BEFORE YOU LAND: HELPFUL TIPS

When you jump out of the flying machine and hurtle yourself towards the ground, there’s not much time for you to make a plan, so knowing what you need to do before you jump is an important part of making a strategy. Here are a few helpful tips for when you land.7 Tips for Starting Realm Royale: A Warrior overlooks a mining settlement in the Badlands

  • Landing in the wilderness is not a very effective strategy.

    • In some battle royale games, you may be able to get away with landing in an area with few or no buildings, using the lack of appeal to your advantage. However, this will not work in Realm Royale. In its current state, the game’s wilderness offers nearly nothing. There are a few chests on some outcrops or in other open positions. Not only will you find less loot, but most players you will come up against will have more or better loot. You’re much better off landing in a city, where the high density of buildings makes it easier to survive in the face of others landing nearby, and there’s a lot more loot to get.

  • Open every chest you can, even if you don’t need to

    • If you land somewhere and grab a good set of loot from your first few chests, don’t think this means your looting is over. Open every chest you can, and if you’re not satisfied with its contents, recycle them into shards. These are what you use at the Forge for crafting. Players who craft at the Forge gain a huge advantage thanks to legendary items.

  • Use your abilities!

    • While other battle royale games have had a unique twist, such as Fortnite’s building mechanic or the wacky physics behind Totally Accurate Battlegrounds, Realm Royale takes it to a new level with the class system and the ability system. Knowing to use abilities like the Assassin’s Ghost Walk, or the Hunter’s Withdraw at the right moment can be the difference between a Crown Royale or a crushing defeat.

  • Just because your lobby is on one island doesn’t mean you’re launching from there.

    • In Realm Royale, the lobby can take place on one of four islands, a northern island, western island, eastern island, and southeastern island. While the lobby will be on one of these islands, its location does not determine where the flying machine takes off from, making it more difficult to accurately determine where you’re headed until you actually take off.

  • Don’t forget to loot your enemies!

    • When you get a kill by dropping an enemy’s health to zero and finishing them off in chicken form, they will drop all of their loot. If they aren’t the same class as you, this is an excellent way to gather shards for the Forge. If there is nothing else of value, don’t forget to at least grab the Chicken Trophy they drop. These allow you to craft legendary class weapons at the Forge, as long as you have the shards.

THE MAP, LANDING, AND THE FORGE

Now that you’ve picked a class and prepared yourself to encounter enemies, you’re going to have to figure out where you’re going. In the traditional battle royale format, up to 100 players are going to be dropping out onto the map from a flying machine. From there, you’ve got to make it into the zone before you’re enveloped by the deadly fog.7 Tips for Playing Realm Royale: The Full Map, with Forge Locations

One of the most important aspects of any battle royale game is knowing how and where to land. In Realm Royale, this takes on a new aspect with the introduction of the Forge. The Forge is a place in Realm Royale marked on the map by an anvil icon. Here, players can spend shards to create health and armor potions as well as legendary abilities, weapons, and armor.

Due to its high importance in the game, landing near a Forge is both a blessing and a curse. It is an excellent spot to land, since a Forge can be found in locations that generally have a lot of buildings with chests, such as the city of Sentinel Hold or Trinity Hills. Landing near a lot of Chests also allows you to gain a fair amount of shards by recycling anything you don’t want from one of the countless chests in the area. The only issue with landing near a Forge is that, since it’s such a great place to land, everyone is landing there too.

For the most part, a Forge is inside of the same style of building. In these buildings, the Forge is on the second level, with two staircases on the left and right side, and three doors. There is a door opposite the Forge on the lower level, and a door beside each staircase.

Choosing you land at a Forge means you need to be tactical with your choice, and land at one of the 18 Forges that will work the best. The best places to land change constantly, due to the nature of the zone being in different places in each round. That being said, we can look at each region and determine what might be better or worse.

Tropics

  • Lost Forge

    • Nestled in an ancient ruin, the Lost Forge itself sits atop a large pyramid. Its location making it an easy to defend location due to straightforward entrances and exits, but also highly exposed. Around the Forge there are enough buildings with chests to make landing here worthwhile.

  • Forbidden Swamp

    • The Forbidden Swamp Forge is on the edge of a swampy village. Sitting between Jaguar’s Claws and Lost Forge, it is an excellent stop if you are travelling out of the swamp or passing by the edge of the settlement.

  • Jaguar’s Claws

    • On the border of the Badlands, Jaguar’s Claws is a small settlement. While it may not be a good place to land, the small town north of it, in the Badlands, is a good starting spot. If you are careful, you can loot that town and then ride to the Jaguar’s Claws Forge on your mount.

