Look up and use the hole in the roof instead of trying to open the door.
- Inside, you find a woman tied up.
- Rescue her and she reveals that she is the Witch of Wisdom.
- After that, her real house is marked on your map.

After the rescue, travel to the marked house in the Witchwoods area southwest of Hernand City. To make it simple, just follow the quest marker after the rescue sequence and head to her house in the Hernand Witchwoods area.
There is an Abyss Nexus near the house, so activate it before leaving. That makes future return trips much easier.

What Elowen Unlocks
Once you speak to Elowen at her house, she becomes a witch merchant and unlocks her regional sanctum request. Her workshop covers several important functions, including Abyss Core and Abyss Gear handling.
At her house, you can use services such as:
- Socketing
- Extracting
- Crafting
- Abyss Gear functions
Witch of Wisdom Sanctums
Elowen asks you to cleanse four sanctums in the Hernand region:
- Sanctum of Temperance
- Sanctum of Absolution
- Sanctum of Benediction
- Sanctum of Penitence
After clearing all four sanctums, return to Elowen’s house and speak with her again to complete her questline and receive her token reward.
4. Witch of Kindness Location in Crimson Desert
The Witch of Kindness is Bari, and she is found in the Pailune region. Like several later witches, she requires a first encounter in disguise before you can visit her actual home.

To begin unlocking Bari, travel to the snowy are southwest of Pailune City, under a small shelter in the mountains north of the “P” on the map. You will find a woman shivering from the cold beside a campfire. Light the fire next to her to warm her up. Once you do, she reveals herself as Bari and disappears after speaking with you.

After the first encounter, head to Bari’s real house in the middle of the lake south of Silver Wolf Mountain. The house sits on the water, and there is an Abyss Nexus nearby that is worth activating before you leave because the area is inconvenient to revisit without it. Go inside the house and speak with Bari to unlock her full workshop and questline.

What Bari Unlocks
Once Bari is in her house, she becomes a proper witch merchant for your build progression. Speaking to her unlocks her sanctum quest in Pailune, and her house also serves as another place to manage Abyss Core and Abyss Gear functions.
Witch of Kindness Sanctums
Bari asks you to cleanse four sanctums in the Pailune region:
- Sanctum of Exaltation
- Sanctum of Solace
- Sanctum of Deliverance
- Sanctum of Atonement
After cleansing the sanctums, return to Bari and speak with her again to finish the questline and receive her token.
5. Witch of Humility Location in Crimson Desert
The Witch of Humility is Lyselia, and she is tied to Demeniss and the surrounding wetlands. Her unlock works similarly to Bari’s, but her real lair is much more hidden and easier to miss.

- Travel to the broken bridge near Beighen, around the Denn River area.
- You’ll see someone hanging from the edge.
- Approach the person and help her up.
- After the interaction, she reveals the next stage of the witch trail and disappears.

Lyselia’s real location is in Serpent Marsh. Her lair is not a normal cabin sitting in the open. Instead, it is a hidden cave between mountains, close to an Abyss Nexus. One of the clearest ways to confirm you are in the right place is the presence of colorful flags leading into the cave.
The cave entrance can be awkward to find because of the terrain, and you may need to climb to reach it. Once you get inside, follow the hanging markers deeper in until you find Lyselia standing by her table.

What Lyselia Unlocks
Speaking to Lyselia inside the Serpent Marsh cave unlocks her witch services and starts her sanctum questline. As with the other witches, she becomes part of your Abyss Core and Abyss Gear progression once found.
Witch of Humility Sanctums
Lyselia asks you to cleanse four sanctums:
- Sanctum of Devotion
- Sanctum of Veneration
- Sanctum of Faith
- Sanctum of Oblation
After cleansing all four, return to Lyselia in Serpent Marsh to complete her questline and claim her token.
6. Witch of Strength Location in Crimson Desert
The Witch of Strength is Areciel, and she is the most difficult witch to reach because she is tied to the late-game Crimson Desert region. This is usually one of the last witches players unlock.
Areciel is located inside the Crimson Desert region itself, so you need to be far enough into the main story to access that zone properly. You need to complete Chapter 8 and begin the early steps of Chapter 9 before the game stops pushing you back out of the area.

- Travel to the Tommaso Fork Posthouse in Tashkalp Territory, on the northern side of the settlement area.
- Look near the bounty board and the small posthouse structure for the disguised figure that starts the witch encounter.
- Speak to the figure and give a coin.
- After the dialogue, the disguise drops and the next location is revealed on your map.
Areciel Quest Location

After the first encounter, head to Areciel’s real home in the northern part of the Crimson Desert region, described as:
- northwest of World’s Navel
- close to Urdavah
- in an alcove carved into the mountainside
The house is built halfway up the mountain, so you need to climb to reach it. Enter inside and Areciel will tell you that you entered without an invitation and that she is waiting on the roof. Climb up to the roof and speak with her there. There is also an Abyss Nexus nearby, so make sure to activate it when you arrive.

Witch of Strength Sanctums
Areciel is tied to three sanctums in the Crimson Desert region:
- Sanctum of Expiation
- Sanctum of Renunciation
- Sanctum of Revelation
Accept her request, cleanse the sanctums, then return to complete the Witch of Strength quest and receive her token.
