Assassin’s Creed Origins has six ancient mechanisms left behind by the Isu (First Civilization). Each ancient mechanism plays a cryptic Isu message projected with a holographic image when activated with silica. Those messages shed light on story bits from the wider Assassin’s Creed series. You can find the vaults containing those mechanisms within six ancient tombs. This is where you can find the six ancient mechanism locations in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Golden Tomb (Isolated Desert)
This ancient mechanism is in the Oun-mAa Niye Ressoot Isu vault within Golden Tomb. Golden Tomb is within the Isolated Desert region of the map. It is close to Theos Etnis Rift village in the Isolated Desert. Head south from that village to the mechanism location, shown in the image below.
To enter, slash through a crack in the tomb’s wall. You’ll immediately notice a light beam upon entering. You can reach the ancient mechanism by pulling the mirrors to reflect the light beam that leads you toward an ancient tablet. Then proceed to the mechanism from there.
Seth-Anat Tomb (Desheret Desert)
The Seth-Anat Tomb in Desheret Desert includes a Qeneb too Kah’ Aiye vault where you can activate an ancient mechanism. It’s easy to find the Seth-Anat Tomb because you can’t miss its structure slap bang in the middle of the Desheret Desert. You can see that tomb clearly when flying Senu over the Desheret Desert.
To enter the Seth-Anat Tomb, approach from its western side. Then you’ll need to pull out a few mirrors to reflect a light beam. Use your torch to burn cobwebs from some of the mirrors.
Nomarch’s Tomb (Black Desert)
Nomarch’s Tomb contains the Seshem Isu vault ancient mechanism. To find this mechanism’s tomb, head west into the mountainous region of the Black Desert from the village of Dionysias to the location shown below. The tomb is near the Black Desert’s southern border close to the Faiyum and White Oasis regions.
This tomb’s structure is quite clear from above. So, you’ll probably be able to spot it with Senu by flying over the mountainous area in the south of the Black Desert. You can enter Nomarch’s Tomb by dropping into a hole in the ground alongside the structure.
The ancient mechanism in this tomb is underwater. Swim down in the water to collect some silica and activate the mechanism. You can’t drown underwater when listening to the message.
Tomb of Smenkhkare (Haueris Nome)
You can activate the Eeyoo Sekedoo ancient mechanism in The Tomb of Smenkhkare. You’ll find the Smekhkare tomb entrance at the eastern end of the Haueris Nome region. The best way to find it is to head south from the village of Hermopolis on the eastern coast of Haueris Nome. This tomb is in a hill cave, but you can identify its entrance by looking for the large pillars and ruins outside it.
After entering the tomb, you’ll need to jump onto a few hanging platforms to reach the ancient tablet. There are a few enemies guarding that tablet for you to kill. Then go through a crack in the wall behind that tablet to find and activate the ancient mechanism.
Tomb of Khufu (Giza)
The Tomb of Khufu includes the only ancient mechanism location in Assassin’s Creed Origins that’s not within an Isu vault. So, this is the only mechanism that doesn’t have a map marking. However, it is still an ancient mechanism that plays a message when activated with five silica.
Khufu is the tomb of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which makes it the easiest to find. You must enter that tomb to complete the “Hyena” main quest. You’ll find the ancient mechanism in the same part of the tomb where you fight the Hyena. If you haven’t completed that quest, continue playing up to the point you enter Khufu in the Pyramid of Giza. Then you can collect some silica to activate the ancient mechanism just before fighting Hyena.
The Great Sphinx (Giza)
You can activate this ancient mechanism in the Eesfet Oon-m’Aa Poo Isu vault within the Great Sphinx tomb. That’s a relatively easy tomb to find, even though it’s a secret one. To discover it, walk to the back of the Great Sphinx in Giza where you’ll find a small hole at the rear of that statue Bayek can crawl through to enter.
However, you can’t enter this Isu vault unless you’ve found all 12 stone locations to complete the “Bayek’s Promise” quest. When you’ve done that, you can unlock the map room and enter Eesfet Oon-m’Aa Poo. However, you’ll also need 50 silica to activate the ancient mechanism there, which is much more than the usual amount of five. That’s because activating this mechanism also gives you the snazzy Isu Armor, which makes it more special.
This interactive Assassin’s Creed Origins map will also come in handy for finding all ancient mechanism tomb locations. Deselect all that map’s markers except those for tombs and ancient mechanisms. Then can see where those ancient mechanism tombs are on that map.
It’s worth finding those ancient mechanism locations in Assassin’s Creed Origins because they have intriguing Isu messages, and you’ll also get 250 XP points for each activated. Plus, you can find and activate the ancient tablets in their tombs to get more ability points. Not to mention all the other loot and gear you’ll find stuffed away in those tombs.