Greenscape

  • Jade Gardens

    • The Jade Gardens is a good location due to cover, though not an excellent spot to find a lot of loot. Because of this, however, it is not usually heavily populated, making it a good place to survive while players drop at popular locations like Gun Town and Icehaven. This means it will be easy to use the Forge in peace, if you can gather the shards.

  • Autumn Fields

    • On the edge of Greenscape lies the small cluster of towns known as Autumn Fields. Autumn Fields is broken up into three main areas, with the Forge in the central area. The areas both southwest and east of the Forge are large clusters of buildings that are excellent for looting and make for better spots to land than right on the Forge. Here, the Further east is a river which cuts through Jade Gardens and borders Sentinel Hold, making movement eastward more difficult.

  • Fungal Forest

    • Deep inside of a forest of giant mushrooms, the Fungal Forest is a small, spread out town in the middle of the Greenscape region. The Forge in this town is right in the middle, and there are few nearby buildings that can provide loot. It may not be the best place to land since loot will be limited, but it can be an excellent location to travel to after collecting a few shards and Chicken Trophies.

  • Lumberfall

    • A standard Forge building sits inside the settlement of Lumberfall, which is littered with tall cranes and lumber piles. While the Forge itself is not more or less defensible than others, the area around it has a lot of areas for cover, sometimes making it difficult to spot enemies on the approach.

  • Crossing

    • Right on the border of Greenscape, Badlands, and Everfrost, Crossing is a small town that sees a fair amount of activity. It is at a crossroads between Northport, Underpass, and the main road into Badlands. This makes it a highly trafficked area for players who travel along the roads in order to avoid the slow movement climbing up slopes. The Forge itself is very close to the crossroads, with the town expanding northward of it. While the town itself isn’t incredibly unique, there is a rather tall hill south of the town that is excellent for sniping and long range attacks, with sightlines into Badlands, Crossing, and Underpass.

Sanctuary

  • Trinity Hills

    • Trinity Hills is a good place to land if you’re comfortable with fighting enemies or avoiding them at all costs. The Forge itself is on the edge of the largest cluster of buildings, making it a good spot for people to ambush their enemies as they enter the denser area of the location.

  • Sentinel Hold

    • Similar to Trinity Hills, Sentinel Hold is a large city area. Unlike Trinity Hills, however, this location is fairly small and is walled off, making it a death trap for the inexperienced and a playground for top players. Here, the Forge sits in the middle of the city, allowing players a fairly equal chance to make their way there and fight over the items available.

Everfrost

  • Northport

    • The western and northwestern edge of the Everfrost is actually rather fertile, grassy lands, and at the very northern tip of this region sits Northport. A large city akin to Trinity Hills and Sentinel Hold in Sanctuary, Northport is incredibly dense. The Forge sits in the southeastern edge of the main city, with more suburban homes on the edge. Landing here means you’ve got to be prepared for a fight, as the large amount of buildings and chest locations makes Northport highly popular.

  • Underpass

    • The Underpass Forge is one of the most interesting locations for a Forge currently in Realm Royale. The Underpass Forge sits directly in the middle of the large tunnel that makes up the area. It is out in the open, making it very difficult to defend. This Forge is best used only when you’re completely certain you’ve dispatched any nearby foes.

  • Valley

    • Valley is an incredibly small settlement, with a Forge that is out of the way from most of the other buildings. Overall, Valley is not very notable, but its small size makes it a good spot for beginners who aren’t comfortable with a lot of combat, since it is not a popular spot.

  • Coldmist Village

    • Coldmist Village is a small town south of Icehaven and Underpass. With an average amount of buildings near the Forge, and its short distance from the nearby Forge in Valley, Coldmist is a good place to land if you mess up on your way to Underpass or Ice Haven, if you have the time to make it there.

  • Icehaven

    • Icehaven is currently one of the most popular locations in Realm Royale, so other players are going to be a certain hazard here. The best thing to do is land quickly and search houses before heading to the Forge, which is in a standard building south of the large, central lake in the area.

Badlands

  • Gun Town

    • One of, if not the, most popular landing locations in Realm Royale right now is Gun Town. The area itself is fairly spread out, taking up a surprisingly large portion of the central Badlands. The Forge here is on the edge of the settlement, with a hill behind it making it a fairly forward defensible position, if you can survive the onslaught of enemies landing here along with you.

  • Goblin Gulch

    • North of Gun Town sits Goblin Gulch, which is much smaller and much more condensed. The Forge is fairly central here, making it an easy location to attack if you so desire. The downside to landing here is that Goblin Gulch is not often in the zone, meaning landing and looting needs to be quick if you want to use the Forge before the fog sets in.

  • Outpost

    • On the edge of the desert sits the tiny location of Outpost. Contending for the spot as the smallest named location, with Crossing, Valley, and Underpass also fighting for the title, Outpost is of little note. It has a few homes and a Forge, but there is little loot. This makes it a better location for a pitstop to craft some items while you’re making your way out of the Badlands rather than a spot to land.

Now that you know where you want to land, the real question is: “How do I do that?” Luckily, landing in Realm Royale is easier than in games like Fortnite or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Instead of skydiving then gliding to a location, Realm Royale has players hurtling themselves at top speeds into the ground, and since there is no fall damage in the game, your character has no problem sticking the landing.

In terms of actually landing though, you’ll find that it works best to jump and begin your descent very close to your landing zone, since there’s no need for more precision gliding movements. As you begin to approach the ground, you’ll be able to land closer to doors by using the left/right air strafing movement, which is much faster than turning and moving forward. This method can also be used to allow for more exact forward/backward movements–you can turn to the side and airstrafe while holding down the backpedal button (Default Key: S).

USING THE FORGE

One of the most vital and unique parts of Realm Royale is the Forge. This installation in each of the named locations around the map allows players to craft unique legendary weapons, powerful legendary abilities, sturdy legendary armor, and potions. There are a total of five items that can be crafted at the forge, three of which will always be the same, while the other two will be random. You can only craft one of each type of legendary item at a Forge.

Once the Forge is activated, its chimney will begin to bellow black smoke, notifying other players that it is in use. You do not need to be near the Forge for it to craft the item, but keep track of the time if you want to venture away, since after your item is forged, other players will be able to pick it up or recycle it after only a 10 second cooldown.

LOOT AND THE RARITY SYSTEM

Similarly to the battle royale giant Fortnite, Realm Royale uses a rarity system to determine the strength of weapons, armor, and abilities. Everything you can loot from a chest has one of four different rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. These are color coded, with Common being white, Rare being green, Epic being purple, and Legendary being orange. In total there are six weapon types, with the four class legendaries being unique in their design.

  • Crossbow (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Sword (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Pistol
    • Venom Pistol (Common, Rare)
    • Revolver (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Rifle
    • Auto Rifle (Rare, Epic, Legendary)
    • Slug Rifle (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
    • Heirloom Rifle (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Shotgun (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Legendary Class Weapons
    • The Stone Spear (Legendary)
    • The Sniper Rifle (Legendary)
    • The Throwing Axe (Legendary)
    • The Bow( Legendary)
    • The Plasma Launcher (Legendary)

Legendary weapons aside from the class weapons are incredibly rare, and the best way to get them is from Airdrops, which will spawn periodically and fall from the sky, appearing on the map.

In a recent update to Realm Royale, Hi-Rez introduced elemental infusion to the legendary class weapons. This allows them to be potentially enhanced with either Fire, Frost, or Lightning. Fire enhancement adds a burning effect, dealing burn damage over time and also reducing the effectiveness of healing. Frost enhancement slows enemies. Lightning enhancement reveals enemies who are in stealth and enemies behind walls for you and your allies.

Aside from getting weapons and abilities, chests can drop two other types of loot: Armor and Potions. Armor increases the amount of damage you can take, and potions can either restore your health or restore broken armor. Armor comes in four varieties: Helms, Breastplate, Gauntlets, and Greaves. Each piece of epic armor provides a special bonus, and the legendary armor improves on that bonus. Potions do not have a rarity, and only exist as a generic health potion and generic armor potion.

LAST MINUTE TIPS

  • Experiment!

    • Test out all of the classes and abilities before settling on a single one you like best. You might find you prefer the things you least expected. The same goes for weapons: some types of weapons may be better than others, but a large part of their effectiveness comes from how you use them.

  • Use Your Shards!

    • You can only hold 200 shards at a time, so make sure you use them while you can and be careful about the order you craft items in. You might want to start by crafting your class weapon, so you can collect the shards from whatever weapon you swap it with.

  • Don’t Forget Potions!

    • While some classes have passive or active abilities that quickly heal or repair armor, it is much easier to find potions. Despite the time it takes to use them, they are overall better because of how common they are. Health and armor potions can be found in chests or be crafted at a Forge, and can be the difference between surviving a battle or being someone’s next kill.

  • Have Fun!

    • Remember, this is just a game! It may be frustrating to lose your progress after playing each round, but starting over means you have all the experience from before to help push you closer to a Crown Royale.
